This is Hazel Deca, he's new to the forest though not by choice. A piebald at birth he felt a little outcast his whole life though took it in stride. He'd chase grasshoppers and follow his mother around like a good boy. They had been to a lot of places and he'd been warned of dangers in the woods; bears, wolves, and most importantly:
Humans.
It was in an open field that he heard the sound of thunder crash forward with no light and strike his mother down. Panic took hold and following the others through the woods, got lost, horribly and hopelessly lost.
It was dark, it was cold, he couldn't find his momma, no matter how much he cried out she wasn't near him. With tears streaming down his eyes and his throat worn down to muted calls, he took solace under a large tree in the dark.
The next morning he found himself in a part of the woods he'd never seen before, though the comforting smell of deer surrounded him, even if they smelled a bit different than he was used to. He got to his feet and set out looking for someone, anyone to help him. When he did finally see another deer, he ran up, bleating and grinning-
Until he saw their face. He stumbled, halted and cowered. He had never seen a deer like this before, not too far off where deer in wild pelts, faces that confused him and antlers he'd never seen!
At first he ran away, but slowly he'd found solace in the new forest. The deer here were kind if strange and, well who was he to talk? He was the strange one in his old herd! Hazel loves to chase the birds of the woods, keep in pace with the rabbits, and race anything that moves, weaving in and out of trees for fun. He likes to prance in the water and jump over the river till he finds the weeping stone.
When he goes to bed he takes up residence next to a headstone in the graveyard, if only to keep the memory of his mother alive, he knows it's not her but he'll still bring flowers to the headstone.
While he keeps a high head and a wide smile he is envious of the other deer in the woods who have a home to call their own. He feels out of place most times and is unsure what to do with himself now. He is flighty around new deer though is easy to open up to after that.
Here, he knows, is where he'll make his new life.
