(Be slow enough~)
The Nightmare was so close to his victory, it made him want to prolong it. This moment was worth to enjoy, to savour, to celebrate. For so long he had pursued the cripple's dreams, facing war with the nicest of mental images the small broken creature had.
Large jaws carried the limp and dirty corpse around the forest, before getting bored of the taste of death's physical form.
He began carrying it in his black vine's embrace, playing with it like a doll.
Whenever he sat, he had Nidhem's body between his crooked limbs, watching the forest and everyone passing by, whispering cruelty into the buck's ear, forming the pitch black lullaby for his final journey.
No one could steal his victory from him...
...or could they?
Oh yes, there is a way to defeat a Nightmare...
Anyone can defeat a Nightmare.
His physical form will not take hits as he is only a shadow, a puff of dark smoke.
He will not bleed, nor does he have bones to break.
He is the mental form of your worst nightmares, a shapeshifter of the night.
Approaching him ties you closer with his black vines, but do not fear, as he has no interest towards your life. Only what you know of his current victim, Nidhem.
What do you remember about the crippled buck, exactly?
Do you even know him?
Telling your strongest and most meaningful encounter might weaken the darkness. It is a sign Nidhem is remembered, and he has once brought at least something positive into the lives of others. The Nightmare can be proved to be wrong, that his words are nothing but a lie to weaken the already broken thing.
It doesn't matter if you do not even know him, or recall any positive encounter.
Things that bring happiness, especially butterflies, flowers and toys are poison for the lord of the sad and scaring dreams.
Gather them to the Oak, the place Nidhem laid his head for the last time.
Lay them on the soft sheepskin there, and smile at the beauty which will eventually chase the Nightmare away.
_______________________________________________________________
HELLO. I finally got to the point where people can participate! In the story there was already hints what could be used to defeat the Nightmare.
ANYONE CAN TAKE PART IN THIS.
Some more info for you:
It doesn't matter if your character has never met Nidhem. They can do big things with small deeds like collecting flowers and butterflies or other beautiful things. Nidhem really loves those. I imagine they'd be gathered into the Oak, on the sheepskin Nidhem had before he was stolen.
If your character knows Nidhem however, and has meaningful memories of him, even better.
They can confront the Nightmare and tell him their story. Stronger the memory, larger the damage. (Many can be told, I'm not stopping ya.)
You can reply to this with any format you want. You can write, draw, take a screenshot, do a little rp etc. (That last picture there will actually be updated with every participation BD)
This plot is not meant to shed blood, so attacking the Nightmare is pretty useless. He just vanishes like smoke. (I'm not telling characters can't try though!)
The Nightmare will roam around the forest using this picto: X
for Nid's sake I'd really appreciate a participation if you feel like it ♥
The creature's expression wasn't easily seen, but it could be felt. The stinging in his voice, in his movements, made Ambrose flinch. But the words from the thing's mouth only seemed to twist his heart further. "Why shouldn't I?" Used, broken...terrible things to say about another. The buck furrowed his brows and turned his unsteady gaze onto the shadow. "There's no reason to neglect..." The thing's constant movement distracted him, and he lost his words. It felt too familiar, disturbing. Instead Ambrose gulped and took a shaky step forward toward the entangled stranger, head slightly ducked in fear of the smaller one's captor.
Kurami stood suddenly to the sound of the creature's words. Disgust filled his face as the black mass toyed with the lifeless body of the buck.
"Who..do you think you are..to call Nidhem your little prize..?
The stag was nervous, confronting someone was never his strong point but this scene was too unpleasant to back away from. A mixture of disgust, fear and rage made Kurami hold his ground and stare at the creature directly with hackles high across his back. At this point he was unsure on what to do. Aside from looking big and attempting to intimidate, actually attacking the creature may put Nidhem in more danger. Reasoning with the creature seemed to be the only option if it was even possible.
------------------
For hours she had watched it. Keen red eyes searched the blackness. Not from far as the others had, no she was close to it. Lilith had no fear of being discovered for her dimension was invisible to all. Here in her home she was safe from anything. It's presence among the graves irked her, a million needles where she could not reach them. Once more her blood red eyes scanned the creature for information. Another shadow has fallen in this forest...mmm....shit.
It was made of inky webs, dripping shadows on the mossy stones. Contempt crept into her. The pose of the shadow was unconcerned, arrogant... cocky even. The attitude of a cat playing with a cornered mouse. Not much could hurt it anyway. Woven of darkness, dust, ink and all the things children feared it was almost intangible. The haze surrounding it cast a sickly glow on the grass, burning so black it nearly glowed. No demon was this creature. No minion. Her lips rose to reveal white fangs as she sneered at this thing with disgust. Oh Lilith knew this creature, knew it well. A boggart, taking the shape of fears that no one spoke of. Everything and nothing, untouchable as the growing fog. It was said laughter drove them away, that and kindness.
"I do not apprrrove of your pressssence here..." The voice came from everywhere, the sky and the shadows of silent graves. Devoid of emotion it sounded like two snakes hissing slightly out of sync. "You disturb the grrravesss..." Her voice took on a mocking sing song rhythm as she continued. "You do not belong here.... soon you will be gone."
Suddenly Lilith appeared as if from thin air. Her dimension closed behind her and dispersed. Odd tones were brought out of her pelt from the half light. Around her shoulders she carried her own spiderweb of white string, twelve glowing souls caught in its strands. A figure to behold was she, 6.9 ft at the shoulder, she stood tall. A mocking grin stretched the human face to odd proportions. Wordless noise like the buzzing of a saw fell from her lips for awhile before she spoke once more. "Thisss isss my domain crrreature. The forrressst is no place for you." Finally she allowed her eyes to the creature caught in the webs, ragged and small it was. If it did not make it though this ordeal it would be a tasty snack for her. Pity was felt inside of her, no shadow should take chances. Perrrhapsss you have hearrrd...mmm... yesss? Eightssscorrre demonsss came not one month ago. The rrressidents of thisss forrresst made them rrun for home. Thiss forresst hass a way of prrotecting it'ss own." Lilith jerked her head towards the mess of a deer the shadow held. "He belongss herrre. You don't.

