La had followed her nose,

La had followed her nose, attentive to the smell of exhaustion and pain. She had found an doe holed up in The Ruins. La made a questioning crooning sound, asking the doe if she was alright.
It wasn't uncommon for deer to visit The Ruins, but it was unusual for La to see them taking refuge there when they were injured--or in this case, in the final stages of healing.
"Lala? La?" She asked. Who are you? You okay?
EternalWanderer's picture

Lily shaked her fur again,

Lily shaked her fur again, the mind looking for the right words. She was rather surprised for a fawn having the observation to notice her camouflaged against the stone. She realized she had her tongue too dry for a coherent articulation. "Mnhello there! Hmnm?... I suppuze you are not a very eloquent fawn, eh? Well then weare twwo today. If youu are worried, lemma tell yoou I'm completly fine now, just needin' sum exercise to wake up the muscles. I feel a little stupid for hidin' like this, I really wasn't that hurt" she mumbled, slowly, before she scratched the bark with a sharp corner of the antlers and sipped some sap from it. When she turned back to the fawn, her usual silly smile was back on her face, and she walked out to the light, limping slightly and blinking the eyes not used to sun. "You can call me Lilly, like in waterlilly, I love water!... or at least, think in me as Lilly, heheh... Not too different from La, you might be able to say it. And since I don't see how you would tell me your name, I'll call you La, is that alright?"

{Ah, she's not gifted of Kheiron's telepathic ninja skills :'D Also, her shelter is this, it's where another character of mine sleeps (the nightfall pelted random guy).}
AlisonRobin's picture

La nodded vigorously, glad

La nodded vigorously, glad the doe was uninjured and even more excited that Lily had guessed her name. It took the fawn a moment to understand the deer's particular way of speaking, but once she caught on, she found the doe's voice to be warm and comforting.
A fan of both water and waterlilies, La felt a level of kinship with Lily, and made it a point to follow her about to see if she would do something fun or interesting. The fawn blinked in sync with the doe, mimicking out of affection.

((Está a partir de Portugal, sim? Fala bom Inglês. Eu aprendo alguma Português na escola. Eu sei algumas palavras.))

EternalWanderer's picture

The young doe watched La's

The young doe watched La's reactions, amused. Despite the understanding limitations, she was with no doubt one of the smartest fawns Lil had ever met. However, she knew she wasn't in the best conditions to hop and dance around as usual, and oblivious of all her fawnhood memories, she didn't know other ways of entertaining younger deers.
"Sooo... let's see... what can we do to celebrate my recovery?..
I suppose we can give a walk around..."
she said in a whisper of cumplicity, and winked innocently at the kind fawn "...looking for interesting facts in our inconstant forest? For example, I had never noticed this nice hideout before I needed it." Lilly looked behind at the entrance hidden by the two oaks, with a slightly confused expression.

{Ena, ena, não há muita gente a perceber essa linguagem por aqui! In fact, there are only 5 portuguese people playing tef, and some abandoned it long ago. My english isn't that good, I always keep a dicionary at reach |P}
AlisonRobin's picture

La at once realized that the

La at once realized that the doe was correct. For all of her time spent in The Ruins, she had never noticed the little nook in which Lilly had been hidden until it had been occupied. How curious, La thought, and felt strongly that The Forest's magic played an important role in hiding and revealing itself.
Momentarily, she turned her attention back to the healing doe and grinned. There was nothing more grand than exploration and investigation. She flicked her tail and bounced about. Come with me! I will show you things! Her body language said.
EternalWanderer's picture

Lilly thought she had never

Lilly thought she had never felt better for a fawn taking the lead. She chuckled shortly.
"Well, well, seems like you know more about the subject than I do, mah little friend! Alright, I'll follow"
Forcing the rigid limbs forwards, she waited to see where La would take her.
AlisonRobin's picture

