"The poisons aren't helping anymore.
I keep up my consumption though, afraid...- afraid of what will happen if I give up. Ha. No. I know very well what will happen. I'll be overcome by madness- like my mother; my brother. For so long now, spiteing them has been my motivation to keep going. I thought I could prove them wrong. I thought I could show them that I was capable of love, and that others were capable of loving me, too.
Always the fool...
It's all a joke now - waking up every day, going through the motions. Do I look thinner? Sometimes I forget to eat...Well, aside from the plants that feed by growing nausea. I feel so sick, but somehow it's still better than the alternative...
I did venture down to the pond today. I stood ankle-deep in the water for the longest time, staring out across it's surface, looking for those devilish eyes amongst the lilypads. 'Neath...would he take me if I lay down and offer myself? Could it be that easy? He never showed, of course, and I remember laughing so hard I had to vomit in the reeds.
Heh, 'reed's. A fitting place for vomit.
The taste of my own blood still lingers on my tongue. Perhaps I wont have to go looking for the Reaper. Perhaps he'll find me first. I shouldn't care, but...the thought doesn't sit well with me. I can't die from this. I can't simply lay down and let myself wither away. But why? It was not as though my existance deserved an anymore nobler end... Yet my body aches - not just from sickness, but restlessness. That old familiar masochism that yearns for a more violent death. Go down fighting? There was an idea...
Alas, just an idea. I've always been full of silly ideas. In the end, would it really matter? Dead was dead. Nobody would waste their magic on me, drag me back from hell or revive my soul. There would be no regrets. There'd be nothing at all. I have no immediate plans to act on any such ideas, of course. I've been accused of overthinking things, and now is no different. Sitting here, alone, the sun on my bare face, it's easy to roll thoughts of my own mortality through my head
I would miss the sun."
D wanted this to be in his own words this time...
Also, relations updates.
General
Name: Darcy. Prefers just 'D' Gender: Stag Age: Late Thirties (Birthday: June 9th) Size: #13 Voice: Similar to Ethan Hawke Scent: Old Spice 8| The man your man could smell like~ Set: Monarch Pelt, Real Deer Mask, Fan Antlers
Personality
Laid back and easy-going, Darcy isn't the hardest stag to get along with. He's generally accepting of strangers big and small and takes anything 'out of the ordinary' in stride. While he has his charming and polite moments, the stag's humor is generally pretty dry. Sarcasm is a second language and making a joke out of everything is second nature. There's also a definitive air of self-confidence about him that makes up for his lack of size and general bulk. He faces challenges head on and all too often with a smirk on his face. Darcy has very strong principals and rules that make up his sense of 'right and wrong' and follows them closely...even if they sometimes seem a bit contradictory to others. He often expects the same courteousness in return and may pass judgement quickly on anyone who doesn't heed those expectations. Rudeness is something he doesn't take lightly.
Once a loyal and fiercely protective friend and lover, Darcy is now weary of close connections. He thrives on casual encounters, intimate or otherwise, and will reject any company he feels may be getting too close, or who is already close and straying - a 'hurt them before they hurt me' mentality. When he does acquire a friend or a lover, Darcy can lay the charm on thick. He's calm, sensitive, respectful and attentive, giving a deer exactly what they need when the occasion calls that he give anything at all - unless, of course, what they need goes against his own principals. He rarely ever opens up to anyone, unless you somehow manage to slip past his censors and grow closer to him then he often permits. His smile often times hides lies and the something that brews beneath his calm exterior can sometime be seen through his eyes and subtle expressions.
When he acquires an enemy, however, Darcy can hold grudges. He may even go out of his way to spite another if he feels the 'hurt' must be repaid. He holds no biased between males or females, treating them equally, and sometimes even fawns, though he adjusts his tactics according to weakness. He's not afraid of a fight, though he may refrain from one of loss is a certainty. Most of the time his confidence in his abilities trumps any doubt and he'll rush headlong into competition in ways that may appear reckless to most. When he fights, Darcy fights dirty. Quick on his feet and skilled with his maneuvers, he'll take down his opponent however he can if it's a serious battle. If not, he may enjoy teasing and taunting his enemy more then harming them, keeping just out of harm's way and dancing at the edge of danger.