Oh, I'm just a girl, trying to find a place in this world.
An unsure male. Seeming quite unsure about where to look either. Surely that was all talk to fill his day? It was almost like he bowed to his might. With that, the head was pulled high up and a chuckle filled the air, a sly smile behind the veil that passed his face.
“You could just move along and not ruin your day. Why do you still choose to come closer to the smell of death that comes from him? ”
He questioned the pale creature, voice given a higher pitch.
---------
LostintheEcho:
So he got the other to react. He started to wonder why this presence felt so familiar... Maybe he had lingered in the lifeless buck's dreams, but it had slipped the Nightmare's grasp. A silent company that was often near even if the buck only slept away the time he was there. So the silent male had a voice now, and it seemed... caring? Can't be. A vine scratched the ground in frustration, and the beast made a hissing growl.
“It's my turn to play, my turn to keep him entertaining me! ”
The tone had changed, and the paws pulled the small body closer as a sign he wouldn't give it away.
---------
Ebony3:
Even if the shadow creature had no bones, no joints that made him move, a cracking noise rose from the mass of vast darkness he was made of. The neck was straightened from the crooked position it was held in as it murmured bittersweet words into the floppy ear of the buck's physical self. It was like a portal of its own, whatever he told the small male's body, it was passed to his mental self that the Nightmare had stolen some time ago already. The whispers were soon disturbed, as something out of nowhere spoke on his words, making them fade as he listened to the sound.
Finally it showed itself, looking heavy and like a shadow herself. A headtilt. Oh, it seemed even these kind of critters were concerned about the cripple in his claws. A smile, as if a polite one.
“I did not really plan to stay. I am only here to prove my point to this wretched little piece of nothing. His presence here is also ending soon enough... And the forest will not miss his rotting body on its grass, on its roots or stones. It is mine now. ”
A possessive movement of the vines, hugging the body like a child would embrace its beloved teddy bear. The Nightmare had no idea how this had turned into a need for him. He had received some damage already, and he could not afford an endless amount of it.
“Find your own toy... ”

