Yeah, I figured I would give it a shot. Unless you have a specific scenario in mind, these'll likely just be little random scenes with one of my deer and however many of your deer you want. If you want to do an RP through another system (email or messenger or something), just let me know, I'll be happy to do so. So, if you wanna RP with one of my deer, post here saying which deer you'd like, and we can start something. I'm not sure how I'll keep this organized, but I'll do my best.
My Active Deer (links to their bios if they have them):
Seed:(X)
Hyacinth:(X)
Krim: (X)
...Yeah. I don't know how to close this out. Post if you wanna RP. But, as a head's up, I only RP my deer as deer. If I wanted to play humans, I would make up new human characters for it.
Oh, this is cool! I might
I might have a go. Tomorrow -- that is. Only if you want to though.

@Maria: Sure! Seed and Maria,
@Pega: Well, we could do one and then the other, in order of importance (so Toukan and Hyacinth first.) By the way, sorry I had to cut out so soon: I'm in the middle of writing a paper, so I can only take little bite-sized breaks. ...oh, and yeah: Seed managed to solve his problems by himself, like a big boy XD

Seed and Oisin maybe?
Sure, sounds good ^^

Oisin felt happy. In fact, he seemed to be feeling happier than usual lately. He wasn't really sure why, but he suspected it may have to do with a certain lady. Even his step seemed a bit lighter, despite the bad leg.
It seemed like a good day to just quietly enjoy the forest. Soon enough, he found himself headed toward the large stone idol, the water pouring out of its eyes from some unknown source apparently feeding the stream before it. Oisin realized he hadn't visited this idol in a while, and allowed himself to continue heading in that direction. There was something about it. Something that drew him to it. Almost like it reminded him of...something? As he stood before the idol, gazing up into its eyes, he almost felt like he could remember something of his life before. But, as always, there was nothing. Still, being here seemed to always make him feel at peace, and so he decided to relax here for a while, taking a drink from its cool waters.
@ Paz: Seed sighed. He just
Seed sighed. He just couldn't get the last time to work. The best idea he had took 6 syllables! He stood up from where he had been scratching the rough draft into the mud with his antlers and looked at it. He needed to stretch his legs; have a drink. He turned and began to walk, putting the occasional bounce in his step. He reached the crying idol, and for a moment closed his eyes to take in the sound of the overflowing waters as each falling droplet hit the one in front of it. Then he opened his eyes and noticed Oisin was also having a drink. His face beneath his mask flushed a little for not having said something sooner.
"Oh. Oisin -- I'm sorry. I nearly didn't notice you there."
He felt embarrassed as he dipped into his little half-bow. He didn't really know Oisin well, to be honest -- and right now, it troubled him. The first time they met had been a long time ago. And the only other time that Seed could recall...well...he had been pre-occupied. Still, he could make up for that, couldn't he? He pulled himself back up to standing straight and went to stand next to the younger stag.
((*poke poke*?))
Whoa, there's life
*wracks brain* Where should Toukan be. Where should Toukan be. |D;
Ruins, maybe?
[[Ok, let's see if this
Oh, and I'm referring to Toukan as a bull since I read that's what male reindeer are called.]]
The gray reindeer let out a sigh, watching his breath fog up in front of his face. Winter had clearly come, as was evidenced by the colder temperature and recent snow the Forest had had. Toukan always had mixed feelings about this time of the year. On the one hoof, he loved the snow winter brought, and thanks to the dense fur typical of his species, the cold was no problem--except for the few patches on his leg where the scarring was, but that was little extra bother than the usual. On the other hoof, this month brought back memories that could drop the bull's mood. He often wondered how his parents were.
If they were still alive.
Looking around the area surrounding where he sat in the middle of the Ruins--a grassy section he liked to sleep in--his cool eyes spotted the purple flowers that somehow still grew in the cold weather. Toukan felt something constrict strangely as they reminded him of Hyacinth. He still needed to tell her why he couldn't return her feelings. But...he hadn't seen the argus pelt-wearing doe around lately...
