It's...hard to say whether or not I feel better...sleep makes certain things better, but it only took a stray thought before I didn't feel good again...
I feel like I'm losing someone close to me...I...finally got the chance to play with someone I've been meaning to play with last night, but...a close friend of mine doesn't entirely approve of him. I...know I made him upset, and...I'm scared I may have lost him. I...don't know what to do anymore. I'm scared to talk to him...
She curls up on the ground, tears threatening. But she's not fully ready to cry yet.
He swallows hard, noticing tears welling in her eyes. Dag always found it difficult to comfort those on the brink of tears; perhaps he felt awkward in not really knowing what to say. "Hm... your friend will eventually need to try and talk to you, too. No-one can control who you choose to see in the forest one day to the next; no-one has that right but you."
There wasn't very much he could deduce from her description. "Try and talk to him, perhaps find a reason for his feelings about playing with this... other. Something can only be done if you know the reason why."
He didn't know if that was enough, but instead of saying any more he sat down and curled himself around her, mimicking... well, a huge blue wall really in the hopes it would make her feel better.
Angrily, she rips her helm off, pretty hair flanking her cheeks, a part of it in between her eyes. It was hard to cry with the helm on, the tears blinding her.
She snuggles close to the stag, shaking uncontrollably.
Anger. Despair. Sadness. Hate.
All of these emotions started crashing into her all at once. Her heart was an engine overheating, but the last thing she wanted to explode.
She tries to open her mouth, to speak calmly, but she finds herself on the verge of screaming every obscenity in the world.
She bites down on her front leg hard, trickles of blood staining her pure white fur.
She decides to wait a bit before speaking.
When she finally does speak, her voice is ragged, tears crawling into her mouth, the bitter taste making it all the worse.
I don't understand it at all...he can play with that deer all he wants. He lets that deer flirt with him, even groom him. I was never allowed to do that, yet he claims he felt the closest to me out of everyone!
She hardly ever liked to vent to this extent, but her words are now flowing, and she can't stop them.
Yet I do so much as simply leap around with this deer, and he gets upset; even so much as to shove his tines in my face when I try to apologize. I don't understand it at all...I don't understand....I-
I hate him.
She wanted to say that, but somewhere in her heart, she knew it was not true.
So she opts to bite her tongue.
I loved him. Not in that "Oh my god, he's my mate," type love. The kind of love shared between close friends. For him to...
She hesitates, wondering if the stag's ears are about ready to fall off from her voice.
Dag pinned his ears back, not exactly used to seeing so much upset come from one individual. In fact, he had to look away from her in order to compose himself and not just... hug her tighter until the tears stopped.
He cleared his throat loudly to distract himself before speaking. "It... Sounds to me like this friend of yours is being a hypocrite. But... I am worried whether this other deer you're seeking the company of is wise to this."
He finally looked at her after she'd calmed down, "And if so, if their interaction with you as the subject would incite a fight."
Perhaps he was jumping to conclusions too quickly. But by the sounds of things, this friend had a temper if he got so angry over something so minuscule.
He didn't like the thought of Lacie being punished by foolish insecurities.
"Rrn."
It wasn't a growl, but the noise wasn't to be dismissed as a grumble either. Shifting his weight a little, he bowed his head over Lacie's body until there was a dull thud, followed by the distinct sound of something sliding through earth. His long front tines were awkward, but always came in handy as a head support when his head was positioned correctly.
But also... it looked as if Lacie was behind a wall, all tines anchored and pointing outwards at the world. Dag didn't want her being hurt any more than she already was, and perhaps this was a wordless way of telling her that.
He...is one; somehow...I think this other deer is aware of what's going on...
She pins her ears back, wondering if she was being used. She always told herself she would never allow that, but now she was beginning to wonder...
I never...wanted to be used...
She's jumped out of her thoughts by the dull thud, looking to realize that the stag's tines were pointing outward in front of her. A wall, a barrier, guarding her from the outside.
Tears find their way out of her eyes, and she gently bumps her head against the "wall," a gesture of affection and gratitude. But a part of her can't help but think she's become too much of a burden.