And now I will be off and return tomorrow ~
The first flowers of the spring were blossoming. A promise made a good while ago not yet broken.. and broken it wouldn't be. Heavy steps, both soft and hard. A sharp sniff of the air, the stink the black bull had been following.. A familiar stink on a familiar scent. Senses took the beast to a less familiar sight, which would make the heavy steps silence down.
A short moment of brainwork; a reflection it was not. An unfamiliar oddface. But it was not the source of the stink, unlike the lifeless furball in it's grip. Was it a new foe, a new challenger? A new fool giving it a try and possess the little buck..? Gaze lingered on the motionless child.
A wave of stinging disappointment..
“I asked you to stay out of trouble..”
“..and now you've got a parasite on your back.”
The old bull approached. The ground held footprints of many souls who had visited there before him, and it was not left unnoticed. Neither was the marks on the creature's black skin.. items, some just cracks. Had someone been fighting the creature already? There was marks on the ground from something what had been left near Nidhem. It couldn't be a corpse, no, the stink wasn't quite similar to one.
What had the stupid child gotten himself into? A twist of a neck, a teethgrap of something from the long tail of his own.
A large dead butterfly was placed on the ground. The beautiful white thing he once had gotten from the buck himself.. The buck who would now need it more than he did.
“You are not the first foe to try and do whatever you think you are doing here. I hope you realize it, slime.
Just like the others, you will be going down.. and many will find pleasure in the sight of that.”
A doe stepped through the graves, approaching the dark beast warily. She recognized it's captive... she had seen the small buck from a distance a couple of times. A few paces from the nightmare she halted. Echosong glared at the coal black creature. "Let him go."
( Just one last - late, sorry about that - reply from me. ^^' )
Again Illrose tossed her antlers, another almost trumpet sounding snort escaped through the mask as she continued forward, seemingly pushing the black creature back without even touching him. And the thing that kept her going was she sight of her nephew wriggling in the creature's grasp, as if he was trying to break free. So it could seem he wasn't dead after all? Illrose's ears were still pinned to her neck, the smile was almost bloodthirsty and her pale eyes had a dangerous shine to them. Her lips parted as she was ready to say more, push the creature back even more with her words, but when a crack suddenly opened in his neck it silenced her - but only for a brief moment. But whatever she was about to say was replaced by one, single word as she realized the 'bleeding' creature was going to flee. "No!" With a roar Illrose threw her body forward, but as she did, the creature had already vanished, melted into the darkness and disappeared. Illrose scanned the shadows with fierce eyes, but the creature was gone - for now. The large female would continue to search for it, but if that didn't lead to anything, she had at least been able to wound the creature.
The forest had been silenced after many provocations the shadow had gotten. No more could he linger in darkness and not be seen, as the white openings, items and cracks told the truth of him already having others resisting his idea of fulfilling the act of stealing the small thing he believed to be so insignificant to this place.
Then, from the far distance, a thud. Another. It was like heartbeat. As they got closer and louder, the beast awakened from the sleepless slumber he had formed while sitting, holding the buck made of messy fur and pointy things. His gaze washed over the surface of the ground before fixating into Nidhem. It was almost like... he would be waking, making a small movement with every step, every heartbeat he did not have. Once the beast lifted his gaze, the massive black creature was already there, staring. Its white eyes standing out like the Nightmare's wounds. His grip thightened, holding the buck still as the faint movement he made got the Nightmare restless, unable to believe the cripple's body still had any willpower left. It was the snake's presence, no doubt. The worst opponent he had in this situation.
Looking at the black bull, the irritation grew. This one... this one was the only thing he had never gotten erased from the buck's mind, no matter how he tried, no matter how many dreams he had crushed. Even with all hope lost, there was still a wish inside the cripple to see the spring. To see the flowers and butterflies, waiting for the bull's return.
