Do mini deer keep their pelts?

Whenever i try to load my mini deer's old appearance with the peackock pelt it isn't there. Can anone tell me what's going on?

you need to do the twins

you need to do the twins trick

go to the twin statues
go to menu screen
while in menu screen make your deer stand up
sneeze off the mini spell
bow
load your set
push done and wait for the deer to turn white
