OK, I KNOW this idea has been brought up tons of times in the forum, and I posted it back tons of time. Tell us here and now what you honestly think of it so I can have an idea of everyone's opinion towards it.
( anyone ever read his dark materials trilogy?)

Ok so when your a fawn you have this little forest animal that follows you everywhere. And it keeps changing shape whereever it is. Fox, dove, pigeon, badger, frog, bat, mouse, chaffinch, wild cat, wolf, linx, puma... All in different colours, (many more animals than listed). So, when you're a stag (or doe) your little animal settles and each one is different from the other, like if there are two mice, one might have spotts or be bright red. If you have a birdy animal it might be carried in your antlers or circle you constantly. When you sleep, if might curl up beside you. The large animals like wolves and foxes could be shown as miniatures. The objective of this idea is to make deer even more individual, and when the forest is empty, who wouldn't love a little companion friend? And you could right poems, stories and take pictures of it. Construct a whole new personality for your following buddy!

Sort of like Deamons

Sort of like Deamons (spelling?) from the Golden Compass books? Sounds like an interesting idea, not sure if I like the changing color though, I'd rather they just look natural ^_^

Oh ok, but what I mean is, I wouldn't really want to see pink and yellow woodland creatures running around (cute as they would be!) as it would look...I dunno, I feel stupid saying unnatural because the Endless Deer have unnatural pelts already...but I think it might look too cutesy and 'petpet' like (forgive the neopets reference).

I'd die for a little song bird that would sit in my deer's antlers though, even when they walked around D: *wants so bad*

In the begining I thought the same thing, but then there would be a lot of repeated daemons, so they have different colours, to have them natural, we would need all kinds of animals, or all of them could be slightly different, like a mark in their hind, a smaller tail, a painted ear, that would be even cooler right?

(you can't choose of change the appearence of your animal, its random)

Or you could have it with different colors, but natural ones. Like how there are many many different coloration for foxes, silver, red, dark dark brown...that way even if two people chose to have a fox animal, they could still choose a color that was both different and still believable.

You know this idea is really growing on me! I'd love to be able to have a 'familiar' type companion for my deer!

I dont think it would be

I dont think it would be nice to choose the animal, otherwise, people would only get the cool animals, and everyone would have a fox, it should be random both colour and animal like our deer names. Also no insects cause people with insects (not all some) would get angry by having one. And everyone could grow to like their little familiar.

Oooo the random idea is great too! So it would be that the animal would constantly change, until your fawn grows up, at which point it would randomly stick as a certain creature? I agree, that would stop everyone favoring foxes, wolfs, and big cats...which makes me think, wouldn't the bigger animals (even as minis, like you'd said) be a little odd? Perhaps just omnivores and herbivores; that way nothing that hunts and eats deer would be included :>

Hummmm, perhaps but what do

Hummmm, perhaps but what do you think of cats and lynx? they are easy to have varaiable "real" colours, ok, so any "foresty" animal that is smaller than a deer is a good idea?
Beavers, possums, owls,hares, hawks, eagles, (THere's a hell of a bunch round and all with different colours that would be soooo cool! I really want em)

I really think it would be real awesome!

I like this idea but I think

I like this idea but I think there should be an option to turn the creature on or off. And maybe a button that pics the creature randomly so if you don't like the creature you have now, you can click the button and get another random creature. And why not insects?

Turning creature display on and off would be a must!
I personally wouldn't mind having a bug; butterflies, moths, or crickets would be adorable...but others might be too small to display *ponders*

Animalartist: Ok for the changing on or off, but I think the point is everyone has a daemon that is unique, in its own way, be the species or markings that make the difference, its supposed to make deer more indivual (i dont know bout you but, I rarely remember people's pictos,) So I don't think it should be up to deer the kind of "buddys" they have, so no changing daemon, only when your a fawn they switch every 10 mins.

This has been discussed on the Forums, and the general concensus is that it would be a good idea. : D We're a little hesitant about the wolves, though. -shrug- I'd be xecited to see it!

Like I said before, if we kept it to omnivores and herbivores, then most of the animals would fit into the woodland creature category (without the likely hood of them eating their deer partners hehe).

I have no problem with big cats and wolves, as long as they don't have a too "evil" posture set to them, their real cute

I know, and I love wolves

I know, and I love wolves and big cats as much as the next fan, but people have expressed a desire to keep the forest a peaceful place and in my mind that in part would mean not having deer-eating animals roaming around.

I think its a cool idea. But at the same time I'm not sure.
I think deamons are cool. I just took a test on the web some
days ago about whats your deamon (you can tell I was dieing of bordem).

Honestly? I think it's a

Honestly? I think it's a cool idea!! But I can also see some issues that may seriously impede it's happening... copyright laws being a big one, as Philip Pullman fans would most likely be up in arms over the resemblance to the daemon concept in his books..

Programming/writing in such a wide range of extras would also take a GREAT deal of work. Also the more 'accessories' we have for our deer the more chance for glitching/conflict with already existing things and that requires even more time and effort to fix as it happens... which also requires funding... and round and round we go.

< T_T > Tis a really cool idea though! <3

I dont know.

I'd hate to think of the loading/pictos spreading if something like this was put in. Just think what'd would happen if there was an Abio and around 40 people out of the 100 or so had these little critters. That would mean instead of 40 things to load it would double and become 80...so that would be around 140 deer + critters to load x_x.
