FAMILY
†Phaios, 'Pai'†; The mother, the guardian. Despite being an adoptive mother, Pica had looked up to the doe and felt a great sense of awe at her resilience, peace and inner strength. A calming and benevolent figure. Now, looking back, she now feels a sense of regret having not spent her time with the doe as wisely and taking her presence as granted. Missed achingly - however, a new pathway to take back her mother from the dead has arisen - excited, terrified and anxious.
Rossamund, 'Rossy'; Adoptive brother through Phaios. One of her most cherished relations, sometimes feels his overly caring nature will lead him to great trouble, and so has taken to try telling her brother to worry more for himself. A totem to her short childhood and better memories, is viciously protective of. Has recently learnt of his seeming ability to not die? Freaked out by this, but keeps it inside and unspoken of. Acknowledged as the 'better sibling' by Pica, Rossamund's the one that Pica will always turn to when distraught or otherwise.
Despite her obvious preference and endearment towards her brother, Pica always experiences a curl of guilt in her stomach whenever she sees his pale, drawn face. To her, she evidently isn't chalking up to what being a big sister is, and her inability to simply keep her brother company throughout most of his life and meet more of his friends stabs at her conscience constantly. Though he is one of her most fundamental relationships, she often feels as if she is inept and unable to take care of him as she should and is inadequate for meeting even the most basic standards of being a sibling. As such, she often believes that he may well be better off without her. Wracked with emotions of regret and self-reproach when she is alone and thinks about it too much.
(by Draak)
» extended/distant family
Isobel, 'Izzy'; A childhood friend, Pica is unaware of her tie as an adoptive half-sister through Phaios. Has always looked forwards to seeing her again, and is faintly anxious over, having not seen it a while.
Eve; Adoptive half-sister through Phaios, though is unaware of this. A long, loong time ago had interacted with her.
Mire; Adoptive half-brother through Phaios, though is unaware of this. A long, loong, even loooonger time.
Miriam; Adoptive half-sister through Phaios, though is unaware of this. Pica is dum okay she doesn't know many ppl
Morioch; Adoptive half-brother through Phaios, though is unaware of this. First interaction was negative, seeing that he'd targeted Rossamund with Thane.
FRIENDS
Lohtu, 'tutu'; A childhood friend, and almost considers him her brother. Probably her first source of bruises and pain, actually as a child, their daily ritual of very rough play and snuggles afterwards quintessential in strengthening their bond. Adores without failure and thoroughly enjoys company, be in the riotous moments or quiet spaces in between. Has always brought a sense of adventure and joy in her life. A constant throughout her younger years, has become scarce, and in her alone-time mulls over his disappearance. Not good for her, but does it anyway. Amused by the height difference between them now and treats him - whether he knows it or not - more gently than ever, aware of his small stature compared to hers now.
Monroe; Actually such a piece of shit in her mind, but even though she doesn't like him it doesn't mean she doesn't trust him. Loves to hate him, and showing any kind of genuine affection that isn't wrapped up in layers of sarcasm and prickliness is physically painful. She says she tolerates him because he's her brother's....... boyfriendo? not boyfriendo???? but honestly she kind of likes having someone to yell at. Deep deep deep down she thinks he's cool and a good friend but she'd rather be killed three and a half ways than admit it. Partly because she wouldn't be able to bear the insufferable, genuine glee he would react with - like, he pisses her off sooooooo bloody much, but idk he's still a friend in her book and if that doesn't say anything about their relationship--
Verve, 'Vur'; The dark, super-tall doe had been intimidating at first, but upon being introduced through Lohtu, finds her to be tons of fun and fascinating, with all her paints and colours. She had also been Pica's comfort after Phaios's death, and gifted the at-the-time child her current pendant in the likeliness of her mother as well as a small pouch of white paint. Now, having withdrawn into herself, rarely allows herself to visit the doe, feeling as if she doesn't belong in her presence and only drag her down.
ben 'funny of-same'; A friend who Pica finds is immensely amusing, having fun in romping around and spelling each other in different, sometimes ridiculous looks. Doesn't see much of now, but it may also be due to her recent inactivity.
ACQUAINTANCES
Ronra; Cool, buff lion-lady. Thinks she's cool. Ronra's cool.
Zorn; Kind of intimidated by his size, but realizes he's a bit of a huge fluffyball of dorky love. Pretty fun to be around, and if not anything else, a really good heater.
Xanos; Chill guy. Kind of intimidated at first due to his staggeringly huge
ass size, but realised he's a nice person to simply relax with. Would probably seek out for company again if given the chance. Also flirty things but it's k. Pica thinks it's funny.
Ramsus; An acquaintance through Lohtu, the ram terrified Pica in her youth. Presently, though, she has learnt to see past his appearance to truly enjoy his company. Believes him to be calm and stoic.
Gyors; Has only met the pup once, but foundered a slight distaste in it's needyness. Is aware he is Rossamund's charge.
DISLIKED
Unathi; Their first and only interaction had been negative. Upon being informed by her brother that the unicorn and her partner had hurt him repeatedly, stands on the belief that any action the unicorn takes is for malevolent reasons. Would keep a wary eye on.
Vittani; As a child, found the raptor doe to be a neutral figure - though she made no effort to protect Pica from her 'packmate',
did give her honey. >u> As she aged, the doe became more of an antagonistic figure in her eyes, on one occasion chasing Pica off with the intent to wound. Negative.
Raptor; A scarce form, but had chased and terrified her as a fawn. Big fat no.
Greitai, 'toothy'; Considered dangerous, and is something of her childhood 'arch enemy'. Enjoys taunting and being a brat to the raptor, though definitely not the bruises and scrapes afterwards. Holds an interesting relationship with the carnivore, Greitai admittedly being the only constant throughout her life, and as a result, is almost eager to see the raptor at times, her appearance marking some sort of stability throughout her existence.
lost..?
Israel, 'Izy'; Her lazybutt older 'brother'. Had promised her a long time ago to take her into the 'hooman' world, and though he has been absent from her life for a while now, still clings onto that promise, as a sign that he will reappear.
@Staff Latereplies.
Latereplies. <3 Gotta love them.

