"...thoughts here...."

Yes, I guess I can say I'm gone now. It's been 4 months and I've looked at this site maybe twice. I have absolutely no desire to go into forest anymore. Herla and my other characters are alive and well, though they don't live here anymore. I'm as happy with them now as I've ever been and feel much more satisfied with my creations since removing them from this place. I used to think that would be hard or impossible and if I left, I'd lose them. I laugh now at that, the best way out is through as they say, and then you wonder what all the fuss was about in the first place.
Health challenges continue, and part of that is minimized computer time since it aggravates my conditions to sit and type and look at screens. After a decade dedicated to digital art, I pretty much exclusively do traditional art now. Loving my Copic markers. It has really helped me to find alternative creative outlets like the Ball Jointed Doll Hobby. Starting to sculpt and sew too.
Please don't leave messages here, I'll be unlikely to see them. If you wish to contact me use the email below.
Please do not ask for any of my pictos.

Having been within the
With his thirst quenched, he would make his way up and stand beside Darcy for a few moments. Tension high as he shifted there, out in the open... when that scent caught his attention again that large skull would turn and a hiss emitted from those jaws. Seeing the tiny black doe, that close made what remained of his fur bristle and with a shake of his head and a roar sent in her direction he would leave Darcy's side to find a more solid place to stay. Heading to the ruins where he climbed onto the large slab rock to lay.
Sleeping for a bit to recover more, he would wake to scenting the doe nearby and snarled. After much deliberating with himself, he would walk down the slab and make his way in the direction that the scent was coming from... lowering that head down when he got close and growling out softly "You follow me doe... why? Do you want to finish what you started? To kill me once and for all... is that it?
"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
The doe had actually been
At his confrontation though something shot through her, she paused, turning to face him, her whole demeanor shifting from a frightened doe to something else entirely. Her feathers falling flat and her lip curling up in the beginnings of a snarl. Her scarlet eyes flashed with something outside herself, something dark and barely controlled as they set upon the monster with a cold cruelty. “Stay away from me,” she hissed, “Or I shall do just that.” power coursed unbidden through her and she made no attempt to rein it in, as it coiled like a snake ready to strike just below the surface.
A thick snort came out of the
One massive clawed foot slamming down on the ground as he roared out... jerking his head upwards before calming again, a low hiss of a chuckle coming from him "A blackened heart... sold to the darkness... don't think you'll ever be able to escape it. Once you go into the darkness you never get away from it doe. He hissed, snorting as that head was held upwards more... he wasn't going to run.
Another chuckle came though "You were the one to come over when you were not wanted... came over when I was going over... and then you seemed to be following about behind me. If you weren't, then my mistake..." He growled "If you do just that then you will be the third... the third to kill me... but instead of myself dieing at a will it will be by the hooves of something I used to hold cherished feelings for... how foolish I was to ever think that the third time would be that lucky charm."
"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
The black coiled serpent
No. Don’t do this. it came from within, not a separate thing but HER. Trying to fight the coiled serpent back. This is not worth it. Remember what is important. A glassy pool spread out within her mind, its surface calm and unfettered. For a moment she was not standing there in the birch anymore but with this pool before her. One delicate blue hoof reached forward…and touched it.
It happened quickly. One second she was poised to unleash hell, the roaring of her own pulse sounding deafening in her ears. The next instant, it was silenced. Pushed down. She slumped into herself, her eyes focusing and unfocusing rapidly. But she remained standing.
The black doe raised her head again then, her scarlet eyes once again setting on the blue beast, with a cold detachment. Calm. Unending calm washed through her. Standing here in the birch now, she could still feel the cool water lapping at her hoof.
“No…I will not kill you monster, “ she said, her voice sounding removed to her own ears. “You are not important enough for that. You presume much. I will never be yours, not in life or in death. We are done here,” she said, as she turned and walked away, not a glance thrown over her shoulder.
A thick and heavy snort came
"If I'm a monster, then you are no different now... cruel and a bitch. It's amazing I was ever even friends with such a heartless doe. I bet I was fun to watch, fun for you to play with the strings... and pull me along like some loyal dog begging for a treat. I bet Darcy was the same... everyone was likely the same... and I hope that when you find love you choke on it... because you don't deserve such a thing..." Another snort, he gave a glance back before making his way slowly down the hill. Heading to go and find a more secluded spot... away from everyone in the forest.
"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
The monster spat after her,

