On the path to beta 2

Happy feast of All Saints everyone!

After the publication of The Viriditas Chapel of Perpetual Adoration in the context of our ongoing Cathedral-in-the-Clouds project, I am now again free to continue remaking of The Endless Forest. I'm very excited! Every bug that I fix is a step closer new expansions of the forest. I have such great ideas! Laughing out loud

Thank you all for your patience and support and your continued activity in our Forest! It's very encouraging.

We're in beta!

I'm very excited to be able to announce that the project to remake The Endless Forest with contemporary technology has reached the beta stage. This means that the game now includes all the features of the original, but still contains many bugs that need to be fixed. Backers have received a download link to the new build.

You can read a summary of the remake project on the development log.

Happy Easter!

On track for TEF II beta 1

I have suspended all my other activities to dedicate as much time as possible to the remake of The Endless Forst in Unreal Engine during this time of Lent. I'm happy to say that I have been able to stick to the schedule, after an initial few days of instant burnout that made me realize that I need to adapt my way of working to my age. This means that The Endless Forest Second Decade is now complete! Of course it will take several more months to iron out all the bugs. But I'm already making plans for expanding the game in a new Phase 4. Next week is dedicated to testing and building the first beta release to be published on Easter, when backers of the remake will receive a link to download the application.

Wish me luck! Smiling

Back on track with the remake

After much deliberating I cancelled the project that was keeping me from working on The Endless Forest remake. There's still a bunch of other things getting in the way but I can now again dedicate a good chunk of every week to working on the game.
This month my focus has been the environment changes that happen on feast days. I was able to resolve some technical issues relating to networking in an imperfect but acceptable way and have tracked down and implemented all assets.

Merry Christmas!

Hope you are all having a lovely time in these darkest days of the year. But as Auriea says: Winter is simply the time towards Spring. Every day will be longer than the previous day. The light is coming back!

Merry Christmas to all my dear deer!
Best wishes!

Delays

I'm afraid I have been a little optimistic. :_(

The commissioned project I am working on ran into some annoying technical problems that haven't been resolved yet.

And I wanted to start using a new version of Unreal Engine for The Endless Forest but I wasn't able to compile it from the source code. And this is required for building a dedicated server. So I will stick to the old version for now. Hopefully the source code will be fixed.

I hope you enjoyed Halloween this year! We certainly did. Even though I can't wait to do this in the remake!!

Anyway, Without being able to make any promises, I will try me best to free up as much time as possible for The Endless Forst. But I might also be traveling back to the old homeland this month since I haven't seen my parents or brother for almost two years, because of the pandemic.

I guess it's a good lesson in patience. :-/
