Have you tried music? Music is a very good muse builder; listen to some favorite songs of your's to get your imagination flowing ;]
Another way is to just observe your surroundings. If I'm ever outside, just listening to the birds chirping, once in a while I get a sudden spurt of muse.
I don't know how many times I've had to keep replaying a song because I kept erasing a section of my sketch. It just takes patience in order to get the right pose or form you want C: Also, since you said you're doing requests, do the characters you're drawing have a song on their bio(s)? That would probably be your best bet, to listen to a song that fits the character you're drawing.
Again, practice makes perfect! Learning from the mistakes you make will improve your artistic ability. Don't get discouraged if it doesn't turn out the way you want it to, because that's how you get better <3
