Hey guys, here is the e-mails and responses from me to Michael and Auriea on the events that went on. I thought you should know, especially those of you who use CSS.
Here's what you'll need to know:
"We have disabled css (and all HTML) on any new posts. People will have to use BBCODE to style new posts. Old posts with html/css will continue to exist so long as the user doesn't edit and save. Same goes for embeded videos. We may turn this stuff back on if there is no further problem."
So don't edit your CSS blogs for a while until Michael and Auriea decide to put CSS back up, or else you'll lose it. Your CSS will stop working if you edit your blog now. It will be a good idea to save your code, too.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Two others did the same.
We have blocked Caturday's account and are looking into disabling CSS,
which should remove the possibility to white-out pages. Apparently,
humans cannot be trusted with this technology and need to be oppressed.
Oh well.
Thank you for your concern,
Michael Samyn & Auriea Harvey.
Tale of Tales
Hi Chris,
We have disabled css (and all HTML) on any new posts. People will have to use BBCODE to style new posts. Old posts with html/css will continue to exist so long as the user doesn't edit and save. Same goes for embeded videos. We may turn this stuff back on if there is no further problem.
We've fixed anything "whited out" that we could find. The script you sent, while a good temporary band-aid, won't really solve the problem. If you run into things that are still whited out let us know as there is no way for us to search for individual instances.
thanks again for your help and support of TEF!
Auriea & Michael
Because of a troll, we must
May I please ask everyone to
Michael and Auriea are busy people and despite TEF's importance to all of us, it is a side project for them.
When there is someone trying to provoke a reaction, being outraged with their behavior only feeds them and encourages them to keep provoking. Putting on a straight face and waiting for them to wear themselves out is a good way to bore and be rid of them (or, in a rare chance, placate them to the point they want to behave to gain your attention).
It is a shame to lose access to your hard work. But TEF isn't about CSS. It's about our experiences in the forest and our time with each other. Our journals are a good way to keep track of that and for those of you who spend the time to make your css lovely, it is a kind of art. But it's not the heart of TEF. Your deer is not your CSS.
If someone makes it known they are a troll in this fashion in the future, please remember that we have the power to reject them not by attacking back, but by quietly and peacefully leaving them alone.
Be patient and win the battle with kindness and respect for yourself. Fight with pacifism.
Isn't that the kind of place this forest is?

For the most part CSS IS
I am not saying that it's not disabled or it IS disabled but worrying too much about the subject at hand is just going to put more stress than it is worth. I wasn't around for the majority OF this but I was reading a great deal about it from blogs and VIA contacts from friends of mine. It only takes one 'bad seed' so to say to stir up a hornets nest. Many times it is hard to ignore the person, and there are times when ignoring them just does not work at all. Sometimes ignoring someone actually provokes them more. Though yes, ignoring is often the best solution.
Either way, don't fret too much about this. CSS still seems to be intact (For the most part) so we can all go about our happy, joyful lives.

Hi there, Just to say thank
Just to say thank you for getting this sorted.I really appricate it. It's nice to see that the issue has been delt with. In all honesty i found CSS to hurt my eyes and it seemed an insult to the builders to change what they made.
Some times when people put their heart and soul in something it's best not to twist it to our own desires.
Hopefully people will have lernt from this.
Take care and all the best.
Wake up guys! This was not
This was not just down to one person! Others have been abusing CSS code to ruin blogs, and this isn't the first time it has happened!
And guys, when someone like Caturday does come along, don't join in like some of you did and do what they do! He/She wasn't the only person posting My Little Pony pics, was they?
I don't know what has happened to this community site, I really don't! It never used to be like this!
And yes, M&A are too busy to fix things, so it would be easier for them just to close this place down!

I like the idea of moving our bios offsite, because then other people can see them too and if the stumble on one, then they could find TEF.
I was thinking we could have a rule to link to here if you move them offsite.....
Or maybe we could all get "wetpaint" addresses so we can each have one container... like the "update"blogs people are making.
I plan on messing with that tonight.

I must confess I laughted out loud when I read that.
I have never been oppressed before? I hope it does not hurt.

Oh well, the cause of this mess was permanently delited, so I probably can never understand what was so annoying in there.
Still, I feel neither hate nor sorrow about blocking the CSS. This is only another disillusionment of my life. So I pretend that I never know about it and stay calm.
And I see that some people suggesting to put our bios offsite. Well, if someone find a place where we can use css without the fear that this story could happen again, I will be happy to join it.

I didn't say it was, we just moved on to that, but it did play a part in it, since some of Caturday's previous MLP posts had been whited-out so he/she made that blog to continue with the ponies!

I'm sorry guys. I really screwed everything up. This is all my fault.
Actually I think that is
You didn't screw anything up Quad. That jerk needed reporting.
It's such a shame that the
Quad this is not your fault!
But yeah, I’ve noticed the comments thing too. So now when you reply to a comment, you will actually reply to that comment, it will appear below it, slightly indented, instead of at the end of the queue like it used too. I like it, in that you can more directly respond to someone but at the same time, if it’s several pages back, it’s likely to be completely overlooked. I’ve been trying to comment to the main post instead once I figured out this was happening.
It's a pity how low some
Quad, you did the right
There is no need to place blame anywhere.
Just wondering.. everything
Let's say, potentially, we DID move our bios to another site if the CSS issue persists. Would people be willing to go off to another site simply to check another's bio? Would they be able to tell when it's updated? Or would it just be linked from a blank page on THIS site (aka a plain, flat bio with no coding, no text except for the name and whatever it takes to hotlink the bio itself onto that page, and maybe the updated info aka "journal updated" on this page so people tracking will know what to check)? I guess that'd work. The track page here was just so useful to see what was changed and when, etc, and I wasn't sure if other sites had a similar function. I'm used to MMORPGs that really don't have much forum activity, so I'm not quite sure how it works on other sites. It took me a little while to get used to TEF's layout too.
Kinda wanted to post here anyway just to track it and see what happens. But CSS has been working for me too, so far.. I've just been hesitantly throwing updates into my testing blog before I touch my bios.
Stop, Quad. >: You didn't

I admit I don't understand CSS and how it works, I had a lot of help from people. But if they can find a way to do this, that would be wonderful.
It's really all so frustrating that just one person can do what happened.
Quad, I repeat, this is not your fault. It's the work of someone else who had a ton of time on their hands and was very bitter about something, TEF related or not and decided to take it here.

True. I tend to forget that at times. Sorry.

Oh, and cool, comments are behaving themselves now. Yay!
Good to see the comment back
I also hope they find a way to disable css in comments only, that would have been great. :')
And no one should blame themselves for this, after all, we were many that wanted Caturday gone.