How long had it been since he
Walking upwards he would come around and glanced down seeing the small black doe sitting in her protective area... hidden under the lily in the water. There was a bitter taste in his mouth but the old giant still cared for her despite that taste. And if she had taken note... he had changed some since she had last seen him. Nightmare was slowly changing again, though not by much this time... his fur was a far darker sheen of midnight blue... and it was slowly starting to show signs of bones... the spine forming down the back of his necks fur and then the ribs more prominent at his sides, the markings themselves were faint... but if one looked hard enough they would see them and to make it all the worse for him... that fur was growing longer to accommodate for the winter to come, so he looked far shaggier than normal. At the top of his head, starting up just before those elaborate pronged horns of his were a couple of red spikes... the formation for antlers to come in.
His attention returned down and with a heavy sigh he watched her carefully before speaking "You'll catch a death of cold if you stay down in that water for too long..." The giant muttered out but watched as she quickly got out from the water on the other side of the creek. His eyes followed that movement and he moved along before jumping over to the other side where he watched and Herla made her way to hide behind the nearest large tree. Shaking his head and lowering it down, body being moved to show a far less than threatening stance "Herla... come here... come on now..." His voice was just as gruff as always but he was trying... at least, to show some sort of gentleness in that tone, he would claw at the ground in a means of trying to beckon her over "Come on now... please..."

Graveyard:
The black doe had been startled awake by the call of the blue beast in the forest. She’d been resting by the monarch stag when she’d heard it and grew instantly tensed. After a few unintentional sightings of the beast whilst moving about the forest, the doe had retreated in fear alone to her hiding spot under the lily, feeling at least somewhat protected obscured from sight submerged beneath the floating plants. Here she remained, pensive and afraid.
But he found her. His voice reached her from the bank of the river. Close. Too frightened to hear any of the gentleness that was in his tone, the little black doe launched from the floating plants to flee to the opposite shore of the river, stumbling and scurrying in fright to hide behind a large tree. There she sat huddled against the rough bark, heart racing. She had no defense. Not anymore. She hadn’t touched magic since that night she’d tried to kill the beast. It was gone. Bound. Banished. She hadn’t so much as summoned a bunny. If he knew…if he found out…that she could do nothing to stop him….would he kill her?
She clenched her eyes shut. He had moved closer, crossed the river. Coaxing her out, sounding almost…kind? Her eyes opened surprised and she carefully peaked around the tree, ruby eyes wide with fear. He was RIGHT there. Huge. Looming far too close, she could see the glowing eyes within the dark pits of his skull. Her eyes locked with those of the beast, and in that moment, he would be able to see that nothing remained in her eyes now but the doe. Nothing else. Tearing her eyes away she ducked back behind the tree. If he knew…
“You shouldn’t come near me,” she said, trying to sound menacing but unable to keep the fear from her voice. She swallowed. “Please…don’t…”
((Sorry for being so brain dead last night. I’d been up for nearly 24 hours, I was quite melted))

She took a forward glance to The Pond. She did see deer there... But she saw a startling situation. A small black doe (Not much bigger than herself) was seemingly fleeing from a strange being Azura never saw before. She watched what was going on. The doe got a hiding place under a lotus leaf. And the creature seemed clueless for a while. Azura turned her head back to The Idol, thinking it was all.
But not at all. Soon, she saw the doe quickly dash by, behind a tree to hide. She looked the creature near the black doe. But Azura had enough of this game. That doe seemed familiar... She's maybe encountered her few times in The Forest. Maybe. Maybe it's a friend of her friends? No matter, she had enough. She dashed away from the bridge, taking a great leap in front of the tree the black ruby-eyed doe had hid behind of. She was just between the creature and the doe. She looked back, seeing the familiar face of the doe. "Herla...?" her mind swept a thought, but she turned her head back to the creature with an aggressive face. Her eyes were full of anger, as she couldn't see someone was being harmed. She tried to hold back the creature, and waited with a fight-ready pose and an angry look, eyes gleaming sharply.

