I wasn't going to post this until I use it in my next plot, but I'm proud of it because it's my first front-on image of Dag's facial structure. The key is to think brick x lion...
Not to mention remembering that herbivours have eyes at the side of their head! I'm impressed by that; admittively it's a bit of a pet peeve when people draw the eyes in the wrong place.

Vee - I don't know how anyone can draw them on the front as head-shape kind of dictates that? Not everyone draws them with that long line at the front of the eye like you do though -bites arm off instead- GAORRRRR.

Ahhh well spotted, but they're not meant to look like new scars :') Large patch scars are rarely smooth, and those lines are meant to loosely follow muscle running up his neck, and where it creases with movement.

Not like that. :P I know the angle does kinda dictate that, but I'm referring to drawing deer with eyes at the front, like what you'd expect from wolves and the like. Deer, like most herbivours have eyes more to the side of their head, so that they get a wider view of their surroundings - consequently though, they're not as able of judging distance as well as the frontal eye placement in predators, which is what the positions are for.
The placement of the eyes in Dag in this picture is very good. His eyes are sort of frontal as expected from the pose, but at the same time doesn't make him look like a wolf or bear or something!
That's not to say I dislike slightly flawed anatomy though. Here there are a lot of learning artists, many of which probably came from a background more used to drawing the predators. It's a really easy slip to make!
Vee - lol I do know the difference between herbivore and carnivore eyes, you didn't need to explain as that wasn't my point. Dag's eyes are frontal, but he is looking down in this image, which is why you are able to see the back corner of the eye. His face is not the shape of a deer's either (his cheek bones are far wider and don't come in so shallow around the eye). If he were front-on directly (like the picture of Virgil I did), you wouldn't see the back corners. However he typically doesn't have big bulging bug eyes like deer either, but that's an aesthetic choice to my animation style. I don't think he works at all drawn realistically!
Mis - Yes 8( normally I use circles to build up a front-on face, but with him I literally did draw brick shapes ._. thanks!
