Technically they have no gender. It's just the game creators like the look of antlers. But there are a number of people who play their deer as a female, so you can, too. =]
There are many female characters in the game already, so don't fear. You can wear some of the so-called female antlers (the smaller ones) so that other deer with know you are a girl.
Like the comments above said, everyone's genderless. But a lot of people have both male and female characters, so you can be whatever you like. You can also stay genderless XD
