Non-Specific Deer (Abstract-ish)

AlisonRobin's picture
It's very rare that I get around to drawing deer because I don't often encounter them (and I like to draw animals that are alive in front of me), but I want to be drawing them more because there are, let's face it, jillions of awesome deer in The Endless Forest.

I'm using an abstract style while I get a better grasp of deer anatomy and proportions. I generally draw predatory quadrupeds and humans, and quadrupedal herbivores are quite new to me.

The first one is a fawn, the second one is a doe. They were made in a computer program called Alchemy, which I highly recommend to people who don't get frustrated when they do art.

Critique would be nice. Any suggestions what I should work on next?

I couldn't look at these without commenting, they are wonderful! Something about the clean yet messy look is so eye pleasing. :,D

Very cool, I think it is a good idea to work on the overall shape early on. Cervines are surprisingly unusual.
My only critique would be to be careful of the placement of the eye on the doe. Deer are prey animals and their eyes are on the sides of their head, located higher up so they can see behind them more easily.

I like these both, keep going.

I don't strive to be the best, but instead I strive to do my best, and always give it my all every time.
