"How did you and Mom meet?"

"Me and Fen? Well... Why do you ask?" A butterfly pelted stag looked to his daughter, his hazel eyes staring lovingly into her almost identical eyes.

"I was... just wondering..." Faytha said, scratching a dark golden hoof on the ground. Her feathers swayed in the slight winter's breeze.

"Hmm... Well, I remember it was a nice, warm summer day. I was still young, almost a teen... My father, your grampa, had recently passed away, but I wasn't gonna let that get me down. I decided to go out and make some friends one day."

"Grampa? Oh yeah... What did he die of again?"

Skokey shuddered slightly at the thought. "It was... some kind of disease, I dunno... A lot of older deer were catching it. Thanks the Gods I didn't..."

"Oh yeah..." Faytha looked down, wondering what it was like. She snapped out of it soon enough, "Oh, um, anyway..."

"Oh yeah... Well, I went to the Pond. You know it's the most popular place to be. Anyway, I found a big group of deer, they looked like they were having a pretty good time. I didn't find anyone my age at first, which got me a little disappointed... But then I found Fenqua." Skokey smiled, blushing, remembering the first time he saw her.

Faytha smiled, "What was she like?"

"She was... smaller, a sweet little face, with big blue eyes... She wore purple flowers on her head all the time, and she was a little toned, not as much as now, but she was in pretty good shape for a fawn. Better shape than me, that's for sure." He winked, catching Faytha off guard.

"But yeah... " He continued, "I went over to her and asked her name. She knew I was pretty nervous, I was shaking like crazy! She asked me to dance with her and the rest of the group. So naturally, I said yes and... Well, we had a lot of fun that day. We left the group to play together. We played tag on the rocks here, talked... Probably one of the best days of my life."

"But.. you were just friends then?"

Skokey looked at her. "... Yeah... I didn't develop any feelings for her until um... Probably early adolescence. Right before I met my mother."

Faytha nodded, "Okay, makes sense..." Her ears lowered a little, looking at the distant grasses sway about. Her mind strayed elsewhere for a moment, bringing a touch of red to her face. Her mask lay next to Fenkovan's, who was asleep not too far away.

Skokey noticed her blush, and smirked. "What are you thinking about?"

Faytha let out a little squeak, lowering her head a little. "N-nothing..."

"You like someone don't you?" He skooched a little closer to her.

"........ Maybe..."

"Who is it?"

Faytha blushed heavily now, "I-I don't wanna say..."

Skokey blinked, "You sure?"

Faytha nodded. She looked up slightly, only to see something she did not want to see. Fenkovan, now awake, was talking to... him.

Why him? Why now?

Skokey noticed, "Oh hey, think you have a friend."

"Yeah..." Faytha got up quickly, "I should go say hi."

"Have fun." Skokey said smoothly. There he is. A smirk spread across his orange face. That's him.

Faytha trotted up to him and Fenkovan. "H-hi..."

The stag smiled slightly, "Hello Faytha. How are you?"

Faytha instantly perked up, "I'm okay, I guess. How are you?"

The stag shrugged. Fenkovan stepped forward a little. "Alright, alright, you said your hellos."

Faytha shot him a look, "Fenko..."

"Well, um... Hey, why don't we go to the Pond?"

The Pond? Oh, that could help... Faytha smiled and nodded, "Sure!"

They trotted off together, inviting Fenkovan. He politely refused, going his own way. The Pond was indeed a popular place, but today, it was peaceful. Not too many were there. It was nice and quiet for the two of them.

Spade and Faytha. Now wouldn't that be something?
