having issues connecting (linux)

hi! sorry, i'm new. i'm trying to login, i've registered and all that, but i'm a little lost on the ingame side. i've gone to network and have clicked on connect, but it doesn't do anything for me. i'm running this on linux mint with wine, and i've done all the DLL install and setup stuff as per the faq. is the connect button supposed to open a browser window?

tiny update, i can run the

tiny update, i can run the settings menu on it's own (apparently???) and that shows me the news at least. so...??? (sorry, image is from discrod and for some reason it wasn't showing up when doing img src)

installed the 2009 version on

installed the 2009 version on the site, and while it at least tries to connect and shows people are online, i still can't log in. is there maybe a file i can put my login info into? otherwise i have 0 idea how to fix this.

I tried to get it to work too but I never got further either. (I was trying on a steam deck for reference) I also have no idea what I'm doing though, hahah.

i logged in on windows

i logged in on windows yesterday, and then for some reason, after being able to connect, my game crashed, and the connection screen looked the same... :/

connection is extremely

connection is extremely finicky for basically everyone. i'm not sure if it's possible to get the forest running on linux but you could join the discord and ask if anyone has tips: https://discord.gg/Md3kFXEU

for windows, which version of windows are you using? windows 11 causes more issues than windows 10 afaik, but even windows 10 has strange errors from one person to the next ... and what does your connection screen look like when you try to connect? the first link leads nowhere for me & i can see the second image but i dont rly understand the problem

if you're able to connect on windows and crash without an error, it's most likely because you tabbed off -- the game automatically closes when you minimize it, but if you go into the "control" section of the settings and uncheck the box that says "keep running in background", the crashes will stop

there are a few fixes for connection issues but if i understand correctly, you're having trouble logging in, not connecting, yes? could you give more detail abt your issue?