“You... ”
A headshake with a growl the Nightmare was up on its legs, the vines quickly grabbing the brown body and tying knots on its legs, stopping the squirming.
“You weren't supposed to come back! All my hard work... and now he think's he'll be able to run to you again. Damn you! I'll quench that cursed feeling in his heart, I WILL CRUSH IT!”
With the enraged hoarse yell the Nightmare took a step, heading for the pure white butterfly. Even if he knew how big of a threat this snake was, he did not believe his might would be beaten. A rear, smoke and vines following as its crooked legs stomped on the dead butterfly.
It did not break. It did not bend. Instead a burst of light, cracking his legs and travelling right into the middle of his chest, the butterfly carving itself into him. Even more fierce the Nightmare let out the shriek of empty pain, for a moment all of his black mist disappearing, leaving him naked.
A look at the black bull, a spooked and hurt one, before the Nightmare was off with its gaping wound, hiding deeper this time to reconsider this idea. And for the first time in long time... Nidhem had a glimpse of something nice, something peaceful. Maybe he'd get back home.
-------------
Echosong:
He had already started to take notes who visited. Was it a friend, a foe, or nothing but a stranger pushing their nose into something it did not belong into. The spiked neck turned with the head, vines flowing in the air as his endless gaze looked at the newest visitor. Again a stranger who had not visited any dreams, but still seemed concerned about the buck.
He had grown weaker, now only sitting and from there giving an indifferent tone to his voice as he hissed.
“He would not go very far if I did, critter. He's nothing but a... a cripple that he is. ”
No, no more of these critters and their words, their feelings. This began to get unbearable...
-------------
Snow, thank youuuuuu ;u; ♥ Can't wait for Nid to meet auntie again now.
Kurami stepped forward with muscles tensed; the words from the creature twisted the stag’s stomach as disturbing images entered the male’s thoughts.
"Your turn to play? Who are you exactly?...Nidhem isn't someone you can just toy with. Release him."
Once again Kurami recalled the brief but dear memories he had of Nidhem.
"I have never seen you before, and I have never heard of you either. I may only know a few of those that are dear to Nidhem, but I am sure that you are not one of them. I'm sure you do not know the warmth that the little buck brings upon every greeting, I'm sure you do not know the joy of seeing him play and I am sure you do not know the feeling of being able to watch over him as he sleeps soundly curled up next to you. Someone like you who thinks you can 'play' with his body like a toy, you clearly have no understanding of how much he means to others in this forest. He is NOT yours to take for yourself, now RELEASE HIM!"
---------
The creaking of none existent vertebrae made the fur on the back of her neck raise higher. Caught the expression the shadow's face shifted to. A head tilt and a smile...mmm...a polite one even. Time had taught her many lessons, all hard. Flattery gave no cause to trust, if the beast thought she would let down her guard he was wrong. The twisted smile fell from her face like it had never existed. For a moment the face held no emotions. Then the features rearranged themselves in to a slight smile, much more sincere then the earlier one.
"Good." Lilith's voice was no longer that of a snake's although a hint of hiss remained. "What point is that?" For the second statement however, She agreed with the creature on that point. Soon the sorry buck's presence would probably fade. "True enough." She shifted then, fixing her eyes on the dilapidated deer. "Yet, the forest will miss him, the friends and family will certainly. Even as you call this deer a nothing, you neglect to see that everything even him has a use." With that she stepped forward towards the shadow. "Even in death will true use be found. It's rotting body may provide food for some predator, bones can be made into tools, fertilizer for the forest. It will help the flowers grow, butterflies fly and the trees grow tall. What we take from the earth is returned. In this sense everything has worth, every nothing is something." She was directly in front of it now. Slowly and easily she stepped to his side and sat.