The fawn, peeking out from her 'disguise' of crytree, stiffened when the wing-thing seemed to stare directly at her. Even worse - sniffying the air. Maybe it wasn't a good thing to hide. After all, it seemed that her cover was blown once the red creature began stalking over to the crytree. Plan number two. If she couldn't go ahead and pushing it inna the water, then something else was needed. Turning as quietly as she could, she was stopped short when a red muzzle appeared, followed by two predatory eyes.
Fine. Her cover really had blown. Too bad, but she didn't really need it anyhows. Snicking her ears back and narrowing her eyes 'menacingly', Pica bristles her short fur and does a raspberry. "Tchah, wing-thing, go'way!"
@Waning
Short is sweet. Or was it short and sweet? O.o Anyhows. Don't worry.

Intrigued by the roundness of her tummy, Pica had leant over the best she could to inspect it critically, but now she perked one ear up and kept her gaze on her stomach as she patted it. Mumbling into her fur, the fawn half-hears the question, but caught enough to get the gist of it. Raising her head slowly, dramatically, Pica glares up at Acton. "Tummy nevah get sick of blueberries. Pica does, sometimes.[/]" She looks regretfully at the blade of grass.
"But then again, there ain't no other food than blueberries that taste nice 'round heah."

Vaharo widened his eyes, causing his slits to thin inside his eye. He moved closer to the fawn and tried to sniff around her ears. Vaharo looked more menacing than he was, thankfully his aggression was gone for now. Wing-thing? Is that what this fawn calls him? Vaharo figured he'd better speak soon, in case this fawn got the worsening idea that he was there to hurt her. Vaharo snorted and shook his head. "I have a name you know.. It's Vaharo." He gave the fawn some room, and leaned back away from the tree. He thought with his rather huge size that might also intimidate the fawn, but he couldn't help that sort of thing, so he decided to flatten a patch of grass and lay down.

Pica was slightly daunted, since there seemed to be no other of-same to rely on as backup, but she squared up and put on her 'tough girl' face. "Wing-thing don't scar-" Her sentence was interrupted by a violent headshake as she backed off hurriedly, her ears flapping about as she tried to ward off what she thought was a bite from the wing-thing. Turned out it wasn't when no stinging line of red-hurt appeared. Hm. Name? It had a name..? Didn't know not-sames had names.. Fine. He play nice, Pica play nice. Maybe. "Nup, Pica didn't know. Vahar." She'd deliberately made a nickname of the wing-thing, in hopes that she'd get to play mean.
@Echo
"HaHA! Pica gotcha. Pica gotcha good." The fawn decides on whether to roll off Rossy's legs, but decides against it. He wouldn't mind. Pica patted Rossy's tummy reassuringly. "Dun worry, Rossy, Pica won't squish you. Nice to cuddle on anyways." With a content huff, Pica settles down in his abundant dark fur.

