Phaios:
The brute gazed up at the umber doe, meeting her bright eyes. She seemed almost as exhausted as he was from all the action. "Please, don't mention it. It's the least I can do to rid the world of filth like him...I'd hate to see this peaceful forest suffer from such creatures," the blue stag replied, still infuriated by the wolf's choice of pray.
In truth, he was in bad condition. Gashes from the previous days' battles had reopened along his flank, soaking his sapphire pelt with sticky, red blood. His legs shook, trembling with the effort of trying to keep his large frame standing strong, but were failing miserably. His muzzle was scratched and his newly-revealed face was badly bruised. On top of it, he was terribly tired, but too wary to sleep right away, in case the mutt came back.

Sure! I'm game for a little
Seems like now is as good a time as any. Since he has more of a reason to seek him out.
Blue hide, wounds? Check. Deer faced? Check. Okay...so...wait, what was his name again? Zash floundered for a few moments, staring at the ground as he tried to find this male's name. It took him...a while... to just get the courage to seek him out, to thank him for watching out for Aria, let alone all the energy he had to slowly creep his way across the forest in search of him.
He found the only name that seemed to fit, "Caden...right?" He asked suddenly, bringing his gaze up to look at him as he limped a few steps out of the trees.
The shadows cast by the trees
Caden turned his head to face the intruder, tilting it to the side curiously. It took him several moments of pondering to figure out where he'd seen this face before, and whether it was friend or foe. However, his cerulean gaze softened when he recalled the brute from their most recent battle. "Oh, pardon me. I didn't recognize you at first. Yes, it is...I'm sorry, but remind me of your name? I've been a bit spacey these past few days...I'm sorry if I come off rude."
The last time he saw him, Caden must've overlooked the buck's poor condition in the heat of the moment. Now that he had a clear chance to observe him, the drake noticed he was ghastly-thin, scarred, and on top of it all he had only three limbs! Immediately, the raven-colored steed felt pity towards him, and didn't bother to fight the emotion from showing on his face. He was still unused to hiding expressions, as he was so accustomed to having a mask do the work for him.
"It's alright," he replied
(Oh, oops, didn't realize he
Caden dipped his head humbly. "No need to thank me. I couldn't sit by and do nothing while that savage thing went after two newborns...It makes me a little sad to see that yet another enemy has entered the forest," he breathed glumly, before gazing back up at the fellow. "But it is nice to meet you properly, Zash."
(It's all good. Neither
"Yeah..." he sighed as well, thinking that he had another creature to watch out for, one that he didn't even really know what it looked like. A 'wolf' could vary in the forest. "What...what did it look like? The wolf that attacked...?" he asked after a few moments, his gaze going to the male. He had a feeling that he would be able to figure it out in a moment if the monster meant harm or not, but he wanted to take that a step ahead by knowing it by sight alone. He might stand a chance of living a little longer.
(sorry this post's kind of
Caden tilted his head to the stranger. It was an odd question to ask on a first meeting. But the stag understood where the other was coming from. "Erm...well...he was very large, and he seemed more wolf-like than most of the canine creatures that prowl around this forest...and his pelt wasn't quiet solid grey. It seemed to have a more purple hue, if I recall correctly. He was awfully mean-looking," he looked away as he spoke, returned his gaze to Zash after he'd finished describing the brute.
"You're a friend of Aria's?" he had to ask, for the sake of the doe's protection. He didn't doubt this creature was kind-hearted, but he felt obligated to question him all the same.
Don't worry about it. It's
Zash mentally tried to create a visual of what the monster looked like, but the description of purple gray fur threw him off a bit. Mean looking. Well he could spot that a mile away if he had to. It was the ones that didn't look so mean that scared him. If they were good at hiding it, he might not read it well enough to catch on immediately. At least mean looking already meant he was on alert.
"Yes. We go a ways back. We met once, in our past lives...and actually her late mate reintroduced us when we ended up here..." he trailed off for a moment, his gaze shifted toward the ground, "I'm just not the best at watching out for her. I make a better decoy than I do a protector, unfortunately." Why he was confessing this to the other male, he wasn't sure but he felt he had to. Something in his voice compelled him to. "She's like a sister to me..." he lapsed into silence after a few moments, "I just...yeah. Thank you again Caden. You didn't have to help, but you did anyway." He went silent after that, feeling he was just digging himself into the ground since he didn't know what else to say.

The blue stag rested in a bed of purple flowers, enjoying the sun as much as the flourishing fauna, lazily taking in the bright rays. He was feeling wonderful; nearly healed and back on track with his life.
The sweet, soft tone of a familiar voice dragged him out of his daydreaming. The brute glanced in the direction it had come from, and beamed when he saw his guess was correct, "Aria! It's good to see you looking healthy and well. How are the fawns? Are they alright?" He dearly hoped that the efforts of the doe's protectors had not been in vain. Last he heard, one or both of the babes had suffered from injury during the battle. 'Gods, please tell me they've been better and not worse,' Caden thought.
She smiled as he did and

(Sorry it's taken so long;
Caden thought carefully on her request for repayment. The stag had trouble coming up with anything for a time, when at last an idea hit him, and he cleared his throat, "Actually, there is something. . .with your permission, I would like to be able to guard these fawns, so that no further harm can come to them. I know you have many loved ones already on the job, but if I could be accepted as one of those protectors, it would bring me great honor." He spoke cautiously, worried that the doe might take offense or think him a cad. Of course, the notion that he might come off as creepy to want to be so close to her and her fawns crossed his mind, but there was something about this family that pushed this feeling across his tongue. This doe was so kind and gentle, and to see such a pure heart lose her children would be devastating to the cerulean brute. He wanted to prevent it at all costs!
(its ok sorry I took so long
She couldn't help but smile and give a gentle laugh."Oh Caden I do not mind in the slightest. I accept your offer. However promise me you will not put yourself in unneeded harm. I would hate to see a new friend injured badly"she said placing her front legs close together and her ears went flat as a rather worried look crossed her face. A typical pose for the small white doe. "Other than that I would very much love having you around helping keep watch. It is difficult watching out for the little ones alone when the others are away" She admitted shyly.

The white doe looked up at the buck that joined them. She enjoyed seeing him around and with him and Zash she felt a little better."Hello Caden" She said in her soft sweet voice. Her face was raged with sleeplessness and depression though she forced a smile to not worry him.

The blue stag didn't say anything at first. He gave a weak smile in return, but the frail tone of her voice was all he needed to hear to know of her desolate state. He took a few steps forward, delicately, giving a brief nod to Zash to acknowledge the buck. Caden knew how close these two were, and he didn't want to impose himself on their relationship in any way, but he was worried about Aria. So, he went ahead and took a seat beside the alabaster fem, not waiting for a response.
"Aria, are you. . .alright?" It was a silly question. Of course she wasn't! Immediately, Caden regretted those being his first words, and tried to fix the situation, "I-I'm sorry. That was foolish of me. I do hope you are feeling a bit better, though. . ."
She shook her head"No..I'm

Caden nodded glumly, but felt a certain disagreement rise when the white lady stated that Phaios had "left". "She's not gone! Do not say things like that. . .I didn't know her very well, but I'm sure she would be terribly troubled to see her daughter so. . .forlorn," he stopped himself from saying any more, though he wanted to tell her to be happy; to move on and embrace the life that she was given. How could he, though? This poor creature had already lost so much; how could he tell someone so broken to stay strong and carry on with a smile?
