i hate how short their lives are.. when we're dealing with their old age and the deaths i always say i cant do it anymore, but then i get a lil baby and im like MY CHEST and it's a vicious cycle for my heart.. my wife keeps saying we're not getting anymore but here we are.. and after we first picked up Mei (and before) she was absolutely adamant and refusing to pick her up or touch her "if the tail touches me we're getting rid of her" and as soon as we brought her home she's outstretching her hand "i want to hold her". And now she's as a crazy rat lady as me.

ive had sO many girls pee on everything tho (mei, the one who i swear should've been a boy) did it a lot.. honestly all of mine do it, even if it's just teeny tiny amounts, but the only one that never did in any capacity was Grace/'Mum'. Bless her i could have her out and never worry about pee streaks on the furniture

they're honestly the worst sigh ;; and like you said they're not sick? the cancer is so bad and grows so large but they're still 'normal' in every way except the lump and it's so heartbreaking seeing them lose weight and have trouble walking (when it gets large) and it's only because of that, they still have spirit and spunk and appetite siGH half of my girls have had to be put to sleep because of that cancer specifically and i hate it because besides that (and the weight loss they're fine)

i for sure want to get a couple boys when we have no more girls left, really give them my attention and hopefully experience what everyone talks about ;; two of my boys came from a pet store (the same one we got this new girl plus a couple other girls) and they were love bugs but a little squirmy to hold. Romeo ('Dad') still 'stress shit' (there's nothing worse smelling you cant change my mind) when being held 2 years after we brought him, and PROBABLY MY FAULT NOT GIVING ENOUGH FOCUSED ATTENTION but he was so so sweet when he wasn't being held, would come over to your hand and push his fat head under (he was a dumbo) and just lay there with his eyes closed waiting for pats. GOD I CANT WAIT TO HAVE JUST 2 BOYS LIKE THAT

All my ratlings were snakefood too. I had three, two boys and one rescue girl. Pikachu was my first and one of the best pets I ever had. I miss him so much. I don’t think I could ever have more because it’s so heartbreaking they don’t live long (and unfortunately they give me bad hives sob).

BB used to pinchbite my toes when he had to go and i'd put him back in the cage, let him do his thing and then take him back out. but these two for some reason are shameless gross little men. or maybe just too lazy to move. dISgUstED

girls are such trouble, and they're super active and want to go go go and arent that cuddly (except for mei), but they're so soft

once my girls have settled in they usually dont go out of their cage either (except if i just wake them up and take them out), otherwise i never see any poop out on the ground when they're popcorning and running around the lounge room bless

when i was googling around at some rat coat types (cause i wanted something a little more fancy than the pet stores here sell) i read up about the silvermane issues with aggression, and that there were two lines (from the same breeder who 'founded' it) which was the aggression and non aggression, and the breeder i got lua from had said her genetics came from the latter,, i mean i know people can lie but keeping my fingers crossed she's aBOUT 8-9 months old and so far so good :eyes:

it would probably cost the same here and i'd rather keep it for more pressing stuff too for the future sO guess i gotta get used to them draggy sacs

we're so blessed to have a handsome boy besides his pigeon legs, im just hoping his genetics and having a bit longer legs than some of the others will play a factor in him not getting that spine issue they're notorious for sweats im super fixated on keeping him fit and muscled/toned and wanting him a tiiiiny bit under the 'perfect' weight to keep as much weight off his back im constantly paranoid and worried about it

GOD NICE. i'd believe her mostly because if she's a breeder and she lied and had aggression pop up she'd be super screwed.. that's some bad reputation. by 9 months i'd think she's clear. just a cute fluffgirl forever

i've heard of some vets doing it for like $30 but that's in the US and i can barely get an appointment that ends in 'nothing's wrong idk lol go home and come back if it gets worse' for less than $70 AROUND HERE SO. I DOUBT I'LL BE FINDING ThOSE deals..

it took us a little bit for hershey to get on board with raw, even longer to get him on board with eating whole fish (he was so damn picky with some parts of it) but now he eats it like a champ and im so glad :pensive: (it took even longer for me to get my wife on board "raw food so much bacteria" she says as he eats geese shit at the park, now that was work but after she did a little research on raw diet herself she slowly got comfortable with it and now she's great.. i swear she believed we were going to be the only ones feeding our dog a raw diet)

honestly i was scared to watch it too, there's a few doco's i want to watch but im scared to because i dont want to know but it was so informative for me and literally changed my life and perception of things, and it really was the beginning of me looking into things that i never really thought about beforehand too much (like commercial pet food, spaying and neutering far too early amONG some other stuff that would probably be 'taboo' :eyes: ) Definitely give it a try one day when you're feeling brave, kimi!

I still do have some issues when it comes to Hershey and raw diet. He gets tired of the same stuff if he gets it weeks in a row, and it's like pulling teeth to get him to eat the fish I can find easily near our home. But the fish we get is larger and needs to be cut up, so i think it's awkward for him to eat. The raw website (My Pet Carnivore) has whole sardines that im going to get him next that i think he'll enjoy more because they're smaller. He's sort of fussy trying new things but gets sick of the same thing after a certain amount of time. He can be so fussy, but im glad at least that he'll eat it, and he loves ground meat which is a big portion of what we ordered. Getting him chicken necks and green tripe that he's never tried before so im excited to see how he likes both

we get sO many compliments about hershey's coat colour, shine and smoothness that im just like pls ask me what his diet is so i can tell you it's raw but they never do :pensive: only compliments

you're doing the best you can kimi, and the fact you have that mindset when it comes to raw is amazing THE LEGEND JUMPED OUT doing the absolute best you can for them (and wanting to go beyond despite impossibility) is better than a lot do for their pets ♥
