I really wish we could chat in the Forest, i just want to say hi sometimes, Plus, i want to communicate with friends, because if you want someone to follow you or something you can't say anything. Hopefully in the next version of it, you can chat
The creators have stated they never want to have chatting systems or 'words' in the forest -- deer can't talk, after all, and they feel it would ruin the magic of the game. I personally like having no words, though I do wish there was a way to see usernames once you've sniffed a deer, or something like that. Some pictos look very alike. Besides, you can always say hi on here. c:
There will never be a chat option in this game. It's part of the ...oh what's a good word for this? ...charm? I don't know. Don't worry, you will learn to talk to others in the game through body language. Many people have their own little language of signs they perform for actions such as to follow them, sparring, or to help them get a spell. The whole reason this community site was added [I believe] was for players to be able to communicate outside the game and not plug up the actual support forums.
Hmm, i guess that may be a good idea, because of rude people, but you can have safety systems. I just feel like we should be able to communicate. But having no talking is kinda fun in a WAY, it's like sign language
When i first joined i had the same feelings but you'll get use to it. Its nice not having to worry about people chewing you out in chat & even if there was some type of filter theres ways of getting past it. Id much rather take a hoof to the head than have to deal with the drama involved in chat games. It is confusing at times but i think they'd consider adding more actions way before they'd ever consider making a chat.
Chat won't be an option, probably neither will female deer. The game won't really ever change much, aside from a new generation of pictograms or a new area in the forest, which you shouldn't hold your breath for any time soon, because Aureia and Michael are very busy and this game is not their top priority due to the fact that they have other games that actually give them money they need to worry about.
This place, the Community, is the place to chat. In-game it is more fun not to use words, but to try and interpret the other player's body-language. That is the extent of in-forest chat. You'll learn other players' styles over time, and it will be just as if you are chatting with them through real words.
So have fun in our peaceful forest. Trust me, you'll get to love this game like we all have, without these options you think would improve it.
One of the reason ( among others) why I play TEF is because there's no chat box.
Whenever I'm on FH I turn it off too.
It just ruins the whole game experience for me, like a reminder that I'm just playing in a virtual universe with poeple on the internet, which is true, but just like when I read a good book, I want to be able to sink into it and momentaraly let my mind wander.
A chat box, in my perspective, would be the same as having author notes everywhere in one of these fantasy books I'm fond of, like talking with a friend and trying to watch a Tim Burton's at the same time, it pulls you back to reality, you can't immerse yourself completly, and the magic is gone ;_;.
I'm going to say the same to you as I said to the other new person that recently wished for a chat box in the game;
Enjoy the game as it is, soon you will be glad there is no chat.
Here's the response I gave to the other person who wanted a chat feature on TEF...
This game is really defined for being able to interact without having to chat. How many other games do you know where you can play and have fun with anyone even if you don't speak the same language as them? FeralHearts certainly isn't like that because the Russian-speaking players only interact with each other, and the English-speaking players only interact with each other, and so on.
Just play this game for a while, and you'll learn to love using actions to interact with others.
Haha. No, they haven't; many of us come here in large part because we enjoy the lack of a chat feature in-game. It's different, relaxing, and fun. It requires one to learn to observe and to be patient, as well as to have enough imagination and creativity to use what has been provided to communicate. After a while, it becomes very intuitive and you'll learn to communicate without thinking about it too much - just like you do with text.
The creators, M&A, gave us the community site for words. The Forest is a place to escape them.
On the contrary; actions can speak volumes when given the context of a situation and interaction with others' motions.
For example - the bow, nod, and point actions. Alone they don't mean much - "hello," "yes," "look/come/this thing/etc."
But combine them when a new deer approaches and you get something more like "Hello! Won't you please join me and keep me company?"
And again, there's always TEFc if you have something to say with words.
I totally agree with the others. See, I chat in FH and IT, but I always turn off the General and such... But chat is always ruined. You always see spammers, and guys who act like: "Yo man! Lolz, u have a gay look in ur face lulzzzz" and guys who are really mean. You don't see all this 'dirt and mud' in TEF. It's a relaxing place, away from all the real world, talking rubbish, spamming, trolling, being mean and whatsoever. TEF is a friendly place, and no bad guys will come here, because you can't chat. The Community is a place for the talk, but we don't talk rubbish either, because there's nothing rubbish to talk to. And exploring body language is fun! You can combine actions, make them something new and special, unique for only your deer! Like bow+rear can mean something you know, although you can post this language's meanings in here. And yes, chat won't never come in this game. When Auriea and Harvey say so, they say so. I haven't been here for a year, but about for 5 months, and I say this game is so awesome I just couldn't resist going mad when this game is gone, somehow.

Ahem, but yeah. What he said about you being used to the lack of chat and such. If you've been here for a year like me, you shouldn't be saying this kinda thing.
x_x Guys.
Just because someone says something about wanting chat in the forest doesn't mean they're doing it to get under your skin, or to purposely troll, or whatever. It's the norm for games like this, after all. Perhaps now that they're aware that the game isn't for chatting, we can drop the topic?

"LOOKIN 4 A MATE PLZZ!!!"
"OMFG UR DEER SUX GO AWAY B4 I ATTACK U!!"
"LOL U USE THE PEACOCK PELT THAT MEANS UR GAY!!"
And so on.
These are the reasons I never wish a chat to be implemented.