((oh I almost forgot about
Oisín looked up from where he was drinking, slightly startled as he hadn't noticed the other stag approaching. However, he smiled as he recognized his father's friend. He had always liked Seed, and liked to consider him a friend, even though he didn't see him much and didn't know him as well as he'd like.
"Ah, Sir Seed!" He bowed in return. "No harm done, my friend. I hadn't even noticed you approaching, myself!" He gave a lighthearted chuckle at this. "And how have you fared since we last met? It has been a while, has it not?"
@Pega Hyacinth walked
Hyacinth walked towards a patch of flowers that caught her eye, the wings of the purple butterflies glittering and flashing subtly in the sunlight, like a distant stream of water. She sniffed the delicate purple blossoms. She wasn't wearing any but those that generally hung around her ears today -- today she was still trying to see how she looked as a slightly more conventional-looking doe, with the butterfly antlers. She wasn't certain. Then she looked up and noticed Toukan, looking at the same patch of flowers she was. Her belly turned over -- even if they were preteding that she had never made her feelings clear (feelings that were sort of dying, just by merit of having nowhere to go), she felt awkward.
But she gave him an uneasy smile, bowed, and trotted closer to him. Awkward was, after all, better than being alone. And she still did feel safer with Toukan than she did with anyone else, though she couldn't exactly explain why. They were friends, even after all that -- Hyacinth didn't have many friends, really. She was trying to fix that recently.
@Paz:
Seed gave the matter of how he was doing some though. He was doing actually very well -- especially compared to the mess he was last time they had met. He had sort of been having poor luck finding company recently, but when he found it, it was more than good enough. And... there was, of course, the situation with Nevilly. He still thought of it in cautious ways, but he was happy to have it, to examine it carefully from time to time, like bringing a jewel to the light. He smiled warmly as he spoke.
"Too long, I suppose. I've been faring...actually, while I've been a little isolated, I've been faring very well. And how have you been?"
((gah. Braindead))
Almost as if some force were
Even if her smile hadn't been uneasy, he could tell she felt awkward. He hoped it wouldn't add to his own feelings; it tended to happen if he wasn't paying attention.
Trying not to trip over himself, the gray bull pulled himself up on his hooves, shaking the scarred leg a bit, as the cold had made it stiff while he'd been sitting.
"Hello Hyacinth," Toukan greeted with a careful bow. He took note of the different antlers she was sporting in place of her usual flower-covered ones.
The reindeer tilted his head curiously. "Trying out a new look?" The tone of voice suggested he didn't think it was bad at all. In fact, the antlers went quite well with the great argus pelt and whistling mask.
[*subtle poke in case this was forgotten*]
"Always good to hear," Oisin
((I haven't forgotten this,

I'll be using Kahlan...
@ MickKreiger: Maybe Krym,

Ah, ok. Feel better then!
Aw, it's fine, no problem.
@ Pega: As the subject turned
As the subject turned to -- well, anything, really -- Hyacinth's smile brightened. When she smiled like that, there was a sort of childishness to her silent face. Like a child, she was lost entirely in the joy that made her smile. She nodded and turned her head from side to side to show them off. She still wasn't exactly certain -- she missed the bright blue of the antlers of that pelt, and the way the purple flowers looked like heavy grapes, hanging from the sky. But she knew others recognized her as a doe more easily, though she wasn't sure how much of a difference that made.
She suddenly looked nervous and nudged his scarred leg with the tip of her nose, tilting her head with a concerned look in her bright green eyes. She didn't want to put too much stress on Toukan's bad leg, not on her account, anyway, and in the cold it seemed very stiff. She had always resolved to do something to help him, but she had never really know what she could do. And when she thought about it, as she was now, she got lost in the increasingly long list of non-options, and she came back from her thoughts sad and flustered. Which, as it happened, was what she did, her concerned look going to lip-biting worry, then a touch of panic, then something far away and sad as she shivered, her eyes going wide... and then she seemed focused back on the present with one last little shake. She nudged his leg again as if remembering her question, repeating the little head-tilt.
