Have your deer ever told YOU?

MissButterflyCaught's picture
Have any of your deer actually created themselves? Have they told you who they are, not the other way around?

Please comment with your stories. Mine's under the cut.

This happened today.

In history class, I was working on a portrait of a real deer. I was half-heartedly listening to the professor and heard the word "Idea" as "Iphea." Something clicked in my head, and Wild Thing rubbed my mind with a smile. He revealed his name to me through my history professor's mis-spoken words.

From now on, Wild Thing can be known as either name, Iphea or Wild Thing, but he prefers Iphea.

Another thing happened to him as well. He found a set of species, and is real-deer-like now. I figured his species to be a cross between a whitetail deer, Bactrian Red deer, and Tule Elk. He has mainly whitetail facial markings and tail-length, a unique combination body-structure with similar height to the Bactrian Red, and elk-like fur-patterns (as in lengths and placement thereof.) His fur is more akin to the Bactrian Red Deer in color, though riddled with light specks due to his recent bout of Lyme Disease.

Well, I will be posting an image of the deer himself later, but just know now that if I am talking about Iphea, then I am talking about him.

My snake character, Ayya,

My snake character, Ayya, actually created himself. I was reading about ancient pyramids in Sudan and that's what inspired him, so a moment later he was created. The name "Ayya" is a translation of "Snake" in Arabic, and I found a picture of a snake i thought was really pretty so his colors were modeled after it.

Mine create themselves

Mine create themselves sometimes. Other times I have to kick them around a little to make them talk. My most recent, Bright Eyes, practically shoved me over in his anticipation to get out on paper.

I look forward to seeing your picture of Iphea.

Azura created herself. I was

Azura created herself. I was art-mousing (Computer drawings with mouse) annnnd... I drew her. And then, I drew her a few more times. Later, she almost named herself. Like she told me, her name is Azura, although I was thinking of the name to be suitable. And later, that name stayed, because she was so Azura-ish already so... Yes. And the pattern on her fur started to form for itself, she told me her past, her feelings... So she's a... Creature in my head, perhaps. Later, I drew her more accurate so I got her final look. She was a roe deer before, but the way imagine her isn't much of a roe deer, that she has been one. So it may be quite confusing. I mean, she has a different nose than the roe deer, her eyes are smart, like a human's, almost, only her body is of a roe deer. So, Azura formed herself.

Eoron was created by art, too. But mostly, he became of the White King Deer myths, so I just did him, made him true. Although all other things (Only his look became itself) were created by me, the past and all. But his manners and voice speak for himself, he did them himself.

At least 4 of them (Rae, Uschii, Jadyn, and Oberon, along with a 5th that I won't reveal) have, at the very least, gotten me to get them off the sketches and into actual characters. I find they start subtle, only to become more aggressive about it the longer I hold out. Jerks, all of them. :v

Uschii in particular was fairly talkative about herself.

Anjali's very quiet; I wish I could get him to tell me more about him. I suppose perhaps he will when the time is right.
But right now there's another little deer-creature who keeps dancing out of my mind and onto my drawing paper. It seems to want to be though of as female, and it wants to explore the Forest. But she won't tell me her name, or much else. Perhaps we'll strike up an agreement, and try things out.

It's really a wonder that sometimes characters can do this! I love the amount of responses this is getting! Please tell me more.

At first I was a mini deer.

At first I was a mini deer. Then Friday before Easter I got spammed with a bunny spell. I was only going to keep it for the weekend. But then Herla was being attacked and hid behind me, See screenshot post ( Attack Bunneh ). That's where I got the idea for Big Bunny. Now I opened this account for Big Bunny. Idea Eye Smiling
We Are Always Special When We Are With Friends.

Yes, most of mine have. I've

Yes, most of mine have. I've known when some didn't want to stick around or couldn't. Thus, I would get rid of them. I've also known when a few have wanted to stay or return, so I listened and let them and they're still around today.

Even though this isn't very related to characters creating themselves; with my main deer, I can often feel what she is feeling regarding illnesses. For instance, when she feels sick, then I start to feel symptoms similar if not the exact same as hers. This has happened for quite some time.

At times I wish Walter would

At times I wish Walter would stop telling me.

Do you know how expensive it is to buy pink furniture and Lady Gaga CDs for him all the time? Not to mention his food..

Awilda told me about herself.

Awilda told me about herself. It's like I heard the name and she kicked me in the brain. And then suddenly I drew her. I had her set and a spare picto that fit her. And then her background, history, past relations, personality, powers just... came.

Kamikaze also came to me like that, but less spectacularly. See, I wanted a deer that would say hello and then be on it's way. Then I heard a song called Kamikaze and it clicked. Then he just turned out to be crazy so... I guess that's a case of a character breaking free rather than appearing from no-where?

I have never sat down and thought 'today I will make a character' it's always "Hello, my name is _____ and today you are going to create me" out of nowhere.

Zyzzy, mostly being a

Zyzzy, mostly being a fan-deer, was created. I did little things here and there to make him his own character a bit, but otherwise his personality was already mostly laid out in the character he was based on.

There is another deer though who just kind of jumped into my mind while listening to 2 particular pieces of music, and has slowly been creating himself since! xD We still don't have a name and personality is still hazy, but he definitely has an appearance he wants. Its interesting how these things work!

