I wonder what M & A could do with $1,000 (don't know if that'll be in USD [740 EURO] or EURO [$1350 USD]) but either way they're getting it. I'm really curious, too, how much that would help them with funding. I'm debating asking them or keeping it a semi-secret and surprising them with it once I'm making the big bucks. What do you guys think?

This section is personal for me, I'm creating a list of different charities I want to donate to. My new plan is to donate what extra money I have to a variety of charities. The following are who I am currently considering:
Health-related charities:
AWC - A Wider Circle: "to help individuals and families lift themselves out of poverty."
DAREF - Diabetes Action Research and Education Foundation: "to find cures for diabetes and related diseases and to enhance the quality of life for all people affected by diabetes." (My mom has diabetes so that is why I would donate to this charity)
FACT - Food Animal Concerns Trust: "to improve the welfare of farm animals; address public health problems such as the safety of meat, milk, and eggs; broaden opportunities for family farmers; and reduce environmental pollution."
Environmental and Animal-related Charities
AF - American Forests: "to grow a healthier world with trees."
National Audubon Society: "to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity." (Caw asked me to donate to this charity)
Defenders of Wildlife: "to protect all native wild animals and plants in their natural communities." (Blixt requested that I donate to this charity)
FoE - Friends of the Earth: "to defend the environment and champion a healthy and just world." (Trunks wished for me to donate to this charity)
FT - Friends of Trees: "to preserve and enhance the urban forest through public education, promotion and support of urban tree planting projects and urban tree maintenance for the public benefit." (Pent said I had to donate to this charity)
NWF - National Wildlife Foundation: "to educate, inspire and assist individuals and organizations of diverse cultures to conserve wildlife and other natural resources and to protect the Earth’s environment in order to achieve a peaceful, equitable and sustainable future." (Quad wants me to donate to this charity)
Rainforest Alliance: “to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior.” (Zephyr asked me to donate to this charity)
TWP - Trees, Water, and People: "to improve people’s lives by helping communities to protect, conserve and manage the natural resources upon which their long-term well-being depends."
Water.org: "to educate those in the U.S. and other developed countries about the water supply problems faced by people in developing countries and serve as a charitable organization by raising funds to support the implementation of water supply project initiatives benefiting people in developing countries."
WS - Wilderness Society: "to protect wilderness and inspire Americans to care for our wild places."
WWF - World Wildlife Fund: “to preserve the diversity and abundance of life on Earth and the health of ecological systems by protecting natural areas and wild populations of plants and animals, including endangered species; promote sustainable approaches to the use of renewable natural resources; and promote more efficient use of resources and energy and the maximum reduction of pollution.”

Here's the link to the website I used for these resources. Of course my choices are not limited to this list, and some charities I may not even get to donate to, but I will do everything I can to save the world. That I promise
Awsomeness quad.
Saving the world, one rock at
I probably have more to add
Hah, awesome Quad! I'm taking
Added a couple of more - I
I also have been thinking about it - I'll be making 30-45K after I graduate with my B.S., and if I go to grad school for my M.S., the amount will be closer to 80-100K. I think I've decided that I will not be living luxuriously. Sure, I'll go off on my cruise, go to Europe, ect when I can afford it, but I'm not going to go buy a Mercedes or live on a private estate. I think I want to donate a good portion of my earnings, and save the world that way.
And yes, this is my serious plan, I really do want to help the world as much as I can before I die.
I'm thinking that they'd put
It's just awesome that you're going to help out this much, not just ToT but other organizations as well!
Looks like I've had a
I've officially decided that I will be donating to multiple charities for the rest of my life. When I get done with my bachelors degree, I should be making around $30-45K. Well, my newest plan is to try to get into grad school and go for my masters degree. If I'm able to accomplish that, my earnings will go up to around $80-100K.
I decided that I refuse to live luxuriously. I want to live in a nice small town and have a nice house, of course, but I'm not going to be greedy with my money. I keep saying I want to save the world, and I believe this is my way to do it, to send some of the money I earn to those who need it more than I do.
The list above is just a few organizations I want to donate to. I'm sure there are others out there I'd be more than happy to donate to (and if you have a particular charity you think needs to be on this list, by all means let me know and I'll most likely add it).
Wow. You have one good life
It's really kind to donate to all these charities and to M & A, since all these need the money. You don't have to add this, but are you going to donate to help research a cure for breast cancer?
I wish I could donate like that. Hopefully all these charities use this money to help the world...
Right on Quad!!

Marriage is a relationship where one is the husband and the other is always right.
I could add an organization
I'll look around for a good Breast Cancer charity and a Cancer Research charity to add to the list. Thanks for the suggestion.
Quad, you're all kinds of
Currently I'm donating £5 a month to Concern Universal, I always spare some change to charities where I can, so I know the buzz you get from doing a good deed once a day!
I don't know many american charities at the moment, but I'll keep thinking on it.
You're a hero, Quad- in your own little ways. 2 Gallons of blood is *amazing* but, I think you're okay to stop sparing it now for a bit. XD
Now the shorelines beckon- there is a price for being free.
Quad, I don't think I've ever
Oh pshaw! It took a long
It took a long time for me to figure out what my calling was. I constantly wondered what I would accomplish in life, and a lot of times I never felt like I was good at anything. I think once I got into Geology (which was what I wanted to do since I was in elementary school but never knew any practical uses for it), I started to see my future clearer and started to think about what I could do for a living.
Then it hit me - I've been reading the newspaper lately and all I see is money money money. People complaining about tax increases. People going insane about the economy. I think for some people it's tough to think away from money and look at the world as a beautiful thing. It's hard NOW because things in my life have always seemed to revolve around money (more like lack of it and the frustration of not being able to get things done).
So once I realized that I would be making a good bit of money, I decided that I'll use what I need of it, and then send a good chunk of it to those who can really use it. I want to help those in poverty, help researchers find cures for some of the diseases that really damage people's lives (my Dad's cancer is really impacting my entire family), and also help the planet become more beautiful. I think this will be my way to enjoy life, and as I keep saying, save the world.
I've heard so many times that 'money can't buy happiness.' I don't need five cars or a fancy house to be happy, I'd rather see my money go to support things that benefit the world.
Thanks for your support, everyone. I'm glad to know that my choice has gotten your approval, and when I start to get this going, I'll let you all know how I'm doing. I think my first order of business will be to 'symbolically adopt' an Orca Whale in honor of one of our TEF members who really deserves a lot of recognition. You probably know who
Sorry that your having a
Over here in Australia we do a "40 hour famine" to help the worlds poorest countries. More info about it here: http://www.worldvision.com.au/ourwork/solutions/40hourfamine.aspx
I'm sorry to hear about your dad. He looks like a surviror, since he made it through all those cancers.. o.o.
You didn't have to add breast cancer, but thanks anyways. I'm a bit worried for my mum about it but she doesn't have signs of it that I can see. And those ads on the radio about it get me going.
No one needs fancy stuff to be happy, that's totally right ^^. (My brother has an exception )
