I've always liked crafting, and I'm 1/8 Ojibwe, and I learned from friends and elders about a variety of traditional crafts and making them. I'm only good at a handful, hehe, but nonetheless! I planned on starting a store on Etsy earlier this year and made a bunch of stuff in preparation, but that never happened and probably never will xD I'd still like to see this stuff go off to people that like these kinds of things... and I figured maybe some of them were here!
I make: Dreamcatchers(Ojibwe were the original creators), beaded bracelets, earrings, leather pouches(beaded and non), necklaces, etc. A few of the dreamcatchers/pouches/necklaces have antler tips on them, for those who are especially fond of deer or work with deer as a totem in any practice. Its a nice personal connection
Pictures are below.
Details/humane statement: Most of the dreamcatchers have parrot or crow feathers. A friend of mine owns an exotic bird store and collects shed feathers for me, and I get the crow feathers myself in the woods. Some also have "eagle" feathers- they're duck feathers from another friend with pet ducks. All of them are sanitized. Some pouches or dreamcatchers have buffalo teeth or antlers on them- I collect shed antlers and take the tips off myself, and the teeth come from a humane source. The chokers are natural bone/horn- no plastic!
I tried to be fair with pricing... I hate bringing money into any equation, but poor college kid here
If you like something but the price is off, I'll work with you, and I'll gladly trade
Dreamcatchers: Small catcher(pictured)- $10. Big catcher(twice the size)- $16
Pouches: antler/tooth pouch- $8; cross pouch- $6; Beaded bag- $20. There are also plain ones.
Beaded earrings:(bad photo, sorry. There are also other designs). $10
Necklaces: Big bone choker(first pic)- $20. Small horn chokers- $12. Beaded cross necklace- $8.
Bracelets- $6. They're a bit small because my skinny wrist was the model, hehe, but I've made a few of each in varying sizes. I'll measure them and give interested folks the sizes.
Sorry about the photo-spam and sorry if this is innapropriate/no one's interested xD I thought I'd try! People might find a gift for a friend or themselves, and I have more free room xD My lamps have "branches" that are currently employed as beaded-stuff trees, hehe.
Dreamcatchers! I love those
A little bump for you anyway. <3
My mind has just been
I think it's beautiful that you take so much pride in your heiritage. I do as well! Would you happen to have a contact elsewhere? MSN? Or a Yahoo account? This stuff is beautiful, thank you so much for sharing!
Hey! I really like your
These are so cool. Tracking
Tracking cuz these pictures make me happy, and maybe I'll think of someone to give these to. xD
Lovely stuff, and such a nice
Thanks everyone for the
Starling- Thank youuu To be honest, there's a big chance I'm just gonna end up giving stuff away xD Even as I was deciding how to price stuff I was thinking to myself "you're not gonna end up sticking to this anyway" xD If you do like/want something, let me know.
Celticmystress- I do have MSN, my email is - I don't care about sharing it publicly because its a spam email anyway(let me know who you are if you use it), and I only add select people I know on IM. I'm also on Livejournal, I post pictures of stuff I make there among other things. I'll give my username to those who want it
Kiwizoom- Some of my contact and other stuff is right above, as you saw I'm sure xD And at the moment I still have everything pictured, and more! hehe.
Ravus- Glad they make ya happy Hope you think of someone who'd like somethin'! Like I said above, I highly doubt I'm gonna stick to the price thing. There's a high probability that a lot of stuff is gonna get given away xD Feel free to let me know if there's something you like.
Terabetha- Thank you :D I always think my work is amateur compared to so many Native artists- have you SEEN some of the beadwork on necklaces and powwow regalia?!- but its always thrilling to see positive responses to my own stuff
These are stunning! I really
I love that you use parrot feathers, it always makes me happy to think that those gorgeous feathers aren't going to waste!
I would have to pay for such
/ramble
With that in mind, is there anything you've made that you would recommend for a nine year old girl? xD (Little kid 'size'? Or maybe a dreamcatcher, hm..) No issue if not; I'll simply keep coming back to this blog and staring at everything until I can make a choice. BD
I know whatcha mean... I hate
For a 9 year old... depending on what she likes, maybe the bracelets? I'll have to get measurements but they're all pretty small, even the ones I tried to make big! Maybe one of the dreamcatchers. I have a lot of the small ones like I pictured, and a handful of bigger ones... I'll send you pictures of more if you like.
Trigger mortis- Thank youuu
The antler pouch has been
