[don't feel bad for me]

Letting a soft sigh pass her lips, she stooped down to pass beneath low branch. Her gentle breathing rose in little puffs, blending into the fog. The overgrown locks cascaded over her forehead, parting gently to let her see the path before her, as if that was even possible. Raising her gaze, she stopped. The path before her parted and both appeared to lead to nowhere.

Suddenly a shrill cry caught her attention. Whipping around, eyes wide, she tried ever so hard to see through the fog. It's getting stronger, she thought grimly as she turned her gaze back to the fork in the road. Two paths, two fates, one decision to make. Deciding to glance back one more time, she cautiously eyed her surroundings. There was a soft pounding that made her tense.

There was no time left. She scrambled, digging into the dirt as she bolted down the path. She could feel it nipping at her heels, egging her on. It could run faster, it was purposely staying just shy of her. She could see something up ahead, a light perhaps. And just as suddenly, it was there before her.

A dead end.

Fear egged her on as she scrambled, adrenaline pushing her to try to find any place to grip onto the cliffside. He was coming closer. Closing her eyes, tears threatened to fall as just as he plucked her off of the cliffside and tossed her to the ground. To him, she was weightless. She squeezed her eyes shut, body curled tightly.

Whywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhy

Her mind was racing, struggling to keep her breathing under control. But she knew that he wouldn't go away. He leaned closer to her, close enough that she could feel something. She was confused. What was he doing? A low, almost guttaral sound. She froze as she realized what he was doing; he was humming.

Please, passed her lips unwillingly.

There was silence before the screeching sound of laughter followed. Now she couldn't stop it, sobs racked her body as she trembled beneath him. She took a deep breath to calm herself before she tried the last thing she could to save herself.

Sing to me, like you used to,

Another pause before she could feel him smirk, then back away.

Sure thing darling,

She almost relaxed. Almost. Just before she felt a blow to the head. She could taste blood. The world spun dizzily around her as she struggled to focus, trying to get a glimpse of him. He looked the same. The shadow of him loomed closer. Her vision was darkening as she laid her head on the ground, her breathing slowing. Her eyelids closed just before she heard him speak one last time.

I'll make it hurt, like I used to,

Just an idea that popped into my head. I'm classifying it as a diary entry because it pertains to one of my deer but I thought if I included the last bit, it would've ruined the illusion that it was a human, which I was trying so hard to do, haha. Probably didn't do a good job but since I typed it up I might as well share it.
