new guy to get to know him better.
Literate only please. I don't like putting a minimum words on things but I think 150+ is a good aim? I always go way over that anyway but blububub.
Any sort of character is fine I guess?
Stay in the established order, if you can't post on your turn just ask to be skipped.

It took more than a few moments for the bull to recall where he was when he opened his eyes; cold blue gaze flicking rapidly around the scene before him with a moment of complete confusion. Natanael had slept in strange places, in forests, scrubs and jungles alike but to find oneself face down on wet leaf litter when he was not expecting it was a shock and a half.
With a sharp snort the male lifted his head, displacing a single brown leaf from where it was stuck on his cheek with the moisture, and slowly came to the conclusion that no he was not at home, or even indeed in the human world he favoured considerably more. Still stuck here, unable to leave and trapped with multiple dangerous prey and predator animals alike.
Rolling his head until it clicked satisfyingly, the greyish hued male slowly pulled one of his paws out from where it was tucked beneath his girth and tested the soil before him as if expecting it to disappear. With a grunt and a stumble he heaved himself up and shook all over. Nodding in approval to some unknown cause, the bull moved from the side of the tree on which he had been lain and cautiously surveyed the surroundings.
It was by no means quiet, early afternoon and despite the waterlogged feel in the forest, there were deer of all sizes and ages moving around in the distance. They seemed to be frequenting the pond, thus Nate chose to avoid it and instead moved in a slow arc around the stream to avoid also having to leap over it.
Stopping at the idol the chimera moved down the incline and stared at the structure carefully. His first few trips to this strange eden and nothing had unsettled him more than the vaguely macabe statue and its ever running tears. It still unsettled him, but it beat drinking from the water closer to the ground and thus potentially soiled in multiple ways.
Not that he cared much, Nate had been all over the human world including many third world countries, he’d had to draw moisture from plants or usually extremely unfavourable ditches and in comparison the idol was a welcome blessing.
After an awkward drink, since he lacked hands suitable for cupping the water to his lips, the large male washed his face and bowed his head, letting the water run over his black messy hair and skirt awkwardly off his small black horns (since today he neglected to wear his usual tiger-skull mask, and left it at his densite).
Stepping back he immediately regretted it, since he couldn’t slick his hair backwards out of his face with no hands to do so with, and thus shook rapidly. It didn’t really help and he sighed in irritation.
Backstepping a few paces and turning around, the chimera glanced around a second time for onlookers before moving off into the deeper parts of the forest to look for his son, assuming the younger male would be where he left him.
Not in any real hurry however, Natanael kept his eyes and tufted ears open for anything interesting, especially to a hunter like he.
At a distance, La was
She really hated it when she saw with her own eyes things that her book insisted weren't real, so she shut the book with a noisy fwhap of pages colliding and forcing out air and pushed it with her nose under a shrub as punishment.
The doe stretched her neck (absolutely necessary after reading when she felt like all of the muscles near her spine had tied themselves into vicious little knots) and got up. She was more nervous and mistrustful of the non-deer as she got closer and got a better look at quills under his tail-feathers, but he seemed calm to her more than he seemed like a threat, and so long as she wasn't filled with fear La's curiosity would always be the emotion that dictated her actions.
When she was four or five bodylengths from him (enough that she thought she'd be able to bolt if she had to), she tested the waters. "Hello," she said as amiably as possible. If he didn't respond she'd start trying other languages. "I sort of got the sense looking at you that you just got here and don't quite have your bearings yet." What are you?
I gave it a while to see if

