Baa baa black sheep, have you any heart? (Blood warning, character interaction)

The metalic, sickingly sweet smell of blood hangs thickly in the air, completely drowning out the normal scents of the Forest. Viscous red liquid is splattered all over the surrounding area, and pooling into gouges marking the ground.

Something horrible obviously happened here, it'd be a miracle if anything survived the event.

But, wait, what's moving behind that root?

A black doe had been

A black doe had been wandering the forest, no clear destination in mind it seemed. The scent of blood caught her attention from far away. It wasn't often that predators left a huge mess behind, so where was this overwhelming smell coming from? Her pace picked up to a quick trot, her interest piqued at this strange occurrence. When the large doe came to the tree, she stopped in her tracks. Fusion was no stranger to blood, no stranger at all, but that sill didn't stop this gory scene from making her cautious.

Her ears flicked forward, listening for anything dangerous before she walked closer to the tree. Looking down, she traced her hoof across the gouges that scarred the ground. Something large had been by here? It certainly seemed like that. She looked up at the tree, indifferent to the blood spatter. Whatever caused all this, it was obviously gone from here now. But what was it? And what kind of strength did it have to cause something like this? Another question that ran across her mind was where was the body that spilled all this blood?

The doe snorted, shaking her head as she turned to leave. This marked tree would give her something to watch out for. Though, right as she started to go, movement caught her eye. Fusion stopped, looking back at the tree. A little black speck rested behind a fern-covered root. Her ears pinned back, surely this tiny thing couldn't have caused all the gore. But... why was it left behind? The black doe lowered her head and walked towards it, keeping a distance, but letting her curiosity take her as close as she dared.

Fusion tilted her head curiously. Was it alright? She stepped closer, looking down at it. She hoped she wouldn't scare the small thing.

I swear I'm not always this long-winded.

Heavy hoof beats approached

Heavy hoof beats approached the bloody tree, the noise stopping short of the fawn's hiding place. She closed her eyes tightly, hoping not to be noticed by whoever had come to investigate the area. Maybe she wouldn't be found by that... Thing, and she wouldn't have to suffer the fate that had befallen her mother.
What felt like ages passed as the deer wandered around, her anxious curiosity building every minute, until she couldn't stand it anymore. The little female's head peeked out of safety to get a look at the owner of those hoof beats, watching cautiously as the doe seemed to be leaving.

Cold fear gripped the blood-spattered fawn as the stranger's red, slited eyes stared right at her, every instinct telling her to run but her body wouldn't listen. She sat frozen in place as the doe continued to approach, blue eyes following her every movement. The child couldn't take the stress of the situation anymore and attempted to flee, toppling over backwards in her haste.

Thin legs flailed wildly in Fusion's direction, a series of squeaks coming from the fawn's mouth in a vain attempt to scare the dragon doe away.

{Sorry that it took so long to me to reply, every time I sat down to work on this something came up that I had to deal with first.}

The black doe frowned sadly,

The black doe frowned sadly, though stayed where she was. Stop kicking like that... please... You might hurt yourself or make existing wounds worse. Fusion thought to herself. She didn't want to back away, or else the fawn might try to run off, but she didn't want to get any closer, for fear that the little thing would hurt itself trying to get away. "Shh, shh, shh," she cooed, trying to calm the small fawn down.

"It's alright, I'm not going to hurt you. I won't hurt you."

The doe's speech rendered in

The doe's speech rendered in the fawn's head for a few moments, before she seemed to comprehend the statements. Each kick afterward had noticeably less conviction, her movement slowly ground to a complete halt, save for the heaving of her chest. The child's squeaking had reduced to little more than feeble hiccups, escaping from her mouth as she stared at Fusion with wide eyes.
"Hh-ur-t?" she mimicked questioningly, glancing around quickly before looking towards the ground in front of her. The blood covered fawn scrambled forward so that she wouldn't continue to lean against the marked tree.

Having righted herself, the little one stood up on wobbly legs, tilting her head back to get a better look at the deer in front of her. She really wasn't as scary as she first looked, though her red eyes and sharp teeth were still somewhat menacing. "Wwwoh-n't hu-rt?" she asked, looking up at the dragon doe expectantly, her head coked slightly to the left.

Fusion watched cautiously as

Fusion watched cautiously as the little fawn stood up, ready to move forward in case it started to fall. She lowered her head, tilting it to match the pose the fawn held. "That's right, I'm not going to hurt you," she said softly, trying to keep a calming tone in her voice.

"Where's Mommy? Is Mommy alright?" Fusion asked, hoping she would understand. If this fawn had a mother, she could take it to her. The amount of fawns in this forest without parents... it made her sad at times, though mostly she was indifferent. A priority after finding this fawn's mother, if she had one, was to watch out for whatever caused all the bloodshed.
