So, I'm making a game and I need.... ... whip weilding people

So this is an intro...sort of

This wonderful story began when i discovered twine.
And my text adventure game endeavors have utterly failed.
Because i'm a shit writer (figures)

And then I figured that you could make text rpgs in it...and i've been hooked ever since!
First made a game called 'the dark pit' which started you as a demon with amnesia who had to find their way back. This game featured a character creator that was more randomised (i still like that part)
had a wardrobe system, inventory system, traveling from A to B and from B to A, also included a completely randomised traveling section (which needed, for 4 time conditions, 4 weather conditions, at least four passages for each of those combinations (so much to write, again i'm a shit writer but i script like crazy)) it had it's villag,e randomised and usable mounts, a townhall to rename yourself a town rep system a prison system...thats all i have completed so far.
and it was too ambitious and lost it's goal.

I'll eventually remake it cause it was nice and i love my demon species.

So what am i making now or rather stoped but want to continue (it's just that i work better under stress and if people legit encourage me to complete it, not just nag me to complete it, actually want it seen completed)

'I AM DRAGON' working name, will get a better name after a bit.

So...what is that? A dragon sandbox rpg thing.

What will it be about?

You being a dragon, trying to survive and live as a dragon, and hoarding up as much treasure as possible.
The two goals severely conflict with eachother.
The more treasure you have, the more wanted you will be.
the less treasure you have, the more of a laughing stock among the dragons you become.
Eventually it is about balancing those two.
(and doing whatever the hell you want)

The game will feature and economy (than can get better/worse without your involvement!(which may cause drama if it was caused by another dragon))
randomised 10 NPC dragons
Lots of various human villages
The ability to have a mate and randomized offspring using your traits
the ability to own a lair in various biomes
dangers during traveling and lair raiders
npc conversations
The ability to be a total dickbutt or good.
Different weather conditions and different flight DANGERS on certain biomes (eg. do not fly during a storm in the mountains)
Lots of freak deaths for my amusement
World navigations and sub locations

So what do I need you guys for.

-Playtesting
-Spellchecking
-Feature suggesting (don't flood me just yet lol)
-Maybe help here and there
-encouragement (i'm seriously honest here, this is the most important thing followed by spellchecking xD)
-Playful berating and lots of lols, games are about having fun.

(Game will feature a credits section, load save game menu, maybe a guide at the start.)
You can suggesting things or post corrections here or my Skype, or my discord if you have it.

Current features

-A dragon creator
-NPC randomiser (not visible yet)
-Offspring generator (not visible yet)
-Village and economy prototype (can see some of the test debug numbers)
-A weather system + different text for different weather conditions (only sunny visible yet)
-A fully navigable world map with text (took SO long to write)
-Claimable lairs (not yet furnished with text)

Important features that will need to be implemented
-Economy prototypes (yey math)
-Razed village rebuilding
-A working random dragon encounter prototype (current one is buggy)
-Interaction with npc dragons
-Interaction and dragon fam claiming
-courtship among dragons? uh.
-Day cycling (this is a core element of the game actually ;-;)
-Dragon status and reputation
-Lair raiding
-Maybe art here and there (can use a lot of premade images to overlay eachother to create a visual example of your derg..e?)(graphic tablet is r.i.p. tho)
-A visual world map?Question?

Plans for next update

-Text for lairs (text for all lair variations)
-The ability to cycle through days (HP, Energy restoring)(randomise weather depending on days)
-Making village razing activities respond to Energy amount
-Do a random encounter prototype (specifically hunting wildlife)

Current version: http://www.mediafire.com/file/ik27862c0gf6cgp/IAmDragon.html

(actually if you're uber sneaky you can import it into your own twine <-<)

So glad about this lol. My

So glad about this lol.
My biggest issue is that writing text is just SUCH a MOOD KILLER I'm not even kidding.
It like prevents me from doing the cool stuff like cripting all the various things that can happen.
Scripting strings n booleans and i'm preety much in love with booleans.

Actually i should probably start including versions with each update.

So far in this version you can create a character and generate stats (I should fix the issue with having stats that are lower than 1)
You can explore the world
You can destroy a testing fishing village (and see what effect each action has)
You can claim a ... very empty lair.

So the next big change would be, actually writing text for the lair and...making you able to cycle through weather and weather based conditions.
Make the HP bar useable and responding to the environment.
And an energy bar (eventualyl i'll need to figure out to balance the daily energy bar)

(No subject)

<3 ay thank you guys for support!
I'll be working on making the next version more playable by implementing the key feature of the game, day cycling.

For easier navigation I ought to conjure up a world map
The working village prototype is located here:
Red square: village prototype
Green: Lair locations
Yellow: starting location

https://s19.postimg.org/910nm045v/worldmapiguess.png
(the game should probably feature a more lore friendly map at the bottom, so far you can navigate mostly by feeling and memorising where certain land features are)
(you can actualy style the appearance here too so backgrounds and the like can be included...)
(can't be bothered tho lol at least just yet.)