The fawn eyed the wing-thing warily. Perhaps it was time to start trying to whack at him. She was further convinced when he got up and seemed to be about to use his wings. Pica tensed, ready to skitter off if he did, but ended up immensely confused when all it did was correct his name. So maybe he didn't get the jab. "Psh. Wharreva."
The wing-thing seemed okay though, up close. Even had pretty eyes. Lotsa colours in it's eyes. Pica was examining the red and gold colouring of the wing-thing's eyes when suddenly her attention was moved up to where a wispy black looking thing floated. Frowning, half-forgetting that the wing-thing was there, Pica sat and stared at it with fascination as it dissipated. Well, maybe Var had it's uses. Made pretty things in the air.
@Waning
"Jah. See? Pica don't have much else to eat. She stared wistfully off in the distance. "Wish Pica could eat different stuff. Crunchy stuff. Hot stuff. Cold stuff. All dat stuff." She motioned her head vaguely to emphasise the gigantic amounts of stuff she could eat if she weren't in this 'world'. Suddenly, she seemed to snap back into herself as she gazed up at Acton. "Acton been to another world before? Tea told Pica about worlds..." She muttered the last sentence, unsure if Acton knew Tea or not. Oh well.

The fawn had been staring at the spot where the wispy thing had disappeared - perhaps it would come back and play with her? Urgh. It didn't seem so - and staring up at the sky was beginning to hurt her eyes. She was about to turn her attention bak to the large presence beside her when she was bowled over backwards by the hooge gust of air that blew up as Var beat his wings as he got aloft. Splash. Surfacing, Pica splutters whatever colourful insults she could think up of right now, wet and beginning to accumulate mud in her fur. Again. "Yah, you big lump of tchah! A tree coulda walked into you and .." It continued on as she shook herself out into a spiky wet and grumpy fawn.
She was ready this time when Var touched down and was about to start raspberrying him when with a soft thump and rustle of leaves a branch was dropped next to her. Was he trying to whack her on the head?! Pica glared at Var before inspecting the branch, wondering if she could lift it to bonk it on the wing-thing's head too. But - whaa? Berries? Red and black? Never seen those before. Intrigued, Pica eyes Var, but with no expression to give away, she was stumped. Food? Or to make her sick? Undecided, Pica flops along with her happy-go-lucky nature and leans forward to nom on the biggest, juciest berry, still warm from the sun.
@Echo
Snuzzly. Cuddly. Schneegly. Nice. Pica almsot purrs from happiness, but seeing that she didn't have the right throat to make such a noise it came out in a strangled gurgle. Hopefully Rossy didn't mind the noise in his ear. It stopped, however when Rossy shifted positions and turned into an alarmed squeak as she tried to balance herself in all the fluff. It was hard, seeing that she wasn't even sure if that patch of fluff there had a Rossy underneath it or was just a patch of fluff hanging off the side of him. Urgh. Did a balancing act before tugging at his ear happily. "Not fun, since Pica can't run fast, but if itsa fun for Rossy, itsa fun for Pica." Still with that childlike love for her brother.

Yurp. Consider Pica as Izzy's then. No problemo. I'm sure this little fawn won't mind, and after all, Pica ain't letting go of her Izzy and Evie either.
@Waning
Pica had been watching him in a confused manner, but when he hopped up suddenly, as if having cold water splashed on him, Pica tried to scramble away in fear he was going to trample her. Failing that, her round stomach allowed her to roll around and vaguely out of the stag's way. "[=@6DD6CA]DUNSQWISHMEACT....on..?[/]" She trailed off when he seemed to begin smiling. Had she made him smile? Had she?! "Jah, well there the good forest, which is here, an the bad forest, which is somewhere there." Encouraged, Pica rattled off about the meagre knowledge she knew about worlds, looking up every now and then to inspect Acton's reaction.
@Staff
Berries were actually nice. Different from blueberries, and that was a change. Bulldozed through the branch, snaffling black and red berries alike with gusto. At last! A different taste! Waddled out after eating all the ones that were reomotely edoble and squishing the ones that weren't so that she left faint imprints of mulberry juice as she tottered her way over to a grooming Var. Gently lowered herself down to watch him. ".. Wings're fine. Why're you eating them?" She was curious on why he seemed to be trying to eat himself or something. Wriggling forwards eagerly, Pica was about to try nom on Var in case he actually tasted nice when the blackstuff whooshed out when he turned his gaze on her. Thank goodness she was down already, otherwise it would've gotten in her face.
After watching it float away, Pica turned her head back to Var and looked rather peevishly at him.