It did not take long for La

It did not take long for La to bounce over to The pagan idols, the ones she thought of as Mother, Father, and Baby because of their relative sizes and proximity. Every deer knew about these idols, but La never heard much talk about them.
In the loose dirt, she used her hoof to make rough drawings in front of each idol. A stag, identifiable by his antlers, was drawn in front of the largest idol. A doe was drawn in front of the medium-sized idol, and a fawn was added for the smallest idol. La turned to Lilly to show off her pictures.
EternalWanderer's picture

{Sorry for not answering for

{Sorry for not answering for so long D: I only had time for small comments here and there, and kept leaving this behind}

Lilly approached behind her, watching the fawn scratching on the earth. She was dying of curiosity; what could the fawn be doing? When she turned to her, the grey doe looked over La's shoulder.
What she saw surprised her alot.
One for each idol, a symbol representing deers was engraved on the ground. She looked to La. "You... you made these?" and approached to exhamine them from closer. She had never seen a deer doing something so accurate with the hooves, specially a fawn. It was obvious that her new friend wasn't a regular fawn.
From closer, she could see the association between the size of the statues and the deers. One of the deers had antlers; the bigger idol. Her brain started working out the information furiously.
~The biggest deer has antlers... must be a male... and it's also the biggest idol, it makes sense... so the others must be females, no, wait, these are smaller! And this idol is smaller too... I think I get it...~ Lilly shaked the head, the feathers she was wearing that day whistling with the movement.
"Let me see if I got it right... this big idol represents a male, is that correct? And this is a female, and the smaller one is... younger. Ah, fawn?" A male, a female and a fawn. Suddenly it made sense. She smiled, proud of passing the test, and even more curious about her friend. "So, are these big ones the parents? Hey, how did you come up with that?"
AlisonRobin's picture

(No problem, I know how it

(No problem, I know how it is. I start classes soon so my online time will be less frequent as well)

La nodded--yes, the statues were a family. Lilly's other question had been unexpected, and La didn't know the answer. How had she come up with that? She tilted her head and folded her ears back. A small frown pulled at the corners of her mouth. "La-a-a," I don't know. It had just seemed natural to her than two larger statues and one small one represented a family, and even though she was unfamiliar with the ins and outs of families herself, she had read and observed a great deal. Sometimes La liked to sit between the mother and father statues, but she usually did that when alone.
She tapped a hoof against the father statue, a little sad that it was only rock. The fawn took a few steps back so she was next to Lilly, and admired her artwork in the dirt.
EternalWanderer's picture

Lilly noticed La's expression

Lilly noticed La's expression while tapping the bigger idol, and it occurred in her mind that she should feel quite lonely and deprotected beneath the joy of exploring the secrets of the forest. Most fawns and even adult deers didn't know, or (in Lilly's case) couldn't remember their families. Some didn't even remember about their fawnhood... She tried to not think too deeply about that.
Returning the attention to the drawings, she thought it would probably be stamped and erased by dancing hooves at any time after they left. Stretching the left hoof over the loose dirt, she digged a clumsly border around it, and pushed some stones to the spaces between the idols, so passerby deers would look at the ground twice before stepping on it. "There! It should last longer now!" she said to La in a somewhat respectful tone. Suddenly she jumped onto the mother idol and then to the father idol, standing on this last one to glance at the landscape, a perfectly serious sentinel... whose effect was broken by a cheerful laughter she threw downwards.
"It's a niiice view up here... although I prefer trees... what are we going to do now, my little master?"
AlisonRobin's picture

La looked at her work (her

La looked at her work (her art, she corrected herself, for she thought that it looked quite nice) and smiled, glad that someone had appreciated it. She moved a few pebbles into the borders, following Lilly's lead.
When the doe jumped upward, La jumped back in surprise. Caught in her own world of drawing deer in the dirt, the sudden and unexpected movement frightened her. She watched the adult's nimble movement, and wanted to join, but was not very good at jumping or climbing. She had four left hooves, so to speak.
She darted to the child statue because she knew she was dexterous enough to balance upon its top. After a second or two of psyching herself up, she leaped and successfully found herself mounted on the child's head. She gave a smug, sideways glance to Lilly, but didn't know what to do next. La often felt lost when prompted, and many times she felt more comfortable following than leading.
EternalWanderer's picture

