New deer - Blixt

Hey guys, I decided to make a new deer that will wear Quad's luchador mask. I just made him today so he's still a fawn, but I plan to wear the mask with the green pelt and I was thinking the peacock antlers but I'll probably do something different. He needs to be burly. If anyone else has an idea as far as the set goes, let me know!

His name is Blixt, which is a shortened name for Blixten. Oh, and take a look at his picto! Sticking out tongue

As far as personality, he'll probably be similar to the way I played Quad in this post - someone who is seclusive and watches from a distance. He may be played a little aggressive, but I don't know yet.

Update - 12/02/10 - I need to remember to make a bio for Blixt sometime.

Necklaces with charity funding! (please look)

Hey guys, what do you think about necklaces that half of the proceeds go to Tale of Tales and the other half go to a wildlife charity organization?

I'd need some help deciding on a few things about this:

1: Which charity should benefit? I've decided on the World Wildlife Fund, who look for solutions to problems in habitats and work to preserve them. They also are advocates in conserving the animals on the endangered species list. (One idea I have with them is what they call a symbolic species adoption). Maybe next time, if I do another batch of these, I could donate to the Defenders of Wildlife.

2: How much? $10 - $5 towards ToT and $5 to the charity per necklace. My thoughts were that if we could raise $25 from the necklace sales, I would add $25 of my own money to make it a $50 donation toward the charity. What do you think? I also haven't decided on shipping yet, either, but it would be very low.

3: Should there be a special name for this project? What do you think about the name "Twin Leaves Conservation Fund"?

Here's what the necklaces look like:

And here's a closeup of one:

They are made of the following:
A pewter leaf pendant
Green pony beads
Glass spacer beads
And the lace is made from black woven hemp that is surprisingly soft!

Thanks for looking, and please comment, even if you just want to say if it's a good idea or a bad one! I really want to help both this community and wildlife, and I thought this would be a great (and fun) idea!

Sorry about yesterday...

I guess I need to explain myself -

I've had a lot of things going on in real life. My dad's been diagnosed with cancer again and is having to do chemotherapy again (2nd time), and my mom is having her own surgery. We keep having to borrow money from friends and relatives to pay for everything that's been going on. My old car's transmission broke down, so I had to get a new one, which has been about the only good news lately. After that, a small chunk of the ceiling in my brother's room fell down, so we had to get the entire air conditioning unit and vents replaced.

I just came back from a one-day trip to Louisiana, which was something I was really looking forward to. I went over to Baton Rouge to spend the night in a hotel with my aunt, who came from San Antonio, TX, to spend some time with my parents while they go through their operations. Well, my cousin decided to come along on the trip, so when I got there everything was fine - we had a nice lunch, went to the hotel and hung out for a while. We decided to go to the mall because he wanted to go to a game store, but when we were finally walking up to the game store he said, "I don't want to go in there, let's just go back to the hotel." Anyway, long story short, the next morning something happened between my aunt and cousin where they were mad at each other. My aunt decided to send him back to San Antonio on a bus, and my cousin was being stubborn and just wanted to stay in the hotel (which wouldn't happen because the people were about to go in and clean it). So we got to the bus station and found out there was a bus leaving that moment. I tried to get him to hurry up and he told me to go f*** myself. We finally got him on the bus, and that was the end of that.

Sold some necklaces - good for TEF, bad for potential buyers

Hey guys, my aunt (who I have nicknamed Kimonomom on here) bought some of my necklaces from my Project: Greenleaf Shop! She spent $33 USD and bought two necklaces and one of the plushie necklaces that fit her as a bracelet.

So the good news is that $18 USD (about €12.70 EUR) will be donated to ToT! That doubles the amount donated from my shop, adding up to €24.08 EUR once I get her donation in.

The other good news is that now there is a little bit of room for me to make more necklaces! I actually have a few that will be made soon - one features black spherical beads in varying sizes and will have a black glass leaf pendant that has golden markings on it. I just made a few more necklaces now - Stag's Eye, and Gentle Guardian.

The bad news (for you guys) is that she bought two of the popular necklaces, Photosynthesis and Holy Water. The plushie necklace she bought was Wishing Bones.