@ Paz:
Seed tilted his head, watching the blush on Oisin's face. Ah. He knew that blush -- if you said the right thing, he would wear it himself right now. Infatuation was like a disease, Seed reflected, with clear and present symptoms. Come to that, like a disease, it tended to spread around a community at a particular point. With a little knowing smile, he replied,
"No...But I take it there's someone special in your life?"
((yeah, little braindead there))
Noticing the change in
Instead, he frowned curiously as she nudged his leg, the back one he'd injured as a fawn. He could sense her concern; the awkward movements from when he'd stood up had more than likely given away that the cold was affecting it. He'd be perfectly fine in the cold if it wasn't for that little annoyance that proved more than a "little" annoying at times.
The reindeer wasn't sure what to make of the mix of emotions that followed. He tilted his head, wondering what was going through the doe's head. She seemed to snap back to the present a moment later, nudging his leg again. She had to be asking about it in her own way.
Toukan smiled reassuringly, shaking his head a bit and feeling his antlers sway from the motion. He wondered if they might drop soon. "Don't worry about this old leg problem. The cold just makes it stiff." He demonstrated by stomping the ground a bit to force some more blood flowing to it. "Walking might be a good idea actually, to work out some of the stiffness." The ice-colored gaze went back to her, as if asking what she thought of the idea. He wondered if it might snow some. It was always fun to try to catch the falling flakes.
The blush returned, with
((ugh, short...couldn't think of anything to add))
@Pega: Hyacinth relaxed.
Hyacinth relaxed. She'd trust him -- that was, if she had to think of it in those terms -- the best and saddest part. He'd broken her heart (and it had been her fault, too), and she'd trust him forever and always anyway. So she'd at least trust him about his leg. She began to march calmly through the snow, resisting the urge to dart ahead like a maddoe. the frost cracked slightly beneath her hooves as they destroyed each tiny crystal of ice. She turned and looked back at him and nodded for him to come with her.
((braindead. I'll get to Paz in a bit...))
Not needing to give a verbal
[[Semi-braindead I am. Because I'm not sure, he's not sure. XD;]]
@Paz: "It's only obvious
"It's only obvious because you're so embarrassed about it -- you've got nothing to be so hesitant over, unless..."
Seed was in a good enough mood that the mischief sparkled in his honey-gold eyes for a moment, the smile on his face turning into a playful smirk. He nudged the other stag with one shoulder as he finished the thought.
"...it's something terribly dirty, isn't it? Don't tell me you've fallen for one of Scape's siblings, have you? Or maybe an animal...That sort of thing always happens in stories. I'm guessing a rabbit."
The laughter rose from his throat, rolling out into the air and deforming into a softer chuckle.
@ Pega:
Hyacinth walked along, her head darting excitedly from side to side as they went. The forest was such a strange place. So magical that it excited and suffocated her with it at once. Sometimes she would see it on a slow walk like this, coiling around things out of the corner of her eyes, so powerful it was nearly tangible -- and sometimes it even was, in little flickering lights that rose and fell in the cool air like dust motes. Sometimes it reminded her of sacred places back...back then. Right now, though, it just reminded her of itself.
She began to make a little noise in her throat, or a sort of halting humming. She never carried it through for long before the sound would die in her throat. After a while, the bits she did hum started to create a tune like something out of an old musicbox. She seemed to not be thinking about it as she walked, though.
Toukan found himself smiling
Gray ears twitched curiously. What was that sound...?
Looking at Hyacinth again, the bull blinked. "You're humming." Or attempting to at least. The sounds seemed forced; probably why she never usually talked. He'd never asked the reason behind the muteness.
He blinked again a moment later -- this time at himself -- realizing he'd said that out of nowhere.
What did one follow something like that with to make it seem less random?
Hyacinth blinked in response,
So she turned her spring-leaf green eyes back to Toukan and shrugged, the smile on her lips fighting to keep from becoming hollow. Then it brightened as a thought occured to her. With the edge of her nose, she nudged his own throat and looked up at him with a child's innocence and nodded. She wanted to hear him sing or hum, if he understood what she meant.