Lilly looked at La's nearly

Lilly looked at La's nearly perfect equilibrium on the small platform that was the child idol, expecting for an answer, but it soon became obvious that she had no plans. Her right hind leg, still a little inflexible, nearly collapsed to a movement she made to look backwards, and she decided she should go down soon. But before, she looked around at the horizon for ideas. On the hill of the Twin statues, a magic ball of light illuminated the pine trees...
Suddenly, Lilly had an idea, and turned the face with a wicked grin under amused black eyes, that seemed to reflect blue shines out of nowhere.
"Have you ever heard of a game called... SpellsTag?"

{Oh twin gawds got to go sorry I finish tomorrow D: Sorry for that, I was about to get grounded and I couldn't write under pressure Cool finished now}
AlisonRobin's picture

La quirked an eyebrow,

La quirked an eyebrow, thought for a moment, and shook her head hesitantly. She did not know that name, but she thought that perhaps she had seen adults playing that game. Being a fawn, magic was something that was primarily foreign to her. When she had it, she could not hang on to it for too long or it slipped through her hooves. She loved watching the adults bounding through the trees, casting spells upon one another and avoiding each other like the magic was a predator. It looked like great fun.
To answer Lilly, she jumped off the little statue and pranced as if running in place. "La!" she said excitedly. I'd certainly like to try.
She tilted her head, ears flopping. In an unsure voice, she continued, "lala la." But I don't know how.
EternalWanderer's picture

This time, Lilly didn't need

This time, Lilly didn't need to think what La meant. The tones and inflexions the fawn used to express herself were starting to get translated automatically by her subconscious mind. And the message was pretty obvious.
"Hey, no problem, it's really easy! I can teach you as we play!" she said, as she landed on the soft earth. Now that she had warmed up, she felt like she had enough energy to run up the Old Oak and jump down safely. With a fast rear in the direction of the hill that she often used as a "this way" gesture, Lilly started running towards the lights in the horizon.
AlisonRobin's picture

La bolted after Lilly,

La bolted after Lilly, impressed by the doe's recovery. La was a pretty good runner (not great, but pretty good) and she managed not to be left behind. Eager to play a game, she felt like she was flying over the ground at incredible speeds. Was this part of the game? La didn't think so, but she couldn't be certain. She sped up even more to catch up to the adult.
EternalWanderer's picture

As soon as the pine forest

As soon as the pine forest started closing up, Lilly slowed down. Not because she wanted; she was loving to feel the refreshing wind lifting her fur and singing in her long ears, but she was afraid that her less agile friend could crash against a tree. Also, she thought it would be better to explain the rules in the way, to save daylight time; the midday sun had lowered half of the way to sunset quicker than she wanted.
She turned her head to La. Lilly was just a few centimetres taller than the fawn, but somehow the magic sticked on the short doe like on an adult. She sneezed the magic jet-black round mask, so she could talk while cutting the air more easily. The black eyes on her blindingly white face reflected the blue of the sky.
"Like I said, Spells-Tag is ridiculously easy!" she shouted over the whistle of the wind "The Spell-Stag, who obviously can be a spell-doe or in this case spell-fawn, prays until they get the hallowed devotee pelt."
"Then, you pursuit the other players and try casting on them. If you lose the spell by mistake, just make a gesture or something, aaand... pray for it again!"
"If your pelt fades before you cast on someone... well... it's your turn again! But, if you cast... on someone... they become... the... Spell-Stag!"
she finished, wheezing for saying so much at such speed.

