Vilnius

Thump.Thump.Thump
Within the soft shadows of the forest, nestled withing the great roots of a tree the soft thrumming of heartbeats came.

His body nestled easily within them, a small pool forming beneath him now as the hearts nestled among the tines of his antlers continued pumping blood.

His mask, once a jet black orca's, was now thick with old blood and red, flaps hanging to the sides as if he wore some sick mockery of the whistling mask.

The stench of drying blood and decay rolled off of the creature in waves, stronger when he moved.
His eyes of amethyst remained wide, though he seemed to be relaxed.

----

Chopin

Dipping his head to scratch behind an ear, the composer paused.
And then, he began.

A soft rat-a-tat-tat as he drummed his hooves against the low rock of the playground, a small song, coupled with the singing of the birds and far off croakings of frogs.

His blue pelt seemed to shine, golden notes settled within the dark fur seeming to dance and flow as his lithe muscles rippled beneath the fur.

The stag jumped a bit at how quick she was to chirp and rush off, tilting his head.
When she returned to place them upon his tines he sighedin content, glad to have them back, and one by one to removed them, cleaning them gently before setting them back in their places.

"Many of these were payment"

he looked up.
"If they stop beating and their masters die, the broken deal and master's death will be my fault and mine alone"

He shook himself.

"I steal the hearts of the cruel"

"But those who have been given willingly"

"Are mine to protect"

I'm sorry to hear that ;A;

I'm sorry to hear that ;A; *huggles*

"It seems like something honorable, holding the hearts of others by yourself."She said, blinking.

"What's it like, knowing that you would be responsible for the death of some, Vilinius...?"

"I would be glad to see he

"I would be glad to see he world burn" he replied, "But the heart is something, that always seems to hold a glimmer of light. though its master may turn a blind eye to it. And so, I protect that light."

he blinked back slowly.
"I have few problems with killing, if it were intentional" he looked down at the puddle around them.
"I am a surgeon, I have lost lives before" he looked up once again "But if I kill on accident, there is still a sense of remorse there, small and weak though it may be"

"I understand. I have

"I understand. I have killed...but never lost lives. I've never been responsible for a life in that way" She clicked and tapped, coating her hoof in it. She brushed her hoof on her shoulder.

"Not yet at least."She half-closed her eyes and watched the hearts beat in the tines.
Sonata's picture

"Hearts are precious things.

"Hearts are precious things. Not to be crushed" he shook his head, watchin her.
"hearts pulse beat and break. But to crush a heart is to destroy your own" he licked his lips slowly.
"And I treasure my heart, broken as it is"

"I'd never crush those organs

"I'd never crush those organs upon your tines, if that is what you meant," She said reassuringly.

"Or eat them." She twitched an ear and flattened them close to her head.

"I....trust you" he stated hesitantly.
"they do, die, from time to time, age...everything dies in time" he smiled "I'll keep you in mind the next time one does, if it would still interest you even after it had ceased beating"

"To be honest, I dislike

"To be honest, I dislike ingesting that particular organ. Why?

It hurts me to even consider it,"
She flicked some more of the crimosn.

"Understandable" he nodded,

"Understandable" he nodded, tracing patterns now.
"To consume the heart of another would completely destroy the thing that makes us...human...I use that term very lightly" he smiled, teasing.
"And I do not mean that in a literal way"

"I don't mind the taste, at all, though I do not go out of my way to taste it" he laughed softly, "I merely wear it"

Shut her eyes and bared her

Shut her eyes and bared her teeth in a *XD* grin "Yeah...wearing it...I'd rather wear it too," She said, stifling a crack of laughter and covered her mouth. Once she managed to control herself, she bent her knees to stand up and stretch,

A hoof slipped in the liquid and she collapsed over herself face first in the blood.

"Oh..well that's just great...brilliant, Joro. This shit stains!" She growled to herself, trying to brush it off and she had a fit of laughter.

The normally serious and

The normally serious and rather...gloomy, stag, laughed, loudly, watching the doe slip, standing up. "It takes practice" he shook his head, "You have to learn, to use your hooves as daggers" he moved, avoiding the spots of sunlight.
"it will come off, eventually, with time and water"

She tried to get back up and

She tried to get back up and came crashing down again
"Oh, oh that's nice, laugh at someone covered in heart-blood, yeah yeah."
"Aughh! G-give me a minute," She said frantically, standing up and digging her hoofs in clumsily. She took a wary step and crashed again, this time staying down. She sniffled.

The stag stifled his laughter, stepping over easily to the doe's side.
"it's...difficult at first" he mumbled.

he gave her a gentle push with a bloodied shoulder, gently pushing her to cleaner grass and stepping away before he had time to bleed all over again.

"I taint the things near me red" he chuckled.
"you shall have to get used to it"

It kinda feels nice...after accepting that ya fell in a pool of blood." She said as she shook her fur.
"I'm considering letting it stain at the moment...It'd certainly put off enemies,"
Sonata's picture

"it does...usually" he

"it does...usually" he shuddered, turning his head to lick a small wound on his shoulder from the earlier scuffles. His eyes softened, Clover-flower purple for a moment rather than cold steele, though they snapped back a second later.
"and false friends" he shook himself, "Those who would stay, despite first appearences, are the only ones worth keeping by your side"

"Hmm, Agreed" She murmered.