There is a darkness in Darcy, of that you can be sure...but also a lot of light. He no longer is the stag he once was, but glimpses can still be seen beneath a colder, more distant mask. There is always a certain sadness and secretiveness about him, clear in his slow, thought-out expressions and careful words. He does his best to control the worst side of him through a variety of methods, and ignores the judgement passed on him. In anger and distress though, he sometimes loses all control and lets the darkness out in irrational bursts. During these times, he is a mere shadow of himself, empty yet full of rage and despair.
Watched him there, rolled her eyes and gave something of a 'cht' after drawing in his words, after he finished up. Long tail plumes flicked to one side, bringing herself to a stand then trotting to one of the nearby tree's, circling then leaning against it. Gaze was lazily cast off in no particular direction. "Change is for those who fall victim to everyone else's ideal person", a single ear would flick, again she rolled her eyes before casting her gaze over the other there. "But...", the doe pulled from the tree letting fluid, swift steps carry her closer, hovering if able. "I am your biggest fan, always have been, couldn't just leave you to your own devices", and her she would lower herself atop of him if allowed. Whether she was successful or not was of no concern, continued talking, it's what she did best. "Oh no, no, that will not do. You're my knight in shining armor, I seen that long ago, baby. Though I disagree, you lack both looks and style".
That grin never faded, and those eyes never left her. He did however shift when she stood, sitting upright and lightly shaking the dirt from his curls. Amber eyes darkened as she spoke, then approached again, and for small doe she still seemed opposing as she loomed above him. Then again, he knew what she was capable of. Had seen it so many times...Why then did he not feel an ounce of regret in being with her now? A moment more, and she was on him, her weight slight but enough to push the air from his lungs and a heavy sigh. The smirk faltered and the muscles in his scarred face tightened as he turned his head and looked back at her, watching. Always so closely watching. "My biggest fan," he reapeated, his tone flat. "Is this what you do, sweetheart? To lure all those big, tough men to your web? Whisper flattery in their ear like a siren's song on the breeze?" His voice was low now, soft too, almost sensual and he leaned in close to her ear. His faded grin turned into a whistful smile, and he slowly shook his head. Indifferent, he was. They were all fools...but not him. "Well then, enlighten me...if it's not my looks or charm then what quality could I possess to deserve such-" he paused to lean in, just behind her jaw, and exhale a hot breath, " charity?"
Going through the motions, after having him there beneath her, no matter how much larger, would note that she liked his fur. No matter the length, texture, or quality of it. The phoenix had a thing for this, always rolling, the ecstasy naturally coursed through her. All shapes and sizes, damn did it always feel good to feel the heat of another, their fur, their closeness. Went about rubbing a cheek across wherever possible, dared to lick him even, smell him. Intensified her high.
He wouldn't be forgotten so easily now, though had he ever been forgotten? Stashed away into some dark corner of her mind, but not quite tossed out. She simply retrieved him from a dusty corner and recollected on their past. All of the memories were there. This however was different. Where only hatred existed, as she would see it, now there was closeness. To be stalked and loved forever? Who knew. To try and destroy him later? There was no telling. Allowing her this however, there was bound to be something to come of it.
Her company's sigh did not go unnoticed, though she did not address it. Went about rubbing, licking, and smelling... obsessing. Might have taken the time to catch that he had shifted his gaze to rest upon her, but only by the corner of an eye, nonchalantly, wouldn't have offered the same steady gaze in return. "I give them whatever they ask for", the phoenix would coo, feeling this to be truth, though lacked the finer details. Left gaps. Went about sliding off of him, resting there on her back, front legs tucked into her chest all the while looking up, whether his face was within view or not. "You were lonely", she would assume, "I am simply curing this", a smirk would find its way to her lips, "And you came to me first, though unlike you will not question why", because she didn't care too much to know, and anyways had formed her own assumption and was therefor satisfied.