{Why, I always write toooo much D: to the point that I confuse myself.
Lawl, I just made up that thing of Spell-Stag xD Everyone just says "tag"}
AlisonRobin's picture

La flinched a little when

La flinched a little when Lilly removed her mask--not because she was surprised by the doe's face, but she was surprised by the noise of the sneeze.
The fawn absorbed the rules of the game quickly enough. She liked chasing games, and decided that this would be an excellent one to try. When the twin statues came in to view, La slowed her approach and climbed the small hill on which they sat. She had mixed feelings about the statues--one the one hoof, the Twin Gods had proven time and again that they were benevolent beings. On the other hoof, the statues' staring faces and foreign markings made them intimidating. La lowered her head and bowed to them.
At first she wasn't certain that the spell was working, but soon she felt a tingle in her nose and ears that spread through her body to her feet and tail. Standing up, she found herself to be snowy white.
EternalWanderer's picture

Lilly waited a few metres

Lilly waited a few metres away from La, expecting, right in the limit of the range of the spells. As soon as she got up, she started running towards the sand surrounding the Pond. She was planning to make the first Spell-Tag game of La the most interesting she could... and an obstacles chase was indeed the best she could think of. "Catch me if you can!" she shouted over the shoulder.
AlisonRobin's picture

La's white ears flicked

La's white ears flicked straight up as Lilly fled north-west to the pond. The fawn leaped after her, using the downhill slope to gain momentum. Based on her name, La thought that Lilly probably liked the water, but La liked it too. She was an adept swimmer herself.
It wasn't often that La played here, but Lilly seemed familiar with the area, as La was with The Ruins. Of course, by the nature of the game one could not play spell tag unless they were near the Twin Gods (or, La supposed, near the Crying Idol if you wanted to play red spell-tag). She bounded after Lilly, for now only following to see where the doe was headed.
EternalWanderer's picture

Looking behind only once to

Looking behind only once to check if La kept following her, Lilly dashed over the border of the Pond. It seemed like she was about to fall into the water, but in the last moment she sprinted and landed the small size and weight safely on a wide lillypad. She looked at the white sillouete on the sand and threw a silly taunting laughter. "Heh, is this Spell-Tag or slow-tag? Come get meh!" she shouted, as she started hoping from waterlilly to waterlilly, the nearest she could to the magic range of La without crossing into it.
AlisonRobin's picture

La was not nimble enough to

La was not nimble enough to jump balance on the plants, but she was quick enough in the water to leap and swim at her target, then climb onto the plant before the water washed away her magic or turned her into a frog. Koi swam in circles eagerly beneath the plant. La liked the koi, but they were voracious eaters and sometimes nipped at her hooves when she swam.
The nearest lilypad, the one Lilly taunted her from, was a good body length away from La's pad. She jumped for it gracelessly, and managed to land on the edge.
EternalWanderer's picture

Lilly hopped shortly of her

Lilly hopped shortly of her surprise when she saw La's head coming out of the water. She wasn't expecting that La was fast enough to reach her through the water before the magic was swept off, and nearly lost her equilibrium when the fawn jumped onto the platform. The blue light involving her head was fading away, but she knew there was enough magic for her to cast on her. And she lacked space on the lillypad to jump out and run away.
She laughed with joy and surprise. It felt great to find another deer who felt so natural within the element water.
"Ohh well, guess ya got me! Alrighty, I recognize my defeat, cast that on me!"
AlisonRobin's picture

La very nearly slipped from

La very nearly slipped from the lilypad into the water, but edged carefully toward the middle where she wouldn't fall in. She nodded toward Lilly to pass the magic on, and jumped into the middle of the pond, becoming a frog for a few moments as she swam easily to the shore. She shook off the water, and for a moment looked very fluffy before her fur settled. She bounded back to the Twin Gods, but slipped in the sand, slowing herself down.
EternalWanderer's picture

{I noticed she's grown up

{I noticed she's grown up now, should we skip to another situation, or end this RP here and start a new one some day?}

Lilly stood on the waterlilly for some more seconds, watching the now brown fawn sprinting towards the green hill, untill the veil of light that covered her head vanished and told her that the magic had sticked. She couldn't avoid glancing at her image in the water, missing the moment that La tripped.
And then she started running.
Lilly was quite faster than a fawn. Actually, she was much faster and had more energy than average does, but La had the «surprise factor» on her side, and Lilly's speed couldn't beat good strategies.
She kept running, feeling the moist wind hitting her fur, as she galloped nearly a quarter of the distance from the fawn since La had started running.
