So, my laptop just got assaulted by numerous trojans and virus from god knows where. I just know that something installed itself on my laptop, and as soon as I saw it pop up, I knew I was fucked.
It's disabled BOTH of my virus scanners (AVG, and some other program I had to pay to install a long time ago for a similar event), and the scanner that scanned everything will NOT let me get rid of it unless I PURCHASE the fucking program. My credit card is maxed out, I don't have a debit account anymore, and I CANNOT tell my father about this because he will be livid that my card is maxed out.
I'm in a full out panic over this, and before anyone suggests it, I am NOT getting the computer scrubbed. I have too much shit on it to allow that to happen. So now I have my laptop just sitting here on the floor, staring at me with all these popups saying "You need to Activate this program to use it" and yadda yadda yadda.
I'm so fucking sick to my stomach over this...
OKAY, YOU CAN ALL PUNCH ME FOR BEING OVERREACTIVE OVER STUFF LIKE THIS., I BIT THE BULLET AND DID SHUT IT DOWN AND WENT INTO SAFE MODE AND INITIATED SYSTEM RESTORE, AND EVERYTHING IS FINE NOW. I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH, EVEN IF I'M GRUMPY AND OVERREACTIVE A LOT.
MY VICTORY THEME:
SUCKS THEY DIDN'T WIN EUROVISION. BUT AT LEAST THE INTERNET KNOWS WHO THE REAL WINNERS ARE.
HUGE problem with both of these options - I just tried transfering Malwarebytes over to my laptop, and it was infected immediately.
I tried to open System Restore; virus attacked THAT. Basically, anything and everything on my laptop has been attacked and rendered useless. And I had to cut the internet from my laptop because apparently somebody obtained some of my files through the internet connection.
Can you use safe mode on your laptop, no internet connection but it should let you use system restore then? I know it gives me that option when I "power" shut down the laptop by holding down the power button for 5 seconds or more.
You are going to have to shut it down. You need to put it in safe mode and run the latest version of spybot search & destroy. Once you have done that, get malwarebytes and run it as well. Then unhook the internet and power on to normal mode and run every scrubber you have. Shutdown the system, restart, run them again. Then try system restore. Do not even try to purchase the thing claiming it can fix it. It is the trojan and it will steal your card number. If this does not work, you will have to go to a third party to remove your good files and wipe the system. I have had the same virus and this is more or less what I did to fix it. When you do get it fixed, you should make sure to load all of your windows updates.
I suggest downloading Avira anti vir now that this is all cleaned up, it's completely free, just run a full system scan every week or so, gets rid of viruses. It's what I use~
Avira Free, Spybot search and destroy, and malwarebites if you're partial to downloading.
I will say this for everyone reading: it is impossible for something to "just download itself". That's not how it works (: if it worked like that, we'd all be doomed. It doesn't work that; it is always, always, always something you have clicked on, have downloaded, have opened in an email. So be careful!
Matthieu - fkskfks I'll have to look into that. My AVG's running a scheduled scan now actually, rofl ;;
Dag - MY COMPUTER HATES ME, OKAY. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY. IT JUST...DOES.
I think I know where the virus actually came from; I'm quite convinced it was something from MangaShare. Looks like I have to go elsewhere to read things, rofl ;;
Sighthoundlady - I'm husbandless 8'D
And most of my family is computer-dumb. In fact, they usually end up coming to me if there's a problem ;;

Dunno if it would help at