"Hmph," he snorted as the doe slid from on top of him, using the slope of his sides to roll gracefully onto her back. A vulnerable position to be sure, but slearly she felt comfortable enough. The idea sparked amusement in Darcy. If he were to get any kind of revenge for past discretions, now would be the time. Yet, the stag did nothing. He lifted his head a bit higher and inclined his neck to study her at this new angle. Such a beauty, in that rough, hawkish way he liked. Did her scars outnumber his own? "Well I'm glad we're on the same page then," the stag mused, though he doubted this was the full story. "We agree to keep this casual then?"
Revenge, could of been so easy. The doe didn't seem intimidated in the slightest though. If one were to seek revenge, well, had she not already been through and experienced it all? Twisted enough, savage beating or death would love it. Had contemplated death more than once. The phoenix did live life on the edge, full of drama and danger. Ended up rolling over and bringing herself to a stand once more, moving away from him. "Casual is boring", she said gruelingly, seemed her movements had grown lethargic. Looked to him briefly before plopping down and curling into herself. "Should let yourself experience life more", she'd let slip, "But take your time", for she had all of the time in the world. Making no sense, probably. Oh well.
The smile faded from his lips as she stood and began to move off. Strangely enough, it didn't surprise him. He had witnessed the doe fall for stags and obsess over them...hardly 'casual' as he'd call it. The muscles around his eyes tightened, accentuating the wrinkles in his face and betraying his age. "Not willing to play with me, then?" he nearly snorted at her. So predictable. His eyes stayed locked on her as she moved some distance away and seated herself again. At her next string of words, the smile vanished completely. "I've experienced quite enough of life. I tire of prolonged normality. What is 'boring' is a lack of change. You should try it sometime..."
Shook her head faintly there curled into herself, that smirk of her own was reemerging, hidden for the time being. By the time the other was finished would lift her head, a short, halfhearted chuckle given before capturing her bottom lip between teeth. Seemed quite amused. "We can play as much as you'd like", ears would sway forward, maintaining that cheerful expression. "Is that so?", figuring the guy had been brainwashed or was trying to be 'down to earth', get in touch with themselves or something. Feeding themselves a bunch of bullshit. "Well, you know my views on change", tilted her head just a bit, "So sheep, what's the next step?", she raked her eyes over him, slowly that one expression was fading out, leaving seriousness in its wake. "High off your ass if you think you've changed", a snort given, "None of us change, don't be a dumbass and blind yourself. However, fake whatever you want to as much as you want to".
Darcy rolled to his opposite side, shifting a leg out from under him and resting his head down upon it to stare her down in comfort. He seemed relaxed, at ease in her company. He was. Brows lifted as she spoke, her gaze narrowing in its intensity. Darcy remained unaffected, if not a little amused. His words, it seemed, had had some affect on her, and that was a little revenge in itself. "Calm down," he finally spoke, or chuckled rather, unable to contain the humor. The stag shook his head slowly. "I happen to disagree with you, luv, and I assure you I'm perfectly sober. Ok, that's a lie." He laughed again. "Point is, I have changed. You know nothing about me to say otherwise, though the very fact that I'm not trying to kill you right now should be proof enough. But believe me or don't...I don't really care. Now get your ass back over here, there's a chill..."
Was growing bitter with him. She was entitled to mess around and poke fun, but clearly he was not. So she stiffened over there, fur and feathers alike all puffed out. Oh so flustered with each word that slipped from the others lips. Scoped their face, was reminded of how attractive they were, but oh, they were so frustrating.
Hated those who apparently changed for the better, for the better meant they'd soon enough join the masses. Considered whether or not the other would be worth her time at this point. Why? when they'd soon enough join the masses she'd be left behind, when time could be better spent elsewhere, on a more naive individual... yet, there was something challenging here among a few other things circling her mind. Perhaps why she stayed glued there rather than standing up and simply trotting away.
Seriousness was still evident in her expression, ears had swayed and buckled back even. Hated how he was somehow managing to turn things around on her. Not very nice of him, laughing at this stuff. "No", was all she could reluctantly manage right away, though as she bitterly eyed him over there would begin to ease up some minutes later. "You come to me", she'd request. Couldn't be letting him get away with her going to him now could she? That would be spoiling him.
