Yeah, i've been trying to get in-game when I shouldn't, what a tweest

The problem is that I decided to reinstall to try and fix my connection problems. It only seems to have made it worse. So far out of many attempts it's only gone green once, and during that time I didn't appear on the map anyway. I used to be able to get a green dot if I tried enough times buuut that doesn't seem possible anymore.

The rest of the time the dot goes orange...and stays orange no matter how much running around, mooing, or fiddling with settings. I tried turning "run in background" off and on, running as admin, running in Windows XP mode, turning the graphics settings waaaay down. Nothing works.

Sometimes the pictos spread and sometimes they don't- that isn't as much of an issue as the orange dot. I know from previous experience that sometimes this means I don't see people at all or they don't move/have no set/basically the wrong information on my screen and sometimes this happens to me for other people.

Any ideas or is this a sign that I should get my work done instead of vidya games?