At first it could have been assumed that the smaller doe’s approach had gone unnoticed by the chimera. He did not glance in her direction though very slowly his pace dropped as if he was choosing the steps very carefully, even going as far to flick his tail lazily (though it possibly gave off a different signal since it revealed the barbed weaponry).
As the monochrome female came as close as she was willing, Natanael stopped in his tracks and stared ahead mutely, before another sudden tail flick and ever so slowly swooped his head in an arch to stare at her over his shoulder. There was a blank, lazy way in which he stared that almost made it seem like he hadn’t heard her at all until he murmured;
“ ‘lo.”
And turned in place upon long, stocky legs until he was faced more in her direction, rapidly flicking his stark blue eyes across her body and face for anything important but found she was hardly a visible threat at all. She was evidently like no deer he’d seen before, quite a few came in that colour but never with those peculiar markings; even less so the strange adornment upon her head.
There was a strange sort of smile upon his face, fairly fake and not at all a joyous one but polite regardless as the bull listened to her words and nodded along;
“I guess. It’s not that big of a forest though. Been in worse.” A roll of his broad shoulders at some unknown joke which seemed to amuse him and make the smile more genuine; “It’s the locals I’m concerned about. What’s it to you friend?”
What was she supposed to be, the guide? Somehow it didn’t surprise him much but he couldn’t help constantly flicking his gaze between a few moments at her face, to a split second glance at La’s strange antler/horns. Very interesting.

She felt more than she saw his careful scanning of her form with his eyes, but was not offended by the analytic gaze because she was looking at him exactly the same way. Identify, compare, analyze, hypothesize. Test.
His question derailed her thoughts and put her on a different track. The idea of locals in The Forest was a question of history, religion, geography, and opinion. She tried to simplify things and pack away the bubbling thoughts that she wanted to express. "The locals are mostly not something to worry about. But to be perfectly honest, I did come to speak with you to try to discern whether you would be a point of concern yourself."

Ever late to the gathering, Kaivan came trotting from the tree line in a brisk almost frantic manner. The expression on his almost cat like features screaming that the youth was quite disgruntled. He wasn't taking this excursion well, and it showed. His feathers were ruffled, and most of his quills were held aloft in high alert.
The inhabitants of this place were far from normal. Unicorns weren't supposed to be real. Yet there they were. Horses weren't supposed to have spikes and be flaming balls of fire. Yet... There was one. A heavy sigh heaved from his lungs, pupils pinning to focus on his father.
For a moment the doe beside his father was completely and utterly ignored, their conversation seemingly nonexistent. However, Teenagers acted how teenagers acted and Kai was beyond bold. He didn't care for a second if he interrupted some deep dark meaningful conversation, so long as he was able to get his two cents in. Piping up in a voice that would go better on an aged actor, he spoke directly at his father. "We need to go before I hyperventilate and can't get proper medical care." He paused, eyes partially lidding, lungs heaving. "I think I've developed asthma. Yes... That must be why I can't breathe."
Only then he noticed the doe at his fathers side. His pale minty green eyes widened and the hundreds of quills along his body rose and rattled in warning. The boy instantly backed towards the father he still hardly knew, seeking comfort in the only thing that was 'normal'. Even if his father -had- been turned into the same thing as himself. A chimera and an odd one at that.
"Who the hell...Dad. Who..." He cleared his throat, brow knitting. "What is that?" He asked pointedly while his gaze bore into the doe.

