It had never felt right. It was out of place. It didn't belong yet there it was, breathing. She could hear it breathing, the air rushing in her ears. The chill that scratched down her spine. Black hackles raised in fear with azure eyes staring ahead.
Get out.
Some beings had come here from previous lives, from other worlds. Some came with powers to heal, other to create pain. But all belonged in a way. Chosen and plucked from their worlds to join the Forest. But this didn't belong. It was never invited. It was the opposite. It did not care. It could not care. It had no right to exist at all. It shouldn't be alive and breathing.
Get out.
Get out.
GET OUT.
...It is not within your power to command.
Small hooves dug in deep, canary colored limbs trembling. Such a weight, so heavy on her shoulders. Sharp hooves sank into the ground as if the body were too heavy suddenly, an invisible pressure applied on her body. Muscles ached as if she had been running for days straight, straining and knotting up. Ribs felt like they were slowly being crushed inward, lungs struggling to breath and bring in more air. Heat burned along her throat, tiny claws slicing through the thin flesh inside as if the very air had turned to fire as she breathed it in. The whites of her eyes shown in pure terror, letting out a cry of pain. It rang in her ears and mind, a terrible sound of one in the clutches of death. It echoes through the trees and ruffled the feathers of birds that had now gone silent. But all that escaped past those falling lips was the sound of an exhale as she fell, back legs suddenly numb and unable to carry themselves. Front pillars sank further into the ground, the earth loose and full of air. Breaking apart with each steps she tried to take. She looked rabid, the once calm and quiet doe now dragging the dead weight of back legs and convulsing in pain. There wasn't anything like it, this burning, the raw fear born inside that demanded to be set free and was clawing its way out from inside her mind and body. Fragile things often break under the pressure, ribs suddenly snapping and crushing organs and setting the blood free inside to flow and drown from within. Collapsing to the side the earth did nothing to cushion the fall of the doe, body laid out and seemingly already death with the lack of movement or breath of life. Only her eyes seemed alive still, glowing bright and staring true ahead into nothing.
You....
..can't....have..
..him.
He belonged. He was suppose to be there. His place was here, with them. With the others! With her when the moments came and crossed their paths! He was Their child, a prized child. One of greatness and such tenderness and unconditional love. There could be no other to take his place, nor should the place ever become empty. There was no Forest without him! The lights already had dimmed with the lose of others. A pale face streaked with tears of red, a coat of pure silver with a crown of ivory. A head of violet that showed off the starry pelt that now stood in the sky. A body that burned with everlasting fire and eyes so hollow you wondered if there was ever a tender gaze that came from him. So many others already lost and somehow forgotten along the way, missing and yet to be found. Wanderers that has strayed from the safety of the Forest. Yet he needed to stay. She needed him here, she wanted to show him some light, give some relief to the pain he already suffered. He was loved here. He was wanted and cherished. He could be happy here.
...So sorry little masked bird. I simply must take him.
No..no....NO NO! NO!
It tore into her, slicing through fur and flesh, spilling the dark pool of blood that had already gurgled its way into her lungs and begun to slowly drown her. Ribs though broken still somehow tried to cage the precious beating heart inside, protecting it from the very thing that now stared down at her mind. Cutting through a claw pierced deep, the red body tensing as a part of her was slowly being torn out. It was precious to her, it was hers, it helped her continue living! Already parts had faded and gone missing with the loss of loved ones in her life. So few pieces left to continue running on. A life was nothing without the pieces of a heart. Screams filled her head, confused by the sound and wondering how such a sound could be created. There should never be such a noise ever heard, the cries she heard in her mind. Not till she realized they were her own, the pain of having something being plucked from her life. Her body. Her mind. Her soul. He wanted what she had been clinging onto recently, trying to keep it safe and treasuring it with unbinding love.
...Once severed you will feel no more pain.
But there was still the pain. Past the point of going numb and her mind going blank, the pain continued, tearing as the claws pulled back, within its grasp a small piece hardly the size of a grain of sand. Smaller than the smallest seed. Yet it felt like it was pulling her body inside out. Grass and earth became stained in red, little rivers trickling out her nose and mouth. It seemed the end was so very near this time and so very real. Finally the last line was broken.
