Africa did, in fact, have a child before she arrived at the Forest.
Her son was a mirror of his father, a large, strong nomad Nyala that snuck into herds and bred with as many females he could. Africa was one of the few females he could get away with breeding. She had a very strong maternal instinct in her that, to this day, still remains. Her son was slaughtered by a sly leopard during the migration. She prefers not to speak about this, but will tell the story if one is interested enough to hear it. The ghost of her long lost fawn can sometimes be found wandering the forest with her, though she will never be able to see him. She will not acknowledge him as you may do so because she cannot see him.
