Fangs bit down against the soft flesh. The body, unresponsive. Teeth tore at the cold meat of the long dead fawn. The area surrounding the two seemed to be darker than the rest of the forest. As if it wanted to hide what sin was happening hidden behind the peacefull fog. Purple eyes cut through this shade however, watching, silently, for any signs of another coming near. The pain of his mark burned his skin, urging him to consume the innocent flesh, if only to relenquish the pain for a short time.
Thankfully this day he didn't have to kill. The fawn had died of some unknown sickness that seemed to have swept over some of the fawns with the oncoming chill of the season. Sharp, quick breathing tryed its best to draw enough air for his body to keep going, to keep the pain numb at the back of his mind.
'Poor pathetic creature. Look at what has become of you' A sharp voice called out, if only for Envy himself to hear.
The black stag's head snapped up, sharp teeth bared, auds flicked, searching for any sound.
'Your nothing more than a monster, So lowly a sin are you. Having to kill children for your own guilty pleasure, only to numb over your pain that will easily come back.
Tell me Envy, is the pain going away? You know you can't hide your true self for long' The voice hissed in almost a mocking tone. As if laughing at his failure.
Eyes softening, he looked down at what he had become, nothing more that a lowly killer. Blood dripped from his mouth, the sweet taste running across his tounge, as if beconing him to have more.
Drip. Drip. Drip
Envy clenched his eyes closed as he shook his head back and forth, trying to erase the horrible, scratchy voice from his memorys. Mocking him always, as if it were a broken record.
Standing on shakey legs, he backed away from the fawn. His long green hair dripped with its blood. He watched as it slid through his hair, twords the blackened earth.
Drip. Drip. Drip.....
The sound echoed in his ears.
"H-Hello? Is anyone out here?" A soft voice called out.
The echo of blood stoped as Envy's ears caught hint of another stag near his hiding place. Eyes focused in on a short stag, his gold fur standing out from between the dark trees.
Edward scanned the surrounding area, he thought he had heard someone wandering about over here, but now it seemed deathly silent. Soft gold eyes looked about, auds flicking back and forth every once in a while searching for any sounds. He thought he saw a dark shadow hiding behind one of the trees, but he was distracted by the scent of blood in the air. Spotting drops of blood on the ground he followed the trail.
Envy watched silently, holding his breath, trying to stay perfectly still as this golden stag drew closer to where he hid.
Snow made its way down through the treetops, slowly covering the ground. 'Damn it' Envy cursed. Taking a step back he slipped, crashing none to gracefully to the cold, hard forest floor.
Edward hurried over to the black stag, his long dark green hair strewn out, clashing with the new snow's soft white. 'Are you okay?' He asked, slightly pokeing Envy's cheak with his nose.
Envy's eyes snapped open, growling under his breath he looked up at Edward. Before he could come up with a witty comeback he yelped as a sharp pain ripped through his hind leg. great, its broken... he cursed at himself under his breath as he tryed to stand, ignoring Edward's attempts to help him up. Flinching back as he tryed to touch Envy again.
After many trys, Envy slowly stood up, balalencing his weight as to not cause his leg pain. Cat like violet eyes looked over the gold stag, a slight frown gracing his lips. 'Why are you out here? Shouldn't you be with the herd?'
Edward just shook his head, his golden eyes looked to the ground. 'No, I don't follow the herd. I...was actually lost. Why are you out here? And why is there the smell of blood?' A look of wory flashed over the boy's face. 'Are you okay? You look like you might have hurt your leg...
Envy laughed under his breath. 'My health is none of your consern chibi-san. And you shouldn't go around following trails of blood, there might always be a monster lurking at the end. He laughed again.
Edward frowned, 'Im not afraid of any monsters. He stood as tall as he could, trying to look brave. Although his eyes stated otherwise.
Amused, Envy walked slowly over to Edward, sneering in his face.'Want a bet?'
Before Envy could do anything, the forest seemed to sway as he fell to the ground, pain shooting throughout his body. As Ed tryed to catch him, Envy let out a horrible scream of pain
...and all went black...