((this is making me wonder if her backstory is as simple as I've been thinking it was...))
"Wha...? Dirty? How... No!"
[[I used to think Toukan's
Toukan felt like kicking himself if he could. "I didn't mean you had to stop." He wished he hadn't said anything now. It hadn't been bad to listen to.
He blinked at the smile Hyacinth gave, it not quite reaching her eyes. Had he caused that? Before he could ponder feeling guilty, the smile suddenly turned genuine, making him want to blink again.
Instead, his brow furrowed in a frown of confusion from her suddenly nudging at his throat followed by a nod. What was she saying? Taken in context, since she'd gone quiet after humming...
Ice blue eyes widened a bit when he realized what she meant.
"You...want me to sing?" Toukan could swear his face was heating up.
He did know a few songs that he liked, but...
"I don't think I'm very good though..." He'd only ever gotten a few opinions, and that had been from friends. It had also been awhile.
@Pega: Hyacinth nodded,
Hyacinth nodded, pouting against his protests. She had hummed for him, even if she had gotten too caught up in wondering where she had heard the song to remember how it went. Just a little song, even if he wasn't good, would be good. Hyacinth turned her head slightly and waited for him to start. "inside everyone's a song, you know." someone had told her once. She didn't press herself to remember who, though. She just kept walking slowly ahead, waiting for his song.
((braindead. Will get to the other reply later.))
[[ |D I hope you're familiar
Part of Toukan wanted to keep protesting, but that pouting expression Hyacinth wore kept him from doing so. He didn't want to upset her again by accident. Besides, a part of him wanted to sing, too.
Well...it couldn't hurt, he supposed. No one else was around to hear at least.
Or he hoped not anyway.
Sighing, he gave in. "Alright then..." He closed his eyes, taking a minute to remember how the song went. He hadnt heard it in awhile after all...
"My eyes are open wide, and by the way, I made it through the day..." The words started a bit shaky, as it had been awhile, but slowly grew more confident. "I watch the world outside, and by the way, I'm leaving out today...
I just saw Hailey's comet shoo~ti~ng. Said why you always running in place? Even the man in the moon disapea~red~ somewhere in the stratosphere.

He trailed off here, pausing after the chorus to catch his breath instead of going to the next verse. It really had been awhile.
The reindeer glanced at Hyacinth, wondering what her reaction would be.
@Paz: Ok, so that was a bad
Ok, so that was a bad idea -- the bit of mischief there evaporated quickly when he saw how authentically flabbergasted his joke had made the younger stag. He did laugh a bit, though, a kind of sad chuckle that died in the air quickly. He shook his head with an honest but uneasy smile on his face, said,
"I'm sorry. I was playing with you there a bit...But I think being shy will only invite more teasing than being honest; the world can't make fun of an unashamed person, after all."
He had always tried to conduct himself with a certain degree of emotional honesty; it was important to him, even if, as it had recently, it created a certain amount of trouble. He wondered faintly -- if he could have been dishonest with himself and the world about his feelings for Nevilly, what would have happened? It caused trouble there for a while, but it was the source of his happiness. That was the best he could do.
"I think being honest with yourself and the world is the only real way to know who you are."
@ Pega:
Hyacinth smiled. It wasn't the world's greatest singing of the world's greatest song, but the way he sang it had meaning. She smiled and nodded at him, though whether it was satisfaction that he had done enough, or an encouragement to go onward, her expression didn't say. Hyacinth would have been happy with both, but wasn't sure there what she wanted.
Her eyes caught sight of something moving away from her. It was small and brown, the long fur on the edge of the tasil waving charmingly in the wind. She darted ahead to catch the squirrell just as it vanished from sight. She sighed; she never seemed able to get them before they were gone. She trotted back to Toukan with a nervous smile, like she knew what she was doing looked odd. Sometimes things just struck her like that, and she had to follow through. But at least the world was interesting, right?