Cypher has revealed to me that he is much more complex than what I created him to be. He's morphed into something different, and I very much like it.

I actually have not had any

I actually have not had any deer that have created themselves, this is the main reason why I don't have any real pinned-down characters, even my first account doesn't have a fully formed personality.

But recently I had this urge to write things down, something about small wings, and it only turned out half-***'d. After that I was in yet another rut. Then another urge- to draw this time. I now have a full body sketch of a deer that has no name, color, personality, history. No nothing. And I've drawn him/it a few times, but he/it doesn't want to develop any further it seems... Rather frustrating. He/It's adorable and I really really want him/it to give me a few more hints :<

Any suggestions as to what I can do to coax him/it out?

Leviathann has also become

Leviathann has also become very complex.

I'm sure she's done this herself, with little help from me, although I do feel more attached to her than any other character I've ever created.

I'm very protective of her, and sometimes she shares her inner thoughts with me.. it's very magical. I kind of wish others saw her like me.

Eraline was sort of steering

Eraline was sort of steering me from the get-go. I started her with a basic outline of who she is in my mind, but once I started playing her - and most especially these days - she began to develop her own likes/dislikes, quirks and desires independent of me, and I am constantly having moments in-game in which I'm playing her and then she "does" something and I'm like, "Gotta remember to add that to her personality section..."

It's pretty interesting. I'm in the process of creating a second deer, and I'm wondering now how different he will be from her. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

The doe that I'm closest to

The doe that I'm closest to is The Oak Guardian.
I actually decided that I would put myself in the forest as her, but she's kind of her own thing still...
For example, I created her with the name Auburn but it seems like she prefers to be "nameless" or just called The Oak Guardian.
It's things like that...that change things differently than I would have wanted or expected to.
Although I am intrigued by her, she kind of confuses me and puts me in a trance. I don't know...Sometimes I'm trying to decide things for her, but she wants to do something different. I'm still unable to put her personality into words- for I am still trying to figure her out myself.

Ahh, I see these kinds of

Ahh, I see these kinds of questions and think, "I should put my story down." But then I worry and fret over it and then end up staying quiet. Im an aspiring writer, but im afraid sometimes my work is too 'dramatic', and the point is not sent. I never try to be dramatic with my stories, unless I say otherwise. I never make answers for questions like these up. This might be a long post.

Copolymer used to be a very rude and 'badass-evil-demon-deer' character. It was for that reason that I had 'deletetd' him. My Misang has.. basically been here my whole tef life. She's changed designs in her pelt (in the ways I've drawn her) so many times, I beagan to wonder if shed ever show me her true self. But now she's said to me, "Stop, this is me." And since then, I've kept drawing her that way. She represents the courage that I wish to have. True courage. Not some shell. She used to be a very timid, scared, and abused mini. But she got a mate, and children. That's what made her strong.

Copo, believe it or not, is one of my most precious characters now. He changed so much... I became extremely spiritually attached to him when he showed me a 3 day long dream. Ill explain what happened.

I made him rest for 3 days straight by the crying idol. My earbuds in, listening to the song that plays when you sleep. I used to keep it off, but I felt so nostalgic hearing it.... it was for 3 days that I watched him. How deer would use him for pelts and how others wold simply bow to him, or rest by him for a while. As if they knew I was watching. It was then that I had this wonderful dream.

I was in an endless expanse of tall wheat like grass. The warm wind blowing through it, making the nicest rustling sound I've ever heard. It was literally total peace. I saw myself laying by sleeping Copo. He was so big in size compared to me. I was stroking his fur gently, hugging him. I could feel his heartbeat and hear it when I put my head against his chest. See and hear his slow breathing, the rise and fall of his slumbering belly. Feel the warmth on his breath when he sighed... it was that dream that he showed me... it was so wonderful. I can't even put it properly into words. I've never felt at such peace before in my life ever. Ever. It could have been heaven. I once tried to draw it, but there was no way I could even begin to draw such an image.

Since then, I can easily share my ideas and 'talk' to Copo. My mother told me I need to stop living in a fantasy world and realize what real life is. In that moment, I felt him nuzzle me.. He felt how hurt I was inside.

I've never had that sort of strong spiritual connection with Misang, sadly. But she's still very dear to me.

Hope I explained it well enough. Pardon any typos. Im on my phone's internet.

W.S.: I would suggest,

W.S.: I would suggest, considering this is a Deer, which are skittish by nature, (yes, even in your head) to just let the deer-idea come to you. Characters may take awhile to reveal themselves. Heck, Iphea took two years to completely develop himself through probably over 20 or so characters I had in the past.... give or take.... So just be patient and calm cause you can't rush perfection.

Selruil: I really wish I could too. I need to get to know your Levathiann better.

Punkin: <3

Bayleen: Let HER do it... hehe.... she may rebel otherwise and commit character suicide. That is what Iphea taught me. I had to let him do it himself or he would not want to be my character anymore.

Pretzil: I have had similar "waking dreams" with Iphea. He would run with me in the woods, or walk with me when I was upset. I am sure Quad also has these, He's talked about that before too. I think when you truly find yourself as part of your character, not the other way around, this happens. It's amazing.