The stag's mouth twitched at that, thick, scarred brows lifting high above incredulous eyes. There was a long pause as he considered her request. It was not so much due to her own pride, but out of concern of how she might take it if he obliged. Another faint breeze passed, and he made up his mind. He wanted to be close to someone, and nothing, not even pride would keep him from his goal. Darcy lifted his head and shifted lazily to his feet, rolling his shoulders and stretching before ever so slowly walking over to her. He all but collapsed at her side, resting his head on her rear and rubbing, humming a little in his throat. "You're angry," he mused quietly.
Wasn't sold on the idea that she had this guy wrapped around her finger, and wouldn't be considering it, although by default sort of treated others as if they were exactly where she wanted them. Confidence? Her own blindness? Just one state of mind. Once he was settled beside her and began to rub at her rear didn't mind this... never minded attention, no matter how it came. Ended up sighing gently and resting her head into his side. Whatever anger there was had vanished now. "I liked you how you were before", admitted this before sighing once more. "Now you're just a simple pansy". She was trying to be sweet... in her own way.
He paused when she poke, an ear lifting before his head did, chin propped upon her hip as he craned his neck to gaze back at her, expressionless. "Before," he repeated, shrugging off the last bit about being a pansy. He'd been called far worse, by people who meant far more to him, after all. His brows knit as he considered that one word, though. Before...before what? "You did not 'know' me before...And according to you, I haven't changed, right? But, say I'll humor you. What about 'before' could you possibly have liked?"
Began to assume the stags memory was seriously flawed or something. Fixed him with a look fit for a fool. "Uhm", she started sarcastically, eyes darted one direction briefly before returning to him. "You used to despise me, tried to attack me more than once", about brought that one guy into it... what was his name again? Ah, couldn't even remember. Intentional faulty memory on her part though. Decided against mentioning that one friend. "And here you are now coming to me by request", not to mention how nice he had been. Thus was born a pansy in her eyes. "You haven't changed, you're faking all of this", rolled her eyes. "I liked that you weren't a lying fool", never mind the fact that she felt she could make him bend over backwards if she wanted to. Perhaps not now, but in the future. Delirious, maybe. Would not be admitting to any possible changes on his end, nope. Would stand by the idea that he was faking and would eventually relapse. Probably had the audacity to try and pull free that asshole she once knew too, given some time.
Faking. So this was her conclusion, was it? The stag's nostrols flared as he huffed, a mixture of laughter and disbelief. She really was something. "I despised you, yes...that is true," he spoke calmly, off-handedly as though it didn't matter. "I might go so far as to say I wanted you dead. The past tense is important here, I'll have you note. Even you yourself used it. So why pretend you think I'm faking? What could I possibly gain from it?" Darcy paused again, glancing away from her to scan the forest slowly. "Also, you're wrong about one thing...I've always been a lying fool. That...that is something that will never change...So really, you still haven't answered my question."
Ended up lowering her head back down, easing up some. Wasn't all too upset, perhaps a little frustrated though, got over it fast enough. Trailed whatever pattern or design was visible where eyes rested, something of a small snort given. Figured he wanted revenge but did not mention it. "What have you gained from change?", she would question, why it mattered was uncertain, why she even talked to him was even beyond her now, losing sight of previous reasons to stay. A part of her wanted to up and leave anyways, maybe she would soon. "You never answered my question", she pointed out, "Where all of your friends have gone".
Was this acceptance? Probably not, he chuckled inwardly to himself, but the question actually sparked his interest. "Gained...I've gained little," he admitted quietly, resting his head back down upon her haunch, sighing. "I said I've changed...not that I've changed for the better. No...I'm done trying to be what others want me to. That includes you too, sweetness." The corner of his mouth lifted again teasingly...before her next words forced it to fade. 'Friends'. The thought caused a wave of nausea to ripple through his stomach. "Nobody's ever your friend for long...It took me too long to realize it."
