The Diary of Seed, 11-23-09 (short and pictureless)

Seed's picture

A stranger sharpened his antlers on bark, raging against the tree. A couple nuzzled one another. A deer sat among the ruins in perfect, contemplative silence. And I wandered, looking for someone solitary and willing to aid me in the recovery of my pelt. I had little luck, though.

I walked for a while with a nice, but not-useful fawn (though I perhaps should have indicated my wishes, but...) and down at the lake, I ran with one of the gods. It's refreshing to see them about at times, even though I am both puzzled and suspicious a little -- the gods are very good at cloning themselves, it appears. I don't understand it, though I like to imagine. It was a nice run around the lake shore, with the water splashing beneath our hooves and the wind in our stripped-clean fur. He departed (in that form), and I at last spotted a familiar and largely-unoccupied pictogram, and knew it to be Virgil's. I ran to meet him, and after some intense and puzzling sniffing on his part (I do not know my own smell; it's an amazing mystery of the self. I can see my eyes and touch my flesh, hear the slide of my own voice, but I cannot smell my own scent.), we began running around the forest and hills. I love running. As we came to a stop, I at last directed him to my request for a new pelt, since him volunteering such did not seem forthcoming. It was not a long work today, which came as a relief. We had ended up at the ruins, where we began to play... Until I noticed a descending figure standing behind a wall.

I knew him, though only vaguely: his name was Kinsha. I greeted him, since he did have my acquaintance, and he didn't seem to notice. I wondered if he didn't see me, or if he didn't care... I hoped for the former, and decided I would make myself be seen. I know I am no ninja, and my skills at sneaking from behind him were horrible -- but it was a fun amusement, humming some action-filled song in the back of my head. I snuck behind a handy gravestone and leapt out at him. Then I greeted him again, and, even if I hadn't surprised him, he at least responded. I returned to playing with Virgil, hoping he would join. He did not, and after a while, Virgil noticed this, too. We gestured for him to join us -- we asked him why he did not -- he stood aloof and silent, like a dark moon.

After a while, he came and stood on the air beside a wall. Virgil was amazed, and frightened, so I stood up and joined him. It took a bit of convincing, but we managed to get Virgil to stand on air. And we hanged there, dancing on a trick of the air. We were later joined by a little rabbit: they seem to be a magic peculiar to deer: I have seen no rabbits that were truly rabbits, only the masquerade of rabbits. (I write that, and ponder for a moment if I am like one of those deer-in-rabbit's-shapes, but the thought is left unpursued for now.) The rabbit left, and we danced until Virgil, too, made his departure. Kinsha and I stood there for a while, a little awkwardly: I don't know him very well, so I don't know how to please him. But it was better than wandering alone, for we are at least a little acquainted. I left not long after, since I had little time for wakefulness today.

It is good to be back.

LOL everyone needs their own theme song! I wonder what Seed's is? Sticking out tongue
Seed's picture

Seed's themesong is probably

Seed's themesong is probably "River of Dreams" by Billy Joel. Or "Message in a Bottle" by Sting. He was probably humming something much, much more suited to action. Seed is generally not a deer of action.

Kinsha saw Seed the whole

Kinsha saw Seed the whole time actually (might've missed that first bow thanks to a bad camera angle though). He's too observant at times. |D But he's also socially awkward, which is shown by him being shy or reluctant to join in the fun. This usually leads to him doing what he knows for fun; hence the "air-standing" beside the wall - a favorite resting spot of his, that requires much less effort than the long run it takes to sit atop the Ruins. That spot's kind of a comfort zone for him, since it lets him be higher up.
So it's not that he didn't want to join the fun; it's that he's unsure how to a lot of the time.

Oh, and does Seed not know Kinsha is Scape's cousin? 8o

Poor Kinsha..*pat, pat* I

Poor Kinsha..*pat, pat*

I think not, since I recall there being a time when that wasn't true, and Seed met him then. Unless I'm mistaken; then it must have slipped his mind.

That was a wonderful piece, I really enjoyed reading this one. I must say I like shorter pieces better than longer ones. Short attention span I guess. XD

To pray is to believe, to believe is to purify one's soul

I really need to kick Queze into the forest soon so he can meet up with his buddy!

Aww, thanks. I like the

Aww, thanks. I like the shorter ones, too, as they are easier to write.

Also, @ Terabetha specifically: Wow, Queze thinks of Seed as his buddy? That's mighty nice. I'm not exactly clear on where Queze is on Seed's internal priority list, but I'm pretty sure he's on there. So we'd like it if you did that ^^

They've actually always been

They've actually always been cousins (by blood); they just didn't know each other for awhile. =] Most of my deer are related somehow.