I think I've decided that I will not make duplicates of these necklaces, because I think it should be special to have a necklace be unique (aside from the cheaper pony bead necklaces and the Quartz necklaces - they are similar/identical on purpose). HOWEVER, I will reuse some of the bead styles, maybe changing them up a little, but have a different pendant on it; and maybe reuse certain pendants with different beads. So if there was a pendant you really, really liked that has been sold, please let me know and I may make a similar (but not identical) necklace using that pendant.

Check out my new ride! (new pics)

Well, today my mom drove my Mazda and decided that it needed to be checked out at an auto shop. I knew it was acting up but I didn't think it was as bad as the transmission being bad.

The repair job would have been around $1,700.

So we looked online for a new car. My brother actually found this one, though originally I was going to get a red one that was about $1,000 cheaper. When we got to the dealership, we found out that the engine on the red one was bad and could go out easily.

So instead, I got...

A white 1998 Mercury Mountaineer!

This is the actual pic of it from the dealership website. I'll get a new photo with me actually showing off next to it tomorrow, weather permitting....and it's supposed to rain all week.

It was pouring all day when we went. We actually test-drove this vehicle in the rain, and when we were doing the paperwork, it was thundering so bad that the electricity at the dealership actually went out a few times.

So I finally got some pics of me with it:

Roll Tide, baby!

Hey I can hold tailgate parties if I want to now!

Sadly, my old 1990 Mazda 626 is sitting on the lot of the dealership tonight. It was hard to let go of it - I got it as a graduation present in 2004. But it just had so many problems that it was time to get something new, and I got 5 years out of it so I'm happy about that.

Divine Sanctuary Index (Chapter 4 started)

Slots full!

I've been wanting to finish up Divine Sanctuary, so here is the index:

Prologue
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Chapter 3
Chapter 4

So in this story, Quad is given different teams of talux (winged TEF deer) to help him with various tasks. If you haven't read the previous stories, I won't spoil what all happens but every deer has an ability and their own set of wings. Your deer can still participate even if you haven't read them.

Below are some ideas for powers/abilities, but this is not a definite list and any ideas are more than welcome. Just if you can't think of something and want to be in the story, that's what this list is for. PLEASE, if an ability has already been taken, choose another (unless it's noted that there can be multiples) or suggest one of your own:

Random Harry Potter Dream

Don't worry, Harry wasn't really in my dream. It was centered around me as a Hogwart's student.

In the dream I was in professor McGonagall's Transformation class. She tested the students one by one on transforming into something else. I never got a good look at my own clothes, but I think I wore a generic black robe, so I don't know what house I'd be associated with, but I'm assuming Hufflepuff since that's what I'd probably be sorted into.

When it was my turn, I transformed into a guy with a bandanna over my face and military clothing. The professor had a panic attack when she saw I was wearing a dogtag, and I tried to explain to her that I felt like wearing it was in honor of fallen soldiers. Ironically, the person I had transformed into is my character from Rock Band, who wears military clothing and a camo bandanna over his face.

I then explained to her that I really was half-muggle, and I had to return to my real home soon to go to college. I know in my case I'd be way to old to be learning magic, but that's what the story told me - that I was leading a double life as a Hogwarts student and a college student.

She teleported me home, where I learned that my parents had already removed all of my belongings as they thought I had left or was dead. I had appeared in my room, so I knew I was in trouble if they found me, so I used a spell to make my body camouflage with the walls when someone came in, then when they left I climbed out the window, brushed the leaves off of me, and rang the doorbell.

My dad opened the door and I found that he had invited a bunch of other people over - mostly family members. I was surprised to see that many of them were wearing Auburn hats (my family is a huge fan of a NCAA team called the Alabama Crimson Tide [University of Alabama]. Our rival team are the Auburn Tigers [Auburn University]), so I brought it up, "Why the hell are there Auburn fans in our house?"

Pepper

So two days ago we had a stray puppy come to our doorstep. We took her in, fed and bathed her, and put signs up around the neighborhood saying we found a lost puppy.

Well now she's starting to feel right at home. I don't think we're going to keep her but you never know - we put some ads out and they'll end on thursday, so after that we don't know what's going to happen with her.

She's a really cute puppy, and very social. Boo really likes her, and Brandy of course is keeping a watchful eye on her. Her name right now is Pepper (she didn't have a collar or tags when we let her in).

Anyway, I took a few pictures:

And two with her and Brandy:
