Translations - Heavy WIP | The Endless Forest

Hello! The purpose of this page is to help understand the more advanced body language my deer and I use.
It will not list the more basic emotes unless I use them for not so basic reasons.
Note, all of my characters will use even the most extreme body languages. A head movement can be deliberate too!

All - Moves generally used by all my deer

Exposing side to another deer
This one varies: If my deer is standing very close to your deer then it is likely to be a submissive act as my deer is making itself vulnerable in your presence. They will likely be looking at you, however if they are looking to your side or infront of them this means his/her head is lowered.
On the other hand, if there is significant distance between our deer, it is displaying readiness to flee. Wary, alert. They might not want to turn their back on you. My deer in such cases are very likely to be watching you intently with the occasional glance elsewhere.

Greetings
There's the typical portrayal through bowing. However in certain situations there may be actions during and around the basic command that say more. If my deer cuts the bow short then it may not have full respect for some reason or another, but enough to return a polite gesture with uncertaincy.

Uncertaincy
Portrayed by constant uneasy steps. By not standing still. Frequently taking short steps backwards and sometimes turning.

Flirting
As portrayed by the known taunting during nuzzling. There will also be a lot of moving around, it is likely games of buttnuzzle tag will ensue.

Grooming
Most times, when my deer offers grooming, he will stand facing the side of your deer. This could be anywhere between the side of the neck, the middle and the side of the rear. My deer will move its head back and forth. Sometimes accompanied with a nod and shaking of the head. Usually at the same time.
If my deer stands beside your deer, facing the opposite direction with its head over your deer, this means it's inviting for a mutual grooming session. The head movements are more accurate to portral, but the nod+shake head will sometimes be used.

Nose rubbing
Sniff+shake head is when my deer rubs its nose against your deer, preferably nose to nose.

Face licking
This action is solely used for comedy purpose. My deer will stand infront of your deer and basically nod+shake head.

Friendly invitation to spar
Paw ground, lower antlers+head tilt. My deer will not stand too close when inviting, so that it reduces the chance of accidental injury.
If this invitation is done over a patch of purple flowers, this means my deer is inviting for a flower spar, where aggressive emotes are combined frequently with the Picking up flowers action. The first one to pick up flowers looses.

The Red - Moves used specifically by The Red

Marking
Although the Red owns no part of the forest, he will often leave behind his mark as a way to say he was there. Rubbing against trees is often scent marking. He can also be witnessed nuzzling trees, another form of scent marking.
Rarely, he'll leave a long term mark by rubbing his antlers and scraping bark off trees. This however isn't always just scent marking, he could also be rubbing velvet off his antlers depending on the time of year.

Parasitic
Being feral and realistic, the Red is subject to parasites. He has fleas all year round and will sometimes pick up ticks.
Fleas aren't usually a bother unless their population is greater than usual. In such case he will be rubbing against trees followed by shaking his head (listen+listen). This is how he expresses irritation and discomfort.
Parasites don't necessarily have to be contageous.