Amusement flickered across the scared face as the nightmare hugged the body closer. It did not take a genius to figure out the two where still connected somehow. The smile grew as a harsh chuckle bubbled out of her. "I have no need of toys..."
—
Oh, I'm just a girl, trying to find a place in this world.
A pause. The way this thing questioned him...the challenge was evident in its voice, its posture. But why? He closed his eyes for a moment when he felt the air shift across his face with the shadow's laugh, causing an unexpected chill. Another moment, and his eyes opened, their quivering at a minimum as he stared.
"It would ruin my day to know I've left the little one here, without a word or thought."
He felt his words grow in truth as he said them; the guilt from any lack of action would linger after him for days, clinging like those dreaded shadow-vines. With a bit more resolve this time, he took a deep breath and another step forward.
"I want to help you," the white buck muttered to the entangled stranger as he approached, ignoring the stronger smell of death, those dark lifeless eyes, the shifting, suffocating darkness all around them. "How? If you can even hear me...." It seemed like folly, speaking aloud to such an unresponsive deer. But Ambrose's strange and sudden sense of purpose put him in sort of a daze that left him with perhaps a lack of better judgement.
Another command. The Nightmare would not be phased by that. The cold stare stayed still as the smoke was the only thing moving. Still as he was, he had more time to listen. Those were words that he could not have a choice over if he listened to them or not. They were strong, silencing the Nightmare even if he could have disagreed to every word. He had once been dear to the buck. That was before the Nightmare had grown bitter, selfish like his 'host.' It was what had started his hate towards the dreaming cripple grow, and caused this mess.
The words were becoming too much. Too much good, too much heart put into them. Ugh, it made him feel sick in his non-existant guts. The way the command was repeated louder, got the Nightmare to drag himself up and slightly away, staring at the male before snarling, feeling how slowly something was forming... Another crack, travelling across his vines under him. The snarl grew into a hissing roar, before he slowly backed away to the pit behind his resting place.
“That will remain to be seen... How the forest plays its part... ”
The beast had received another hit.
--------------
Ebony3:
The master of dark dreams grew restless in this stranger's constant flood of words. What made her push further when she was not the forest herself, not even familiar with his victim. He was nothing for this specific critter that claimed Nidhem was something for others. A snort, trying to shake away the words.
“This thing here has no family, friends leave and the forest only gets laid on and eaten by these needle teeth. ”
The fight was becoming useless. He was clearly being tired out by words here. Even if the stranger did no prove Nidhem to be exactly important for her, the talk was getting the forest on her side. There really was places where the buck loved to lay his head, where he curled for the night and where he found the biggest butterflies.
It was getting quite unbearable to have one lingering close for so long. it felt too threathening, and the vines grabbed the buck even tighter. If the small thing would have been properly alive, he would have gotten suffocated.
“Begone then, leave us... This is not for sharing. The earth can't make me give my prize away. ”
-------------
Momo:
The pure vast whiteness was beginning to get the Nightmare anxious. It was a frail and weak looking critter but still it came so close... He could only watch as his trophy was being spoken to, leaving his mighty self completely out from it all. He was simply baffled. How did he dare...
The way the white male was directing his speech straight at Nidhem, got a small movement out from him. A simple twitch of a head, maybe something like an ear flick. The white did not need to really do much more than... care? Care that the cripple was held as a prisoner. A stranger who sacrificed his time to look at him, speak to him and wishing him good things. It brought warmness into the cold body.
Realizing this, the Nightmare grew irritated. His mist thickened to hide away the buck, and the massive spiked head came low to block him completely out of the pale male's sight.
“Go away, menace. You're hurting my eyes. ”
It did not matter if the Nightmare got the buck off. The good will had already done damage to the evil being, hiding away in its skin, burning another piece of him.

