Masks

So. I'm new to TEF, having found it through fanart on DA. I decided to check it out, and having been intrigued sufficiently, made an account. I love the silence thing. I find it wonderful. The game is free of any would be bullies-it's a welcoming safe haven where everyone is kind. The animation is fairly smooth and extremely realistic, and I love everything about it. Well, almost. Although interesting, I am slightly unsettled by the human faces. The "real deer" mask, though a good idea, has a rather creepy air around it. The eye a white slit, the face lacking a lower jaw, the nose rather like that of an armadillo, which the lighter spots on the face also contribute to... A feature I would enjoy is an option, perhaps a little check box on the options screen, that would allow you to have a real deer's facial structure. Why am I typing this??? I highly doubt this will even be taken into consideration, and I fully appreciate how much work that single adjustment would be. Just a thought. <:3

Welcome to TEF. (: I believe

Welcome to TEF. (:
I believe you will get used to the humanoid faces after a while, and when it comes to the masks, or anything in-game really...you just have to use your imagination when it comes to your deer's appearance. n_n

Aw, I love your insights!

Aw, I love your insights! Yes, newcomers are often awed upon first experiences in the Forest XD And even to people who have been here for years, the Forest's magic never wears off. It truly is a peaceful, beautiful place. Welcome to TEF!!! I'm Bayleen, it's nice to meet you!

Ah yes I know at first I was

Ah yes I know at first I was like 'what the heck a human face?!' but then I got used to it and now I love it! Plus the human faces are based off of the Abiogenesis. So if they were real deer faces it would kind of ruin the idea :|

Hi, Welcome to the forest!
On my first days I was really scared by the human faces too, but I think you'll get used to it Smiling Just so you know you are not the only one xD

The original character

The original character designer, Lina Kusaite, has an extremely unique storybook style. That is part of the appeal of this to me.
I personally feel if you try to look at the humanoid face as completely human, there is something unnerving about it. But the way I see the faces, based on her designs, they are very natural in a fantastic sort of way.

Playing as any animal in a game (wolf, fox, deer) is not a bad thing. But it is a very different experience. In the forest, you play as an animal, but also as a human. Your deer body is guided by your human mind (you, the player behind the screen). Your deer can think, interact, and dream as a human does... which to me seems more honest than a parade of humans pretending they know how a deer or fox or wolf thinks and feels.
That's the feeling I get from the design, but there are many who share your feelings about wanting a pure deer avatar.

I hope you will find a way to play that suits you. Welcome to the forest.

I don't strive to be the best, but instead I strive to do my best, and always give it my all every time.
