Aleit's Unspoken Voice
August 29, 2010 - 11:26pm — arrowdoe
Greetings
- A respectful greeting. Usually only done to admired stags or does.
- An uncertain or even submissive greeting. Usually followed by looking away.
- An overly polite gesture done only to friends.
Affection
- Meaning varies, though it's usually only done to fawns or close friends.
- Flirting. May quickly turn and run away to entice a game of nuzzle-tag. May also be encouragement for sparring or an activity.
- Worry or confusion for a friend. "Are you ok?" or "Is everything all right?"
- Showing fondness for the receiving deer. May speak to them or remain silent, it all depends on how he is feeling.
Dominance & Submission
- Showing dominance over said deer. Will only be an umbrella during rain or snow.
- Act of wary submission. A show of non-threatening behavior when dealing with timid deer
- Roughly translates to 'I'm in charge.' or a sign of dominance to a group nearby.
Fall Season & Rut
Aleit is not intentionally lustful. This time of the year is all instincts.
- Sizing the stag up. If Aleit thinks he'll win, he will wait for the intruder to make the first move. If not, he will taunt.
- An instinctive action of protection. Trying to 'snake' the doe(s) away from a rival stag or move her/them away from the current area if too many stags are present there.
- Taking interest in her- always followed by a nuzzle or two. If he likes her, he will attempt to lead her away to his 'territory.'
- Attempting to claim the doe as his own. May or may not be done immediately after leading the doe away.