"Hmm, Agreed" She murmered. She sat down in the soon-to-be bloodied grass and licked her hooves. Not for the taste, but to clean them.

She couldn't stop staring at her raven locks, now a sickly red from her crash. She squeezed out as much blood from her hair as she could. She sighed and quickly turned her head away, spitting out blood and grimacing.

"I don't understand why practically half of the forest seems to be against you," She said, unable to keep herself from bringing it up.

"Will you let her....near

"Will you let her....near us?" She said while looking deep into her eyes with confusion, as she watched from a tree.

"Because everyone fears what

"Because everyone fears what they do not know" he shook himself again.
"Differences challange what people know...and most do not like that" he looked up, watching the clouds go by.
"Never, have I taken the heart of someone, who was not undeserving, without permission"
he looked back.

"but that does not matter. When they look at me, they see a bloodied theif, one to be feared"

"when I look at my own reflection, I see someone who lost the light of their own heart long ago"

"when some see me, they see relief, a promise of easeing pain"

He looked to his doe.

"yes. she has been kind to us. Even I, who have done nothing grand for her."

The queen saw the doe and

The queen saw the doe and rose to her feet, stepping back, returning her gaze and she craned her head back.
"Only if you wish it. I will not stick around if you do not wish me to, Bones of Vilinius," She said softly.

"I wish for you to stay just

"I wish for you to stay just as much as mine scent would, if he has befriended you then so be it, do not think for a second that you have gained my trust. I shall keep my distance." She said, eyes empty with no emotion as she stepped forward with what seemed a slow uncertain step.

The stag flicked his ears,

The stag flicked his ears, moving to stand nearer to the bone pelted doe, eyes softening once more as he looked down at her before hardening again though he smiled at Joro.
"What do you see, when you look at me?" he asked slowly.

She gave a gurgling laugh at this, and nestled herself back down."Likewise, Bones of Vilinius,"

An ear twitches in attempt at

An ear twitches in attempt at dissuading the flies that buzzed persistently about the stag’s head, but it did not remain distracted long, swiftly returning to its upright stance. All attention targeted the strange beast in the shadow and the dark lady that accompanied him. Darcy knew of the bloody trails, and had followed once or twice, but only now had he dared to stay long enough to overhear the heart-keeper’s voice, difficult as it proved to be. The insects gathered in frenzy, drawn by the smell. Such a disappointment to find no carcasses. Did they rest upon the disgusting hearts? The stag dared not venture close enough to look, remaining hidden in his own shadow. He was no stranger to stalking. His ego, if he had one, might even boast to perfecting the art. Almost.
He slunk further behind the trunk of the concealing tree as another approached, his amber eyes burning bright with interest as he studied the unusual interactions. Life had become far too mundane…

@Shiori: The doe looked at

@Shiori:

The doe looked at the amber eyed stag as he stood behind a nearby trunk with a curious, yet caucious look she asked. "...Why are you standing behind that tree? It makes me wonder if you are going to attack or simply observe us. I have had way too many deer come near us today, I dont wish to bother with another one. If you dont have anything to offer simply go off on your own way, Im shure there are other, more interesting creatures to look at other then us."
As she shifted her head slightly to the side , the doe moved even closer to the other two, one to be exact. There she stood.

Observing. Watching. Waiting.

She flicked her gaze toward

She flicked her gaze toward the stag."A friend and nothing more," She chided.

She giggled, ending her fit with a growl. "You don't have to worry about me thinking about you in ways that would upset Sad. I have a mate," She said to the stag, flicking her gaze toward the doe as she said her last words.

Sonata's picture

"oh I didn't mean" he flushed

"oh I didn't mean" he flushed under his bloodied mask before looking to Sad, then to the buck behind the tree.
He tilted his head slightly, weary, wary, curious, he was in no shape to fight but if he had to he could run.
"No sense in hiding" he shook his head, not liking flies about, not letting them touch his hearts.
"I may look bad, but the chances of you being in danger are slim" he actually smiled.

"come on out then, so my Bones might calm down" he tilted his ears.
"I can hear your heart fluttering"

"Oh dear, well then forgive

"Oh dear, well then forgive my misconception. Must have slipped my mind," She said, rubbing an eye and resting her head in the blood.

I HOPE I'VE BEEN SPELLING HIS NAME RIGHT DX

pfft nope. for some reason I got the hunch that it was "Vilinius" not "Vilnius"....

