If you play the game in a window (you can select this option in the game's menu), it might be easier to find who are the players by searching for their picto on the map (that you can find on this site, on the top right side), clicking it will redirect you to their account, and by browsing through their characters bio, you will probably find which of their deers you are playing with.

Xd Well, if they are active members of the community, all players aren't necessarily registered on tefc.

That said, don't worry too much, it was like this for me too at first. Try to keep interacting with others, just have fun, you can also observe how emotes are used and for what if you're still a bit lost with how to play and feel up to it.