The fawn trailed off after a while when it seemed as if Acton wasn't getting the idea of worlds. "Pssh. Didn't Pica mention the bit where there are more worlds? Tea said so. Well, she said maybe, but that means yes, don't it?" Pica looks worryingly up at Acton, unsure how he was taking this.
@Staff-ery
"Grooming..? Never heard of it." For all she knew, Var coulda been makin' it up. The fawn tried not to shrink back with the prominently tusked (?) head lowered near her and instead did her best to look fearless, sticking out of chest and looking down her small nose onto him. "Tchah, whatcha doin'? [insert long pause here] ... please." This is what happens when she gets curious of a strange behaviour from the wing-thing. Seemed to be laughing at her, though.

Thoughts of mulberries flashing in her mind and her eagerness to get more, the fawn doesn't notice as much when Var snorts rather derisively. Instead, she was dreaming about how o get at the berries - assuming that they were around ground-height. Var was a strange thing. For one, he was big. Verrah big. Two, he had wings. Pica didn't. Wonder how he got them.. The small fawn was musing around on this when Var got up and did something weird with his wing. "Are we getting more of the black-red berries?" Pica looks up hopefully, but still unsure about what he wanted to do.
Perhaps he was bringing her there so she could eat as many as she want..?
@Waning
"No, yes, what does it matter?" Pica shrugs and nibbles at her hoof, trying to find something nice to eat. Squished grass juice, but that was it. With a frustrated sigh, the fawn stomps it down. "Pica can't go out anyways. Tried lookin' for ways an' it didn't work. So there." And no more strange foods to try. Just blueberries. Yerk.

"Uh. Flight. Hokay!" She had a vague idea what Var wanted her to do - but judging from how he hadn't sat on her yet, mebbe he meant good..? If it meant getting the nice berries again, she'd be more than happy to sit on his back. What she didn't know was that he was actually going to flyfly, while Pica thought he was just going to glide around. Happily, albeit warily, Pica clambers up Var's wing, using the small, fine bones in his wing to use as a ladder, though she gingerly placed each hoof for fear of breaking them.

The fawn looks surprised at Rossamund's words - it didn't seem that she would've thought that he would consider her feelings so much. Unsure and rather embarassed at being asked so seriously, Pica waves a foreleg vaugely, "Uh - Well, it's fine by Pica. Just methinks that uh. Not light enough to run very fast." She looks ruefully at Rossy's normal frame. Sure, she burnt off the energy fast, but these days she did little more than wake for a tiny while to sit with others. And she was still pigging the same amount of blueberries everyday.

@Staff She was just getting
She was just getting to the last few bonies in his wing when she was pitched forward with a soft whumph, with a few moments later popping back up, unharmed, but dealing with an aching nose. "Whab't dat for?!" The small fawn seemed rather indignant to have her nose smooshed into the dragon-stag's muscular shoulder, but that was soon forgotten when she casually peered over to see exactly how tall Var was. Apparently too tall, as Pica shrank back down unhappily, only deigning to stay on because of the tempt of those delicious berries.
Pica whimpered quietly and scrabbled her hooves weakly around in an attempt to try get down safely, any was she could and ended up flailing all legs around to get down on the ground, whichever way she could and without meaning to got her hooves roughly in the position to secure herself for the flight.
Thank you, Tuo and Kohva!
"No way out..." he repeated,
Vaharo perked his ears and
@Waning Pica was now
Pica was now progressing to the stage where rubbing around on the grass was essential for the furious itch she had on her back. Wriggling and rolling around, Pica's ears caught most of Acton's thoughtful sounding words, full of dirt as they were. "Jah, butcha got to find the doors first. 'N Pica's tried alla 'em." A peeved expression crossed her features then - must be because she was remembering the whole day spent galumphing around the forest, poking, prodding and headbutting anything she felt that would be a door.
@Staff
As soon as Var started skimming around the forest, Pica was certain he was out to kill her, or topple her off. The fawn had shrieked and cringed into the coarse fur, grabbing onto a hunk with her teeth, though it truth he actually didn't taste very good at all. No wonder she didn't see many other of-sames 'preening'. But that wasn't the point now - the point was that Pica could see the grass blurring all together into a hard looking, spiky ground with only the shadow of the wing-thing that was keeping pace with their speed. Which made Pica feel sick - she was obviously not a creature of the air. Between pauses that sounded vaguely like Pica was holding back the berries from earlier from spilling out, the fawn croaked out, "Wharra... Why... we doin' this... a-"
She was cut off when they stopped and a rolling motion of Var walking occurred, and a large branch nearly landing on Pica again, but she didn't mind - not when they were laden with glistening black and red berries. The little glutton dimly heard Var's words as her ears were full of the sound of her chomping busily on the berries, smearing his back fur with bits of the dropped delicacies.

