Have you read Unplugged's blogs? He explains the simple aspects very well and it was mostly through his explanations that I learned.
This one is perfect for beginners to understand how CSS works, and then this one shows which part of the blog is what and what names that things have. I recommend reading those, making a practice blog, and simply playing with it to see what happens.
In addition, I really like this website: http://www.w3schools.com/
I use it whenever I need to know how to do something.
All that said, if you have more specific questions I might be able to help. I have only been at this for a little while (I practice in the evenings so threads don't update throughout the day to bug the trackers) but I've found it immensely fun and I have come a long way through just trial and error.
