I've never had any problems.
Whenever I log out of one deer they keep everything but their antlers.
I just usually quit and re-load spell data at that point.
I know a way to change account without losing your set.
Before the game connects, uncheck the box that says "show player identification". When the game connects you will be a naked deer but still be able to log in on a different account. When you press "show player identification" again you will have your set. Simple as that.