The reindeer was still a bit
Toukan blinked in surprise when Hyacinth suddenly darted ahead, barely catching sight of the object of her interest. He smiled a bit in amusement as she returned, failing to catch the furry squirrel. "Got away, huh?" His head shook back and forth. "I swear those squirrels are like ninjas," he said jokingly. Mentioning ninjas brought a certain ninja-friend to mind. And that also brought up a conversation the bull had had with said "ninja" recently.
One that included the question of "You gonna tell her?"
He hadn't been able to answer that.
He knew he should. It was clear holding back that information wasn't helping anything.
Toukan cought himself almost frowning from his train of thought, hoping he caught it in time before she saw it. Not knowing what else to do -- and as there wasn't much of interest in the immediate area -- he tried changing the subject.
"So, uh..." He looked away in thought for a moment before turning his head back. "You wanna head to the pond?" Even though we go there practically every time we hang out... his mind continued. It was true, though. The two almost always headed there, if they didn't get halted by an interesting patch of flowers.
He'd try telling her soon.
If at least to stop the asking of "You tell her yet?"
Now Oisin was a bit
"You...are right." Was he not being honest with himself? And if not, what was the reason? He thought back to when he first realized he had feelings for Poltergeist, beyond simple friendship. He had been reluctant to give those feelings a name at the time, uncertain as to whether or not they were the real thing. After all, he was still quite new to this. Since then, his feelings had grown to the point where he could no longer deny them. So what was it that held him back?
"Perhaps I am...afraid? No, maybe not quite afraid, but more apprehensive. This is a completely new thing to me, after all. At least... I cannot remember having experienced it before..." Oisin's past life was still mostly a mystery to him. Had he ever loved before, while living in that other world? If he had, he could not remember it, or what it was like, and so he was left knowing just as little either way. "I am not quite sure what to expect. I don't know how she feels, and I am unsure how I should tell her, or when." He sighed, his head and ears drooping slightly. "I should really be talking to Father about this. But I haven't seen him..."
((I totally forgot about
She nodded. Sure, they always went to the pond. But the pond was beautiful. Tbe waters were cool and lovely, and frogs played in the shallows. She loved the pond, and she loved walking there. It was like she could see the whole forest, just walking slowly along. She began to fall into that familiar pace -- her tread very relaxed and easy, as if she were just drifting along. Her eyes, before glancing back at Toukan, followed the little motes of light that floated around like dandelion seeds.
After a while, they reached the pond. It was unusually silent today, with only a few deer sleeping around the shore. There are always some deer sleeping there, after all. Hyacinth skipped the last few steps as the grass gave way to mud and reeds. She took one or two delicate sips, then glanced at Toukan again.
((...and I'll get to my other response in a bit.))
[[Sadly I am drawing a blank
((well, he's clearly moving
[[Ok, I broke past my brain
Relaxed and easy wasn't quite how Toukan walked. Apprehension-just-barely-hidden mixed with his usual limp made for a decidely ungraceful pace. But that didn't make the scenery any less nice to look at from the usual. His mind was barely noticing it this time though, currently occupied with thinking of how to lead up to his admission.
Catching the cool scent of water on the wind snapped the bull back to focus, the two apparently having reached the pond. Despite his mood he was trying to hide, Toukan couldn't keep a small smile from his face at her little leaping motions to get to the shallow water.
He reached it himself a few seconds later, albeit much more calmly, as skipping was out of the question for him.
The water was chilled due to the time of year, but refreshing nonetheless. The reindeer could feel his antlers sway a bit again from the motion of lowering and raising his head back up. He decided to comment on it out loud. "Feels like my antlers are gonna drop soon. Probably be like a repeat of the rut...but with me attracting stags instead of attracting does," he said with some humor injected into his voice, ending with a half-amused snort.
Wait. He'd been trying to think of a lead-in. This might work.
It was here his voice lowered some, feeling awkward at what he said next and keeping his eyes forward to watch the koi fish swim around the water lily in the pond. "Too bad it'll be because they'll think I'm a doe..."
Hopefully she'd get what he was hinting at so this would be easier to explain. If not, then, well...he'd just have to get it over with and be blunt. There was no turning back now as it was.
lol I guess we've come to a
They could change the subject, but then what?
Oh well.