The giant watched carefully and his tail swayed behind him in a calm manner, he knew Herla... she knew him. And she likely knew that if he wanted to get at her at all, he could have and likely would have done so. What tree has gotten away unscathed by him when he was keen and intent on things? The blue beast had torn through many trees, even took big chunks out of the largest with a single bite. If the beast had come to her as a monster, with all intentions set to kill something would have happened and he would not have been responding or acting in this way.
Again, he would claw away at the ground and give a bit of a light roar to try and coax her out... it wasn't the same as though monstrous ones he let out when showing any signs of aggression or anger. It held this rather... gentle and less threatening side to it. Raising his head however when he heard her words he turned his attention to a side and those orbs inside displayed some emotion... hard to see but it was there, guilt... sorrow... pain and hurt. He shouldn't come near her yes, his father passed those words that she had left him with onto him... but what son? What child... obeyed their parents all the time? Or heeded their words for that matter.
About to say more, the giant was interrupted by that flash of blue for a moment and there was a thick growl to come from him... in his eyes he had almost seen Catrin. But he had killed the spirit but ten days ago... how could she be around and running in the forest? Once he caught a better look of the small doe that had rushed in to Herla's aid he let out a sound that calmed his form, that fur having been bristling on end slightly. This new doe knew Herla? He wouldn't question if she did or didn't but it was when that little blue doe showed that anger and aggression towards him that he tilted his head in confusion.
Usually one look at him and most were sent fleeing in terror... but this little spitfire turned and lowered that head of hers... displayed aggression towards him. Attempting to ward him away from Herla and protect the black doe who was hidden away. A snort came out of Nightmare, and he took a step back growling for a moment but that was it. Any other time, he would have likely lunged forward and attacked but with Herla being there and her closeness... he didn't. He didn't want to scare her off and give her more reason to fear him if that were at all possible. Instead he took it all in stride, the little blue doe confusing him all the while before he glanced back to Herla then to this new doe... and back again "You know this doe Herla?" The beast questioned softly, staying where he was.
"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
Herla was very confused by
She didn’t see the blue doe jump in front of Nightmare, but she heard her speak and Night’s query. Her eyes widened in anxiety. “Foolish child,” she hissed. No she did not know her well, only a few brief meetings, but Herla did not want her putting herself in danger for her benefit. No little doe, herself included could stop him. “Run away from here,” she told her, and please don’t make me come out there to save you. she thought with a shudder.
She shook her head, hunkering into the tree, knowing that if he charged it would provide little safety. Only her fleetness would save her then. “What do you want from me…” she nearly whimpered, “I have done my best to stay out of your way…”

"You have... but you came bumbling over when myself and Darcy were greeting one another." There was a pause and the beast shook his head before lifting it up "Do you know how hard it was for me to just leave him like that? My father brought me your words... how am I supposed to... 'stay away' if you so blindly come running over?" His tone held nothing to it, not an ounce of emotion as he talked... it was blank... just a source of words flowing from those jaws.
"You confuse me Herla..." He admitted turning his attention and glancing around the tree to look at her in the eyes "You wounded me, nearly killed me... you wanted to send me to hell and back and now... you're just as I remember you back then before all of that. Even though you did those things to me, even though I still have such a bitter taste in my mouth from it all there is a part deep down in the bowels of this body that still cares about you." Nightmare shook his head before drawing away and making his way back towards the creek lowering his head down to stare into the flowing water, dipping his head back and raising one of those hind legs up to scratch away at those red growing prongs that would slowly grow into antlers... the itched, they irritated him... and they were going to be annoying.

Graveyard:
The doe stiffened when he moved closer to her tree, her eyes remained trained on him, he moved languidly and without threat, but she watched every movement warily, her muscles tensed and ready to flee if his demeanor should change. She couldn’t help a flinch when he turned to look at her, his eyes meeting hers.
But at his words, she forgot her fear for a brief moment and was filled with a flash of…anger. She closed her eyes and let it settle before she spoke. “You make it sound like you were not the one who came “hunting” us dressed in blood.” she said softly remembering that night, “I don’t need your forgiveness Night…I did what I had to do.” a note of stoic determination entered her voice. Standing, she shook herself and stood tall. “And I don’t need you to care about me either. You lost that right…when you tried to kill me. To kill Darcy. Everyone seems to have such short term memories and the inability to remember what happened. Well I don’t. I recall with perfect clarity. I won’t ever forget.” Nor would she forget what she almost lost. Her anger flared again, but that’s all it was. Anger. Nothing deeper behind it threatening to overwhelm her and strike out. ”I gave you a precious thing…my trust. You shall never have it again.”
A Thick snort came out of the
Sighing out the blue giant turned his attention away as he grimaced, yes he would never gain that trust again but he at the very least wanted to lay with Darcy and not have the other torn between himself and Herla "I recall that day very well myself, but again... had you never thrown yourself into the fires of my wrath you would never have gotten yourself hurt. You would have never fallen into the darkness of what you did to me Herla, you would have been fine... Darcy would have been fine." Shaking his head Nightmare just turned around and moved off once again, would she believe anything he was saying? Likely not... but he knew himself better than anyone else in this forest. He was quiet about his nature, quiet about his ways but he knew deep down what happened had happened and knew it wouldn't be forgotten or forgiven.
"Even in my state then... even in my haze... violence only takes part for so long. That wrath would have turned to guilt, and then sorrow. But what would you care..." Lowering his gaze again there was that hint of... sorrow in his voice, it was clear he was attempting to hide away all his emotions from her "You're like all the rest... I'm nothing more than a monster now... I just didn't want Darcy to have to be torn between us..." It was almost a silent whisper, but the giant soon brought himself back up and lunged over to the other side of the creek... he would leave her to whatever it is she wanted to do... if she followed or stayed, he didn't care now.
"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
The doe took a few hasty
Despite her anger, she still had enough fear to startle when he turned around and jumped across the river, the sharp movement making her flinch despite herself. She shrunk back behind the tree, eyes glued to his movements. “Just leave me alone…”
Oh man double post wtf D|
"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
Her words made him stop and
Growling out he spun himself around the giant roaring out once before jerking that head up into the air... holding it high up as several tendrils of thick black smoke came from those jaws "Yes! You should have known better you foolish woman! If you weren't so BLIND at that time to see my focus was purely on Darcy, but then you Stepped in... YOU showed aggression to ME first! Was I ever interested in you during my blood hazed ways? No..." He growled deeply, jaws visibly shaking from his anger "Pit all the blame you want on me Herla, damn me to the deepest depths of hell and back for all I care... but look back and think about it... and maybe you'll see things differently." A heavy snort came out of his as more smoke bellowed upwards towards the blue sky, one front leg clawing at the ground.
"Darcy can do as he likes but do you think he likes having to choose between staying with you or coming to see me? Having to choose between two things that he considers friends?" The beast just shook his head, rumbling low in his chest as he took a step back. Something was different about him, anger had vanished and was replaced again with a pain and sorrowed heart... black had started weeping down from those glowing red sockets of his and he quickly shook his head and backed up more "Three times I've loved... two times I've died... somehow in the depths of my mind I wished you had killed me then... wiped me off the face of this little forest never to be seen again. But in the end you didn't, and though I wanted to die then and there... to give up on ever considering living again I didn't. Because I didn't want to leave Darcy, I didn't want to leave the only one who stood by my side even after all that I had done. I don't know why he forgave me, I don't know why he didn't want to wretch out my heart with his antlers and destroy me... but he didn't." Another heavy breath before the giant just fell down and crumbled into a heap where he was shaking his head and shuddering for a moment... he was miserable... both visually and mentally. And he so badly wanted to move... but at the same time he didn't "I doubt you would ever accept any apology from me..."

