I remembered when I played TEF before, I had some trouble with this computer, because f keys only worked in-game if I pressed the fn key at the same time. Which would lead to my game crashing if I didn't do it right.
I wish I had done this before, but I googled "change f key settings". And found the solution.
If you have this problem, you can change the settings by:
- When you start your computer, you should see somewhere on the screen that tells you to press a certain key to enter a settings screen (I think it's either BIOS settings or startup settings, or something like that). For mine, it's the esc key. I don't know if it's the same for all computers. Important: You only have a short time to do this. When the message that says "press ____" goes away, it's too late. You'll have to start your computer again.
- After you've done that, it should bring up a menu. Press F10 to enter configuration settings. Use the arrow keys to navigate the menu. Find "action keys mode" and press enter.
- There should be a setting to enable or disable f keys. Whatever it's set at, change it to the other setting. I had to change mine to enabled.
- Press F10 to save your settings. You will then have to restart your computer.
Just keep in mind this will, of course, affect all of your f key functions. You will now need to use the fn key for things that didn't need it previously, and vice versa.
If you're really against changing your f key settings for whatever reason, another option is to buy another keyboard, but I personally don't think it's worth it, unless you have another reason for wanting a different keyboard.
