He is waayyy fluffier than I thought he would be, considering his mother has less extra fluff and his father had none at all. Totally agree he is soooo cute ♥
He's pretty friendly, not too bothered about people walking around and stuff being moved. Its hard to tell about his quirks at the moment because its so hot, all they want to do is flop over and rest in the sun. I do know that he seemed more concerned with eating than he did with meeting his mother pff. And its interesting to watch him get used to the routines like feeding times XD
There is always going to be someone who will achieve better, but if you are happy and content with what you have, then that's all that matters. If you want to achieve more, then get off your ass and do it. Don't just stew in it and make yourself feel worse.
This.
You come first before anyone else's opinion does. Honestly I see opinions as either game changers, or booster seats to a different or higher place. All depends on how you want to look at it.
For me, art is a double edged sword. I'll get envious of someone else's art, but that art will encourage ME to draw more. Its not a competition, just inspiration to challenge myself and strive to improve so I can be satisfied in what I do.
i hate how much that sounds like something i would do sigh.. ive almost burned the house down before forgetting to put water in my noodles until too late and there was smoke everywhere and the smoke alarm going off and the kitchen stunk for days/weeks afterwards of burnt noodles so bad,, i really hope you can get everything recovered ;;
The more it all sinks in though, the more I realise how much I've potentially lost and hhHHHH. Thank you though ;;. THEY NEED TO MAKE LAPTOPS IDIOT PROOF, or at the very fucking least, a smidge more water proof...
I've been in a similair near art-death situation before with my old failing grampa laptop. Two times total but I acter very chill and phlegmatic during it huh...
But now i have all files copied onto a hdd and my new graphic intensive comp. so i have two backups if the olde laptom eventually fails or the new one.
probably sometime soon.
I do hope you'll be able to restore your files.
I wish I was calmer about all of this. but i'm petty enough to have a near breakdown over the loss of a material object and everything stored on it. It was like my child.
Thank you for the support ;; AND EVERYONE that's wished me luck to get my files back on discord ♥
I know that feel and it sucks (my desktop suddenly stopped working some years ago, lost everything from many years. then one laptop tasted my hot cocoa and poof). ;; So sorry it had to happen to you too, ugh.
HELLO and welcome to me complaining about pointless shit :okay_hand:
♥
ALSO TUO I didn't respond for 84 years bUT I CAN SAY even after all this time I'm still realising things that I've lost forever. Just small doodles of things or css documents. BUT there's some sanity in knowing its happened to other people, so I'm not alone.
my first rat, mei, had to get her teeth trimmed every couple of months too.. the only rat I’ve had out of 20+ that have ever needed them trimmed. Do they have to put your bun on gas to trim? I suppose it’s more difficult with a bun than a small rat so it’d be trickier.. really hope it’s at least a one off trip ;;
They said gas and oxygen, so she might not be fully under? She's a very flighty bun tho with a tendency to kick out if she's stressed. So its scary if she does need to go under every so many weeks just for teeth trimming. Getting her spayed was stressful enough, signing the papers so I understood that there's a chance she won't take well to anaesthesia..
Def hoping its a one off trip, even if it means sacrificing stuff for her to HOPEFULLY chew on cries.
Where are her teeth overgrown, front or back? What does her diet consist of?
If her back teeth are overgrown, I'd ask the vet about cutting down on her pellets, which would hopefully force her to eat more hay (if she's not that picky).
Front and back, front are long, back are sharp. I'd say her diet is more pellets at the moment even if she's picking at hay a lot. Might have to limit the amount of pellets as you say, though she eats like she's starving. Bowl is always empty when i feed her in the evenings, and then she's asking for more.
Planning on finding ways to make hay more appeaLING, and maybe look into baby toys like the wooden stuff that's saFE. Hide some dried banana chips inside because she loVE'S THEM.
I have a bunny too and it's really weird that he never, in these 5 years of his life, had any problems with teeth, even tho he barely chews anything. Some rabbits don't like chewing on their own and it can certainly become a real problem. What I did when my bun was younger (this will sound extremely dumb lol) was to basically make him chew branches by holding them right in front of his nose. He would then become angry that they were blocking his way and chew them. But that trick could be done only while he was in his cage, because he had nowhere to escape. As for the diet, it's a bit strange to me that pelets might be the cause of her overgrown back teeth. My bun never liked hay, he eats it only during the winter when there is no fresh grass and leaves. Are those pelets you feed her just pelets or pelets mixed with seeds and stuff like that?
She is adorable btw (:
I'm wondering if its part to do with the breed and/oR their upbringing. She's the first bun I've had from a store (previous were either rescues or from an accidental litter we had), SO perhaps the store didn't do enough to encourage it or she didn't learn it properly from her mother IDK. SHE WAS separated from the other buns in the adoption section, because she was apparently 'aggressive' and 'preferred to live alone' WHICH was total bullshit. She was just a dominant female that hadn't been spayed yet.
Def not a dumb idea! I can think of a few places to hang branches/wooden toys that will for sure get in the way, at least at first til she learns to jump over. She's got a decent sized run outside and her main home is a wooden Wendy house.
She's on just pellets. I always find with mixed feeds that a lot gets wasted. She just digs through what she wants and leaves the rest sob.
And thank you! She is so precious ;; HER EYES are almost lilac? I LOVE THEM.
Might be a better image for you horselover! SHE's a uh..MAYBE PART Himalayan?? Lion-head lop. Def a mix. Got that fluffy head on top!
