The whole population of TEF should be able to play and feel like one big herd- or family.

By running herds you endanger the feeling of co-operation in the population. You get a Them-Versus-Us sort of deal.

The weekend-run event run by Ravyn called 'The Herd' is a different matter, if you've seen it pop up. It's open to all and the only way to tell if you're in the herd or not is if you're wearing the current Herd pelt. Which is nice, and it doesn't many rules, or formal ranks, and can be joined and left fluidly.

I saw another herd being formed here but it was more like a character club. Which is an idea I'm not so keen on, but I personally haven't looked into it, as my characters don't fit into the theme of a Misfit organization.

If you'd like to set up Herd-like roleplay, may I suggest Impressive Title? You're unlikely to find any players in the Forest that would be likely to join you, I'm afraid.

At the top left of the sidebar, the first set of links before your account name, is the link 'Search'. Type The Herd into the search bar, and the blog should come up quick. The info is updated there every time the Herd assembles.

The Herd

Starting herds is not disallowed, but it is generally looked down upon by many members of the community. In The Endless Forest you are allowed to participate in the game in whatever way you wish. The only resemblance to a herd that I know of currently is 'The Herd' that has already been mentioned. I agree with Ookani, in that the entire forest is a family.

I didn't mean to make you feel bad! I know you were just wanting to have fun, and you have every right to do what you want. There is nothing wrong with not have a herd, you will still have friends and make new ones all the time! And there isn't really a need for multiple 'herds' of the same thing, you can always join the existing one!

You don't have to limit yourself to a small group of people, that is the wonderful thing about the forest. There are always new people to see and get to know.