Azura was quietly watching the blue giant and small black doe argue. When she saw the giant rose to anger again, she boldly jumped again in front of him, showing no sign of fear. She would die just as she stood there. Just to protect that black doe. Azura didn't even think what she's doing. Just the want to protect. Her gold eyes were gleaming of anger again, standing like a wall, like the most hardest wall ever. Because if Azura wanted something, she will do anything. The doe scratched the ground for a small while, feeling like she could threaten the giant to stay back from Herla.
Azura's ears were lowered in anger and eyes constantly watching the beast's eyes.

Graveyard: The monster spun
The monster spun about. He growled. Smoke billowed from his skull. The doe blanched, her legs turning to jelly, no longer supporting her, she fell into herself, ears and feathers folded flat against her neck. Fear flooded the tiny female faced with the angered beast, memories of his attack filling her vision. His words hardly registered at that point as terror washed over her and she stared wide eyed into his angered face. “I… I…I… couldn’t just stand by and let you hurt him,” she stuttered out. Run, she thought, You should run now…
When he fell back, crumpling to the ground, the doe fell as well, sliding along the tree to lay in a heap, breathing hard in relief that for the moment he wasn’t going to charge. She watched him carefully, heart racing. He was miserable that was clear, but he was also unpredictable. She couldn’t know when he might lash out…
Finally after a long silence she found the strength to speak again after absorbing his words. “It’s not my fault you know. That I didn’t love you. I gave you my trust and my friendship…you said you would never harm me…but you did.”
Big Bunny: We hope we will see them again! Any thoughts on making it into a character? Herla loves mini fawns. She’ll adopt them…even if they already have mommies. XD

A low sound came out of him... and the giant would shift to watch her... saw her crumpling down... listened to her before he slowly pushed himself back up to those legs of his and he turned around "It sounds like such a familiar story doesn't it... I recall someone else who was also unpredictable and destructive as well that you knew..." He muttered out shaking that head as he watched the tiny blue doe, amused really by her bold protective nature "I didn't care that you didn't love me in return Herla, so long as I knew that you knew... others that I shared such an emotion with never knew of it. I was never given a chance to say it... to tell them... before they died."
Nightmare lowered his gaze down for a moment... and he inwardly grimaced slightly, his mind... wandering a bit "If you ever have it in your heart to even consider forgiving me you'll find me where I usually am... but for now, I'll go speak with Aeron..." The giant muttered before glancing back, giving a bow of his head to the tiny doe as well as the black one crumpled up by the tree before he started to walk off.

No! The doe shook herself hard, her glazed eyes refocusing on the visage of the blue beast once more. No. Alive. She was alive. In the forest. With the very real and solid threat of a blue monster staring down at her. She stared back. Mute. Still shivering. “Night…?” her voice sounded small even to her. Distant.
She blinked, pulling her eyes away from his retreating form, curling into herself. “In the end we can only be judged by the choices we make, by our actions. Words have little meaning.” she said softly.