Actually I'm curious if any

Actually I'm curious if any of you would help me out revisit and balance cave locations.
like + and - to a cave.

(I'm not going to tell what is feasable and what not, limits imagination)

So far i've had it something like this:

Mountain cave:
++Very well protected
--uber dangerous location? (i think the chance of something bad hapening while flying on mountains during a storm will be 7/10)

Meadow keep:
--very exposed location
uh?Question

Forest hole:
--Bad weather protection, therefore dragons need to consume more food
--Not protected, like at all
++Well hidden, therefore less likely to be raided

Coastline lair:
---Absolutely no idea than maybe very hard for big human groups to raid it hnnng

Hello! c: I'd love to help

Hello! c: I'd love to help you out! I used to work on a mostly text-based RPG for a while so I guess I'm a little bit familiar with them.

For balancing the lairs, I'm not sure what you want to consider? I get exposure to raids and weather but is that it, or are they bigger/smaller, or is there more/less prey around? Maybe something important could be near certain lairs, or some lairs could be more difficult to live in than others.

As a user, I want to say: you should maybe remove some of the links at the edge of the map. I was slightly confused when I arrived to the northest part and wanted to fly further north but the game wouldn't let me.

But yeah, other than that I like the idea. Can't wait to see more! Smiling

(ninja edit to finish a sentence)

Preety much i'll let people

Preety much i'll let people mess around with the ideas for lair benefits. The more varied the suggestions the easier i will be to filter out the really great ones.

And you're right on that part.
I was originally wondering If i'd want to expand the world there, but I'll probably just leave the text but remove the links on the world edge.
However once I have the basics down I could safely fill in the blank holes in the map that make traveling...a bit silly at first.

some of my

some of my suggestions:

Mountain cave:
++ Well-protected; hard to access by all, excluding other dragons | good weather protection
- Somewhat exposed; once infamy is high enough the chances for raid is very high [if infamy will play a part in the game] otherwise has a base higher chance to be raided
+ Moderate amount of prey
- Mountains are also very cold with the seasons - varying amounts of prey each season; more during summer, far less during winter - must hunt outside of the mountains during winter
+ Hunted game will not "spoil" as easily - can be kept in one location and frozen for longer
- Potential for dangerous snowstorms that will ground the player; potential injury, conflict with humans/other dragons, etc.
+ Largest den - good for storage of both treasure and prey

Meadow keep:
- HIGHLY exposed location; most susceptible to raids [if infamy is high]
+- Varying weather protection; food must be consumed sooner
++ Copious amounts of prey
-- Little to no protection against raids / weather
+ Moderately sized - enough space for treasure/food
[im aSSUMING that it is an old ruined fort] -- Small chance for the keep to deteriorate completely upon returning to it - usually forewarned i.e. "You could feel a shift in the foundation of the old keep today. Maybe it is time to find a new home?" prior to the mini-event

Forest hole:
++Well hidden; lowest chance for raid
++ Copious amounts of prey
-- Absolutely no protection against potential raids / weather
- Food must be consumed fast
-- Smallest den; can only keep a certain treasure:food ratio.

Coastline lair:
+ Moderate protection; not easily reached by humans
+- Varying amounts of prey
++ Shipwrecks/human ships could be raided for their loot
+- Closest to the village prototype
-- Pirates??
+- Moderately sized - on the smaller side.

ALSO PERHAPS AN INFAMY SYSTEM? i.e. if your dragon razes villages frequently, humans will come to Kick their Butt or something. Reversely if you keep to yourself dragons may visit you more frequently. Ties in with your treasure - higher treasure amounts will make you more infamous if you venture out of your lair often.
Potential for amicable relations with humans? Followers/servants, offerings, etc in exchange for protecting a village or city from other dragons/outside conflicts. Useful in playthroughs where your dragon claims the Meadow Keep and wants to be left alone by raid groups.

Hnng. Tureina, I haven't even

Hnng. Tureina, I haven't even ought about size affecting how much you can store!
That will become very useful with the extra storage system that it will include. (which atm is, animals, junk, humans.(maybe other humanoids in fact. Say dwarves somehow dug a tunnel into your cave and started stealing your treasure little by little lol))

Since you can travel around the world relatively easily the scarcity of prey may be hard to do. However, Random events could happen when you exit your lair.
The snowstorm could easilly just tell you, oh well ope, just go to bed and starve because of your poor planning. (though maybe I should make some trigger events that will stack up over time like light snowfall around your mountain cavern)

Currently I'm still fixing up the lair text (why does it take so long x(), and i'll add a broken vessel prototype on the coastal cave. (I think i will force the trigger to happen on day 5)

Also should I make a discord group for suggesting features and reporting issues n stuff and i only update here the new versions?