About that time Pica, in her sprawled position watched curiously as Var turned his rather flexible neck around to fiddle with the fur around her forelegs as she resisted the urge to flail at his nose when his mouth full of toothies got too close. (Her face: :<) Then he did the same to the other, now with Pica staring at his quick work with occaisional snatches of mulberries in between. The fawn was inspecting these bits of knotted fur that bound her forelegs to Var's back when she was startled with the whispery rustle of his wings unfolding and promptly choked on her mouthful of half-chewed mulberries.
Darnit, they were HOOGE. The thin membranes of Var's wings stretched out on either side of the small fluff, giving her a very vague idea exactly how wide they were. The fawn was warily peering over the sides of the dragon-stag's neck to inspect the shadows the wings made when she jerked her head up upon feeling movement in Var's neck muscles as he turned his head around again. Hurriedly arranging her tough-girl face, Pica frowned in an attempt to cover her dim fear of heights and mumbled, "We gunna fly or not? .... An' you got big wings, Var. As in verrah big."

Rossamund gazed thoughtfully at Pica over his shoulder. Perhaps if she exercised more... "If you practice running more, you could go faster, I think. And maybe eat a little less berries. I could practice with you!" He perked his ears up, excited by the notion.
To Staff: (Sorry for the
Pica was beginning to feel uncomfortable under Var's blank face and had begun shifting awkwardly and considering sliding off when with an alarming bump and dip, the fawn was yanked up into the air with only the dragon-stag's fur wrapped around her forelegs keeping her in place. And yelling. Don't forget the damn-loud, high-pitched fawn secured on his back. It was a terrifying experience for Pica to be buffeted by winds and knowing the only thing between her and the firm ground were Var's wings.
She was so preoccupied with wondering with horror how she'd fall that she realised that her forelegs weren't being yanked by his fur, and that the wind which had made her eyes squeeze shut was gentler. They had got to the part where the grassy plains were able to be seem before Pica yanked her thoughts away from the ground and to the shimmery grasses in the wind, eyes wide with fear and confusion. Wasn't there supposed to be grass there...? The fawn, hunched up against the neck of Vaharo merely stared at all the strange places that were familiar, but unfamiliar all at once when viewing from the air, felt vaguely grateful when they settled on the ground. Half frozen in the cold wind - since Vaharo's head and neck couldn't prevent all the icy wind from blasting the fawn - and still trying to comprehend the strange perspective she had seen the forest from, Pica didn't particularly notice when Var blew out the wispy things again, still seeing with her mind's eye the forest and the plains as she sat on the dragon-stag and stared dumbly at the ground.
To Echosong: (Oh well. <3)
Perched relatively comfortably on Rossy, the fawn only noticed Rossy's stare on her after a few seconds or so and she twitched her head around to look down on Rossy's endearingly flat face. Even the little twitch made her wobble, and the fawn hoped that, one, her 'brother' didn't mind getting sat on, and two, he also wouldn't mind her using his head as a support as she rested her chin on it. Whatever Rossy said though, must be true, so Pica perked her ears as he took a breath to speak. Instantly regretted it when he told her to actually exercise. Laying off the berries was almost just as bad, but then again, they weren't always that nice. Since they got boring.
Putting on a pouty-face, Pica took her chin off to make puppy-eyes at her brother and began whining. - "But Rossy! I don't wanna exercise! It's haaard." She blinked soulfully at him, hoping that he'd have another alternative for her to be lighter, yet stick to her regular diet/lazing.