Sorry if these replies seem sloppy. I am reaaaaaaally tired today. :'D
EDIT// Updated the picture again. He's getting more white BD
The dusky brown stag stares at the small, limp, broken body before him.Donovan had seen the buck in the distance throughout the time he was here, never knew him personally...But surely he did'nt deserve this? Then again, what did he know? This small male could have had many faults...But no ones perfect, even Donovan knows that...He also knew that, whatever this thing that was guarding the little male,.It's counteneace seeming to radiate misery, was a threat and a menace,a danger to this realm.
His gaze then stares hard into the dark being, pale, yellow eyes glinting with a challenge."I don't care whatever he's done...Every creature deserves a second chance...Let him go,vile slime!"
Ah, there--movement?? Ambrose's ears and plumed tail perked up hopefully, but then...his sight of the smaller one was lost. Tail and ears drooped once more as he turned his gaze up to the Nightmare. Those words; an insult? Well, either way they stung, and the buck quietly turned away with a sigh....not much more he could do, really. But then his forehoof brushed against something. Peering down he was just able to discern a dried flower through a brief gap in the mist, as if someone had left it there....and nearby, what looked like insect wings, blurry but pale and lovely. Here and there, little things scattered on the ground. Gifts. With a final wide-eyed glance behind him at the shadow he pulled one of the small sprigs of purple flowers from his own mane, a loose white strand tangled around it. He let it fall to the ground. With a barely-whispered "Blessed be you, little one," Ambrose gracefully stepped away, love in his thoughts lingering with the silent prisoner.
She drew closer to the shadowy creature, stepping intently through the tall grass along the edges of the graves. "Better a cripple than dead, thing." The dark-furred doe had a hostile edge to her voice.
{I know the Nightmare ran off but damn it I needed to reply. Sorry!}
It was a struggle to keep her eyes directly fixed on the great mass of shadow, all tendrils and darkness. The doe did look away once or twice, though her ears stayed utterly fixed.
She knew death, and she knew what happened to corpses. It seemed to be a forgotten fact for most that Talla had her own wings once, and that ravens did not browse selectively on vegetation. Death, in its most peaceful form, did not trouble her terribly. She would mourn and miss them, but be accepting. When her dear friend Vilnius had died she had laid beside his corpse for a long while before leaving his side for the last time. It was the painful deaths of those she loved that troubled her, and when things felt... wrong. When Lume had taken to consuming more meat than his body could handle, and when Nidhem had gotten so dreadfully ill and this creature had taken him.
A step was taken back, for those he took forward. Her breath brought small shudders, and her words echoed with them, "N-nidhem isn't s-s-selfish," and the doe shook her mask lightly so that the feathers attached to it to it would catch the creature's attention. "O-one wh-who gives g-gi-gifts is n-not selfish." The memory of receiving the feathers flashed through her mind - how sweet Nidhem had been. She treasured them.
Though, confusion lit her dark brown eyes. It was... afraid? ...Of he- the butterfly? His words made her flinch and tremble, expecting an attack. She was dreadfully frightened by the creature, which reminded her of Mr. Sanguine, Ren, and other such monsters that had hurt her. Instead, she saw it flee as if the bright butterfly brought agony to look upon. A desire to follow was present in the small blue doe - and after a moment she managed to move forward only to see it dig and disappear into the shadows.
One can't hunt down a shadow. For a moment, she felt lost. She had failed to free Nidhem's body, and that weighed on her. A minute was spent standing, staring in to the shadows hopelessly before she left, a destination in mind. It didn't take long to get to the Old Oak, the last place she'd been with Nidhem. Her little blue form entered through one of the gaps, brushing along the familiar bark. Virtually untouched, the sheepskin was there. Her ears pricked and a little idea formed.
Later the doe returned, the prettiest dead butterfly that she could find gingerly held in her mouth - she'd seen how fragile they were, even when dead. Lowering herself down gingerly, she placed the bug on the sheepskin. It looked startling like the blue Atvana butterfly, and she nodded to herself. She'd visit the sheepskin regularly, the little doe decided. Additionally, she resolved to find that vile creature again and tell it just how important Nidhem was, no matter how much she stuttered.
They come and go. Every and each one of them demanding the same thing. It was like a voice in the Nightmare's head, a continuing command even if he was alone. A truly disturbing sound.
The skull with the brown fur could have made the Nightmare fooled to think it was someone else, but with a quick look he only saw a stranger. Still he dared to doubt the power what plain strangers held in their actions and words. And there it was again, the command. It made the Nightmare stumble up with his already cracked legs, still standing strong even if his body had gotten so many hits. and again there was another one. The dark lord's mind was surely weakened by the continuing demands to release his prey that was dangling under him, loose vines slithering on the messy fur, always finding new spots to grab.
“Why do you critters care so much, it messes up my plans, my grand prize! ”
He did not even want to fight with the same words, the repetition was killing him. A moment was spent looking at the stranger, gazing, huffing cold black smoke before he grunted, turning away to block the demand.
“Leave us alone already, damned critters... ”
Another one had managed to weaken his defenses.