Oh, so her thoughts of him changing for the better were wrong. Then again, what he thought was for the better and what she did probably vastly differed. So not changing for the better, as he put it, could be changes for the better in her mind. Did not dwell on this, not right now anyways. Allowed him to rest his head there on her haunch, continued to stare at the abstract patterns on his coat, a single ear flickered now and again. "Whatever you say", is all she'd offer him there, quite done with that particular aspect of the topic. "It's true", moved in closer to his side, "They all come and go, shatter your loyalties...", a brief pause, "And you're left with the memories", would rub into his side. "Sounds like you haven't quite met the right individuals yet, is all". Oh, she was being rather sweet now. "Maybe... maybe if I showed you what it was like? To have a 'real' friend. Don't have to believe me now, I could show you, despite our rough past".
Ah, so he'd shown her a weakness, and as he should have predicted, she was going for it, like a fly to a wound. His brows furrowed as he watched her, once distant, now shifting closer, drawing her head around to nuzzle into his side. He didn't move, only watched a master at work, caressing him and purring to him. It...saddened him. He had only wanted a casual relationship, yet everyone sought to destroy him in the end, didn't they? Darcy let his eyes close and silence followed once the doe was done speaking. A long, drawn out silence until his eyes opened again and looked away from her. "I thought you'd be different," he murmured, ears falling back as he stared off into the trees. "You're right, I don't believe you, and even if you did show me you'd only change your mind later. Once you realize you can't change what I am, you too will pull away. No...I like us here. Now. Simple.
It was in her nature, years of abuse and trauma, thrown into this forest simply went wild. All of it got out of control. Didn't mean something deep within never burned for changes of her own. What destroyed progress? Closeness, as it always did. An old tale, everyone had experienced it. They all came and went, they all sought to drop and shatter another at some point. One could not understand what one had never endured. Though Sianna was capable of relating to this bull, this man, a man with his own mind, his own thoughts and all. Set apart, not alike.
Rubbed into him, and this was sincerely for in the moment something within had lit up, a dull flame rising, until of course they went to put it out. Retracted, though while the fire was nothing but dispersing smoke at that point, there was a softness to her eyes as she looked to him and tenderness to her tone. "But you are who you are", ears would draw back, "Why would I ever try to change you? I never tried before. I am trying to understand you now". Fell silent thereafter no matter how brief. "I like us here now too, simple as it is, but you will see I am not going to be the one to pull away, nor change my mind". Who knew how true that actually was? In her head it was not her who often pulled away, but others were incapable of enduring her, despite her efforts to endure them. "But now and simple is fine", and would leave it at that, tucking her head back into his side. Either a master or something very misconstrued.
Simple. Why couldn't more things be simple? Why could they all have taken him at his word? He was dangerous, he'd told them. The drugs were for their own safety, he assured them. He would never betray them. He would fight by their side. protect them. Love them... It was all the truth, and yet, in the end, every relationship he'd ever been a part of had been a lie. His whole life felt like a joke, sneering at him from the cooridors of his memories. He'd had no choice but to change...Change, or die. That...wasn't so simple.
Darcy slowly looked back as the pressure upon his side intensified. The doe tucked her head, looking so much smaller as she wrapped herself against him. He narrowed his eyes warily, wondering what she was planning this time...yet he couldn't deny, it felt good. Being close to someone...he still needed that. And this? This was the only way. He frowned at the thought, then a second later, buried his face into her fur. "Thank you," was all he could murmur before another hot breath was exhaled into her skin. She could be lying...probably was. She wouldn't be content with just this. But for now...now he was grateful she had relented. Their encounters would not end this night, at least.
I saw this guy limping into the Birch earlier.. pfft, Starling was really curious but didn't know whether his wounds meant he was kinda dangerous to be around or what. She secretly wanted to go ask if he was okay though. |D
Anyway.. probably about time I tracked this. /secretly stalks
Eventually came back to pc and saw Darcy sitting nearby. If this is his spot, I hope he don't mind her presence xD. She is happy for the company though.
Dinah could never handle mushrooms. She's gonna make out with that tree for a while and probably toss chunks. "You're a bad influence, pal." Putting the blame on Darcy for her own over consumption mishap. The fog and bats only intensifying her anxiety.