RIP Flash's butt in the background. I need to get more up to date pictures cries
Look at the little cutie! Kinda looks like my bun except that mine is a lionhead and is completely white with same red-ish eyes. She seems stubborn, I know very well how it can be since mine is a little rascal too. I'm not sure how different breeds of bunnies behave, but animals for sure can have their own personalities, regardless of the breed. My bun was a lot more picky about food when he was younger (he was less than a month old when we got him) so a lot of mixed pelets were wasted. Then we decided to cut his other food so he had to start eating them. It wasn't easy and it didn't happen overnight, but he eventually started eating mixed pelets. Bunnies are surprisingly smart and they know very well how to play to get what they want, but we as their owners have to learn how to stop playing by their rules. Mine still sometimes grabs his food bowl and spills everything all over the place because he figured he would then get other food which he could pick through xD it's hilarious. But once they realize they have no other choice but to eat what is given to them, they do start eating even the things they don't really like. Just gotta be tough and not give in to their begging lol. I suggest you to start giving her more corn, oats and things like that, because they are hard and good for the back teeth. Pelets alone don't do much because they are too easy to chew. My bun is used to all kinds of food now so I'm not concerned about his diet anymore, but you should definitely keep an eye on yours because she is young. Plus, seeds, corn and stuff aren't really food that should be given regulary to them. I hope your girl gets better soon (:
I'd say her diet is more pellets at the moment even if she's picking at hay a lot. Might have to limit the amount of pellets as you say, though she eats like she's starving. Bowl is always empty when i feed her in the evenings, and then she's asking for more.
Animals in general will act like they're starving any time they get fed, even when given proper amounts. My bun did it all the time when I gave her her pellets in the evening, and she ate her hay like a cow all day.
How much is she getting in terms of pellets? A cup, two cups, a whole bowl full? When my rabbit had long teeth, her vet had me cut her down to about a tablespoon a day. She ate the hay without issue and her teeth eventually wore down without needing them filed. Again, this is something I'd consult the veterinarian about, as every rabbit is different, and will react differently to different portions. But you really want to avoid putting her under for as long as you can, and I have a feeling that restricting her pellet intake will help significantly.
Roughly 90% of a rabbit's diet should be hay. Pellets are essentially a supplement that taste good to them, so if they're given a lot, they will naturally eat it more than the hay. Hay not only helps keep their teeth naturally trimmed down (pellets they usually eat with their front teeth, hay makes them use all their teeth), but it also keeps their intestinal tract muscles in shape.
tl;dr Check with your vet first, but I'd strongly suggest cutting back the pellets a lot and make sure she has access to hay all day. Sorry if I'm hijacking your blog, it's just that I've been down this road myself and it's not fun for both person and bun. Gonna keep your very cute girl in my thoughts. <3
[e] Things like corn and seeds I'd avoid like the plague, honestly. Rabbits can't digest them, and they can cause blockages in their intestines. In all honesty, pretty much any marketed rabbit treat (especially any with honey, corn, or seeds) can be dangerous to them.
@pearslug; it is true that corns and seeds should be avoided, that's why I said that they aren't the food that should be given regulary to bunnies. But on the other hand, just as humans, every rabbit is different. I might now sound like an irresponsible owner, but my bun numerous times ate things that no vet in the world would ever approve. I bet some people would be surprised that he is even alive if I told them what he ate. And he never had any health problems. My mother used to have rabbits too and they ate corns and seeds regulary, never having any health problems either. Then there are some people that I know who took care of every little thing their rabbits ate, only to have them die in the first year or two. I guess it just depends on the rabbit, some are more prone to have health problems than others.
awwwww shes so cute and I didn't know you had another rabbit named flash but I like both of the rabbits
but ive never seen one with fluff on the top of its head before that's just so cute!! also baby bunnies are cute too ive held a adult bunny and a baby bunny although when I tried setting the adult down it was kinda scratching me to get down but mabey hay is better for the little cutie but I don't know the fluff heads name(I know the one in the background is flash but whats the other ones name? also can I call her fluff head?)(no offence by the way) also how old are they?( sorry for asking all these questions its ok if you don't want to answer cuz of privacy) also fresh water and attention from other people is good for rabbits too but can they die from getting scared?
Her food isn't measured to a fault BUT, we use a measuring cup for small dogs and she tends to have maybe half a cup a day. I checked her bowl at midday today and its empty so she'll go maybe 7 hours now with no pellets, just hay. I'm really not sure if it is a diet issue ;; but if so then she's the first out of many that's 'suffering' as a result of the food regime.
I just feel like she's lacking the stimulation to chew and investigate things. Another thing is note is the weaTHER. Its been so damn hot this summer, and all she wants to do is pancake. So the heat could def be a factor for lack of activity.
We'll be going to a pet store at the weekend to splurge money on new toys. I'm even thinking maybe some type of jam or yogurt that's safe for buns, just to smear it inside something that she can try to break into.
Dazzle
I think its an unavoidable fact that rabbits will eat things they aren't supposed to during their life, especially if they're outdoor buns. I can agree that some rabbits are totally fine with certain foods that others aren't, and you'll always get people that argue one thing over another. Something to keep in mind though; what your parents or grandparents did with their rabbits, might very well be frowned upon now.
My grandmother (bless her soul) was a pain for giving our buns dandelion leaves, WHICH so many people will argue is fiNE, and I agree BUT ONLY IN VERY SMALL DOSES. They're too high in fibre and give rabbits diarrhoea. Yet someone will say 'my rabbit lived on those when I was a kid and they lived for yeARS'.
horselover, she's called Scarlet! It was the name she came with. We were gonna change it but..she's still Scarlet after a year ha.
Frequent doctor visits are so stressful.

thAT is a possibility since I work with animals, LIKE if its asthma it could have been triggered OR worsened by animal droppings/the enclosures. At the very least, that environment doesn't help for sure.