When the monochrome doe leant forward to sniff him, Natanael did the same however he did not scent her at all. It was more a less-than-subconscious way of showing his domination since he was much taller. With another absent flick of his barbed tail the large bull’s face split into a steady smirk as she spoke of trying to catagorise him;
“Why? Am I threatening or something?” The concept amused him enough to laugh quietly, yet it wasn’t a particularly mocking tone either; “Concerning would be some of the large predators I’ve seen ambling around here, the worst I have are these.”
Nate lifted one of his broad, well-furred paws for a moment and shook it, but did not flex to reveal the claws. Apparently he also neglected to mention his quills, since they were primarily hidden by the heavy feathering upon his shoulders and hips and with no cause for alarm, lay flat and camouflaged.
He was about to continue, press into the matter of how this small, odd little female could afford the bravery that most others had not yet expressed when something caught his attention and the large male tilted his head away, staring to the left.
Kaivan, his son, and at the arrival of which made the bull lift his head back up from its stooped arch and he waited to be addressed. He cracked a thin smile at the teens words;
“You are not dying Apple. Stop breathing so hard and you won’t.” There was an awkward pause at the end of his words as if he was going to attempt to repeat the word hyperventilate, but couldn’t; “And you don’t have asthma.”
Yet at the sudden rattle it was almost hilariously timed that it triggered his father into raising his quills and rattling back in the manner of a spontaneous reaction to the others threatening/warning, though he was more apparently rattling at nothing, or perhaps more at his son, than he was at La.
With a noisy clear of his throat Natanael tried to lower the barbs as he eyed the other male with a scowl;
“I don’t know yet” He replied sharply, before looking back at the female;
“Less of an animal more of a person I would guess, but before you interrupted-“ Another sharp glance and a purposeful pause directed at his child; “I was about to ask.”

"There are carnivores that exist in The Forest, yes, but they're decently well understood by us deer. Any place like The Endless Forest attracts its fair share of mythic dragons and rainbow wolves that come in and settle here because they like it, but they usually reach an understanding with the deer population. That aside, there are known dangers and unknown dangers, and in the end it's the unknown ones that cause the most trouble for people," she said.
The doe looked at his paw and observed the shape. Mammalian, reminiscent of felines--and she knew well what most feline claws hid. Gods, if she'd had real hands she would have been able to draw the entire skeletal diagram in the dirt with a stick. Do carnivores think that their prey wouldn't have done everything possible to understand how they work? "And I've found that the easiest way to learn things is to ask them honestly and hope I'll get an honest answer in return."
La saw the adolescent and her fears and worries were almost immediately assuaged despite hidden claws. A youth seeking his parent was something she found inherently endearing rather than frightening. She relaxed very obviously and smiled more genuinely with her own amusement, enough so that her eyelids barely twitched when she saw the quills become erect. Feline paws, avian feathers, and porcupine quills didn't really go together in any world she knew.
"I'm a deer," she told the adolescent.

It was with great pleasure that the tom had sprawled over one of the many granite boulders scattered throughout the forest, the grey stone radiating heat from constant bathing by the sun. He remained basking there for hours, hardly moving, for all the world appearing as comfortable as if he was lounging on a bed of leaves. Too soon, his rest was rudely interrupted by loud, rapidly approaching wheezing from behind and the hoof falls from the front. Monochromatic silver eyes opened to slits, narrowed against the sudden onslaught of light but able to see for a distance nonetheless. Two voices, one higher and one a low rumble, preceded a doe and an unusual looking male. Brindle hackles rose a fraction as the lynx chimera studied the bull; out of all the forest’s unusual residents, this one was not like any he had seen before. Would he go after the little doe that so naively followed him? It would be interesting to watch how he went after prey. A soft mrrt of amusement was uttered at the doe’s relaxed posture, her proclamation of complete unconcern.
Another moment went by as he put the bull’s voice and scent to memory before silvery eyes closed. Duran was quite prepared to sleep all day. However, the youngster’s sudden noisy appearance destroyed any remaining plans for a nap that the tom might have entertained. One sharp, short yowl of annoyance was voiced before he slunk down from the rock, pacing halfway between his perch and the small group. “You three are so noisy, you’d wake a hibernating bear. Do you enjoy making a nuisance out of yourselves?”

"That. Deer?! She has a human face. Father! What are we doing here?!" He shrieked through his excessive heaving and fearful spine rattling. When his father's spines joined in instinctively, his quivering furthered till he vibrated quite noticeably. He turned away from La to press himself against his father, face desperately seeking a place to hide. Seemed the teen had turned to mush as far as 'being a man' is concerned.
When the third deer creature thing came into view, the boy couldn't do anything but gasp and rattle. Likely loosing quills into his fathers side. Good job Apple, just poke the shit outta daddy dearest.