Yes you did it right, thank you for the participation ;u;

Momo:
Like we already discussed, Ambrose is the sweetest sweetbutt ever and he kicked Nightmare's ass like a badbutt he is. ♥
------
Echosong:
The female's approach was taken as a threat, and with the tone of voice she used the Nightmare was feeling pressure put onto him even more. He needed to get this thing away. The body in his hold was pulled into the darkness of his body, hardly seen from outside. His position was getting tense, ready to get up and hide once again.
“Shut it, critter. I do not need you telling me how he should be handled. Go away. ”
------
Ammy:
I love Talla so much, she's so strong and sweet and awesome at the same time. ;n; ♥
Thank you so much for the great replies, especially this last one. It's just amazing how she can make a big evil thing go scaredy-cat and run away. Talla made a grand job. Niddy will be having good dreams over this ♥
Lilith caught the restlessness the nightmare sent out. Oh yes, she could sense it, smell it and even see it. The snort from the creature made black tipped ears flick back. The words the thing spoke seemed to reach down inside of her. They were true, all of them. Maybe not the bit about needle teeth but rest held all her thoughts. The smile disappeared and the face grew troubled for the first time. She knew that feeling all to well.
"Yes he has no family and it's true friends leave. His haven't yet though, only the blind couldn't see that... they haven't left him yet.
Her gaze drifted towards the poppy flowers growing a few feet away. The reason why Lilith had stayed so long by the nightmare was not known to her. Perhaps it was connected to why she kept the little fawns company when they were asleep and alone. The reason she sought out those who needed help. It was something she needed as much as they did. Someone to watch over them, keep them company when no one else was. The little buck needed her and she answered the only way she knew how.
Red eyes closed as she reached out. Lilith's mind opened and stretched, looking for the little's thoughts. Something bushed against it, barely a whisper. Didn't know if it was the ink besides her or the small one under it. This hurt, years of disuse made it hard for her. The memory she chose to send had stayed with her for so long that it was a part of her. The first time the doe had seen flowers. Such a simple memory, such a strong one. How those little poppies had flickered like tiny torches atop that grave. In a world of gray they were a shock to her. Back when she was a god, so long ago other memories were almost lost. She remembered coming back to that place to find them withered and gone, a little doll among the branches. The memory given she withdrew back into the safety of her own mind.
Eyes opened and Lilith looked at the nightmare for the last time. "This is my home. I will not leave. Have you ever stopped to realize he's still a part of you. Look how you hold him close, you haven't left him yet."
Then all attention was focused on the little cripple.
"I have a gift for you little, it may not look like much. This doll I've held dear for thousand years. She once brought happiness to someone long ago. I hope she does the same for you."
With elegant slowness Lilith reached into her web and pulled out a small worn doll and placed it very close to the nightmare's form. Nothing much to look at, the colors were faded and gray.
—
Oh, I'm just a girl, trying to find a place in this world.
This was no doubt the longest argument he had gone through here. It was tiring to fight against words when he was so used to win the cripple by his own talk. Nidhem could never get his true thoughts out, and that meant immediate win for the Nightmare.
His black figure and gaze were still, eyeing at the stranger silently and trying to keep his whip like tail from swinging from the frustration. The last words directed at him made his head twitch, tilting to the side as a mumble was everything that came out.
Then he was being ignored, it seemed? He could see her drawing close, and his vines retreated, still the strongest ones holding the small bonehead. The words got the Nightmare anxious. No. Not another thing to be given...
“G-get away! ”
It was almost like he stuttered just like the buck himself did so often. It was too late to escape after the doll was put close, and in a second it was swallowed by the black smoke, pulled into him before it began to glow brightly, cutting its way through the vast darkness to create another crack. The buck made a simple movement of trying to kick with his single front leg, but was soon held back by the tendrils. The Nightmare was held still by pure shock, only swinging his head and tail in agony, before he could get up and finally leave the stranger, finishing their negotiation.