His eyes opened wider behind

His eyes opened wider behind his mask as the skeletal deer turned his way and spoke, easily figuring him out. Then the bloodied one spoke. Darcy shivered despite himself. Fool, he chided himself, pinning back his ears but accepting his reveal. Seems he wasn’t good at much of anything, anymore. He took a single step from the shadow, eyeing the others with great hesitation and a touch of fear before finding his voice, quiet and soft as it may be.
“My apologies…my intent was not ill,” he addressed them both, lost for words, but then his gaze focused on the doe and he managed a small smile, “I’m afraid I haven’t much to offer, no…and as for more interesting creatures? I find myself unable to believe it…”
His orange eyes returned to the blood-drenched beast, unable to keep off of him for long. His stomach turned.
Sonata's picture

((when I first made him for

((when I first made him for his original purpose I spelled it wrong too))

The stag's ears pricked, taking in the fear in the other's eyes.
"I may be wary" he flicked an ear "but I do not judge on appearence" he scracthed behind an ear, a clump of clotted blood falling away, showing the shining golden fur beneath it for a moment before the gap was once more covered.

"So long as I am not attacked, not approached too quickly. who am I to say what anyone's intent is?" he glanced down at Sad once more, rubbing a shoulder comfortingly against her.

Her mouth opened but no words

Her mouth opened but no words came , she had to think twice before saying anything as she didnt know what to say unless observing his stance, eyes, and tone of voice. With a small grin curling up her lips she asked once more.

"Why is such an experienced stag as you so nervous? It seems by your tone of voice that your unsure of us. As mine scent has stated, we do not wish you any harm if you do not give us any in return. Are you unable to take such scent?"

Eyes red and orbid like, focused on the stag that finally revealed himself.
Shiori's picture

He had always been a horrible

He had always been a horrible liar, and no doubt he was screaming his emotions loud and clear. The thought of that was nearly as unsettling as the sight and the smell of what he was ‘truly’ meant to be afraid of.
“I guess…you’ll have to take my word for it, sir. Surely you can see it?“ he held back a smile, acknowledging his own failure at secrets. Taking a deep breath he dared another step, resting his hoof in blood soaked grass. He glanced down in discomfort but did not withdraw.
“I don’t wish to judge you,” he began again, looking back to the doe, if only briefly, “but can you blame any for looking upon you the way I do? Hearts and blood belongs in chests and veins…or am I wrong?”

The queen rose to her feet as

The queen rose to her feet as well, her black orbs staring the newest visitor down, her lips pursed.
She shook her pelt to rid excess blood off(with hardly any avail) and grinned.

"Hmmph," She clicked.

She motioned to look at the

She motioned to look at the stag as he asked such question.

"Most dont judge me, they simply go on and assume. I cannot blame you nor any others for seeing us trough their eyes differently as we see them the exact opposite way. Not all belong to ones chest , such hearts that dont deserve to be in them chests go to mine scent, he keeps them safe from such unworthy creature as what you would call yourself, a stag was it?"

She shifted once more , trying to lay nearby her scent. As she did so, her skull slowly moved towards ones hoof in blood and whispered with a short smile on her face.
"Good night mine purpose."

Eyes shifted towards the other two as she said no words and simply gave a small emotion that was reflected in here eyes: uncertainty and confusion.

Good night everyone &hearts.
Ill respond tomorrow.

"and yet so many wear theirs

"and yet so many wear theirs upon their sleeve" he shook himself once more, noting how he moved closer, not concerned.
"I blame few, for little" he replied simply.
"I have only myself to blame, for how others gaze upon me" he licked his lips, making sure they would not clot together.

"My name, is Vilnius" he stated slowly.
"The bloody surgeon, the phantom cardiologist, I have been called many things"

Another scratch behind an ear before he lay down again.
"Surely they are safer upon my tines then within the chests I ripped them from."

He looked to his doe.
"Sleep well"
Shiori's picture

An elongated ear flicks

An elongated ear flicks again, then the other, his disturbance in the grass upsetting more winged vermin. He paid them little mind as they rested on the nose of his mask and the sides of his belly. They seemed drawn to the scars there, silly desperate creatures. He tensed a bit as the first doe rose, far more gracefully this time, and shook, sending blood droplets to cover everything nearby. He sighed inwardly with relief that he was not. He dismissed her disapproving glance, focusing instead on the other’s sleepy words. Hearts that don’t deserve to be in their chests… The stag winced, unable to remain from being empathetic to the statement. He stared upon one of the hearts stakes upon a bloody tine, imagining for a moment it was his. He could feel the pain in his chest. His soul screamed. No, come back. He shook his head violently, using the flies as an excuse, pricking his ears once more. Vilnius. He remained silent, slightly surprised that they all shifted to rest once more. He was not a threat, they must realize. He could almost laugh out loud.
“I wish I could believe that to be true in a first introduction, but excuse me if I am not so easily swayed. Evil has reared its many heads in this forest before, if one believes in evil. I guess I don’t consider myself among them…or do I?”
He paused a moment, staring off in thought at the pools of blood, his lips turned into a frown… then suddenly laughed, glancing away with shame.
“I apologize again. I’m a little…drunk you see. Hell it’s probably why I’m here at all. Me and blood are old friends…I am D. Forget the rest, just D.”

Against a thin tree not many

Against a thin tree not many paces away, a ghostly white rabbit's face leaned, slender neck curving gracefully to meet the weighty bulk of a stag's body.

It spoke with a tender voice and uttered few, simple words. As it did, lips hardly seemed to move, if at all,
Fine shade of red, sir.