Thank you so much for the wonderful participation ♥
Welcome, that might have been the most fun I've had on here! It gave me an opportunity to show Lilith's creepy side. Hope the nightmare is defeated soon.

Oh, I'm just a girl, trying to find a place in this world.
The stag huffed with anger and with a hint of surprise that he'd managed to get the creature to back away. Though now he felt that there was little he could do, he had told the creature his deep thoughts about Nidhem. Now Kurami was powerless.
The stag backed off, he had tried to help and the creature did react to it. Now all he could do was hope that others in the forest will act with more powerful memories to rip apart the being that grasped Nidhem so disgustingly.
This is just...absolutely amazing and stunning. I literally got chills through my body with the pictures and words displayed here. I am completely amazed!
Not sure I can participate since the posts above were made like, last year plus I think this Nightmare has been defeated and the story is still going on lol wish I came to this earlier. This looks exciting! ^^'''
Overall I did read some of the RPs and I must say, this is the most interesting plot I have seen on TEFc, yet! Keeping track of it from now on.
The creature's expression
"Why shouldn't I?" Used, broken...terrible things to say about another. The buck furrowed his brows and turned his unsteady gaze onto the shadow. "There's no reason to neglect..." The thing's constant movement distracted him, and he lost his words. It felt too familiar, disturbing. Instead Ambrose gulped and took a shaky step forward toward the entangled stranger, head slightly ducked in fear of the smaller one's captor.
(-rolls all over new page- HAH)
Kurami stood suddenly to the
"Who..do you think you are..to call Nidhem your little prize..?
The stag was nervous, confronting someone was never his strong point but this scene was too unpleasant to back away from. A mixture of disgust, fear and rage made Kurami hold his ground and stare at the creature directly with hackles high across his back. At this point he was unsure on what to do. Aside from looking big and attempting to intimidate, actually attacking the creature may put Nidhem in more danger. Reasoning with the creature seemed to be the only option if it was even possible.

Gah... hope that text is readable ;-;
For hours she had watched it.
You don't.
I will reply to these later
Momo: An unsure male.

A short moment of brainwork; a reflection it was not. An unfamiliar oddface. But it was not the source of the stink, unlike the lifeless furball in it's grip. Was it a new foe, a new challenger? A new fool giving it a try and possess the little buck..? Gaze lingered on the motionless child.
A wave of stinging disappointment..

HB: The forest had been
The forest had been silenced after many provocations the shadow had gotten.
Damn you! I'll quench that cursed feeling in his heart, I WILL CRUSH IT! ”

Snow, thank youuuuuu ;u; ♥ Can't wait for Nid to meet auntie again now.
Kurami stepped forward with
"Your turn to play?
He is NOT yours to take for yourself, now RELEASE HIM!"

better to read now :3
The creaking of none existent
A pause. The way this thing
LostintheEcho: Another
Another command.

She drew closer to the
{I know the Nightmare ran off
It was a struggle to keep her eyes directly fixed on the great mass of shadow, all tendrils and darkness.
Additionally, she resolved to find that vile creature again and tell it just how important Nidhem was, no matter how much she stuttered.
wingeddeer: They come and
They come and go.

Go away. ”

Lilith caught the
"Yes he has no family and it's true friends leave.
This was no doubt the longest
