Fan art in the game!

Hello there!
I am Margo Putzeys, a student Game- and Digital Design and I am currently doing my internship with Tale of Tales. I am still studying but I will be entering my Master year next schoolyear.
For my internship Auriea Harvey and Michael Samyn asked me if I wanted to work with the players and make models and concept art together. And with great pleasure I accepted this of course! This means you will be able to add art to the game!

But there are some 'rules' attached to this: If you make a 3D model, pleas send it as an .OBJ file to me. But a .Blender file ( Blender's file extension ) would be even better! But a .OBJ is good as well! As for the concept art you can send a photoshop file, PNG of JPEG.

So what can you make? Well it's like a set that the deers can wear in the game! This set includes: a mask, antlers and a pelt. Both made for the adult deer AND the baby deer. You can (if some of you know how and want to) texture these models by using a UV map. If you do texture them, send texture files as a PNG. ( PNG supports transparancy )
But of course you are never obligated to making more than you like. The meaning of this task is also for me to make stuff, so if you only would like to make the adult deer's models, that's fine by me. I can always texture them, add models, etc.

So if any of you are interested in putting your art or 3D models in the game. Send them to me and I can adjust them if necessary or take a look if something needs to be changed and so on.
You can of course also send your concept art to me and I can realise that concept art into a 3D model which may have a chance to be put in the actual game: The Endless Forest!

To be clear, we want Margo to do ALL of the modeling and ALL of the texturing. Because that is what her internship is about. YOU, players, are requested to send her concept art or point her to already existing concept art (on this very website, for instance). SHE can choose which concepts she models and textures. But WE, Auriea and Michaël, choose which go into the game. We hope there will be many!

The only thing wrong with that gorgeous design is......there isn't an attachment to change the tail shape currently

HOWEVER! It would be awesome if we could do that. Then we could also make longer whitetail tails, blacktail tails, longer tails, pony tails, and these petal tails, feather tails, it would be awwweeee-soooooooome.

Ehehehe, here's a (sloppily done) Deertato! Because even TEF needs some comical features.

Sorry for all that sloppines, I did it with a mouse and really quickly, I have to go somewhere soon! *ahem*mybirthday*ahem* Lol.

Basic idea: Antlers about the size of monarch antenae antlers,, pelt dotted with green potato "eyes", socks on legs supposed to symbolize the roots? I might add a mask!

Ugh, such a mess, though. I blame the mouse, I hardly work with it...

So..the Egito set should be

So..the Egito set should be finished now :3 Personally one of my favorites! Plus I have a weak spot for everything Egyptian

I like how this one turned out! I like the way the antlers looks the most. They look golden and glowing :> I always loved the curve on the antlers in the original design

So it's the complete set for adult deer. Thais told me that 'Egito' means Egypt in portuguese. So the set is inspired by Egyptian masks. Also the texture I have used on both the antlers and the mask is the texture of Egyptian Marble. I put Egyptian symbols on the mask like they were engravings as detail :3

Absolutely love the Egito concept, Margo! Love the little details on the mask and those antlers are gorgeous!

The Egito set was a nice

The Egito set was a nice choice to recreate, though I think your version is missing some components that really made the original concept so interesting to look at.

Right now I believe that the pelt you have now might be too dark. Referring back to the original concept, the yellows were a light cream color, so brightening the hooves and chest area would give it a much richer look. I also think it would benefit if you added a lighter purple/maroon shade around the areas that the Egito concept had, because at the moment it seems a bit dull with only 2 colors (brown and a dark yellow) opposed to the original (shades of purple, dark gray, bright creamy yellow).

I think the antler texture looks great, but I'm not too sure about the mask - I think the texture you used almost makes it look broken/shattered? Maybe someone else could give better advice on that since I don't know much about that. Side view angles of the mask look great, though at other angles it seems a bit flat? Extending the muzzle might help with that.

Actually, the purple is already in there

It's just the screenshots that look so dark. But I can indeed lighten the purple in the pelt and the yellow. Maybe it would be more visible than

Personally, I don't think it looks shattered or broken at all so

And it's not that I don't wanne change something for the players because I do, but I also think that the flat feeling you get in the front view is because of the way I took the screenshot and probably some of the perspective. Since it's clear in the side views that the muzzle of the mask is long enough

Those antlers and the general

Those antlers and the general appearance from the set at the front definately gives it an Egyptian vibe. I'm not so sure on the mask's texture, but I certainly approve of the shape. :3

I love the Egito set! Really

I love the Egito set! Really the only things I can comment on is that the markings around the eye holes could use a bit of smoothing, as they're a bit disjointed and rough from most angles. Another would be perhaps to lower the opacity of the marble texture on the mask, especially on the gold parts.

Well, I really like the Egito

Well, I really like the Egito set. I like the changes you made at the pelt, pelt and mask seem all right to me. I love the yellow eyes of the pelt. though I'd still like to give you some advice to the mask. I think it's, sort of, simple and undetailed. The texture is stunning, but in my opinition it looks a little bad on it now. It might be nicer if, as someone already said, the yellow markings will be smoother over edges. What about adding some light and shadow to the mask then? Some more details to the muzzle and eyes? I think that some new details and shading will give the mask new effect. That's what I think. Good job anyway, it'll be lovely to have something like that in game!
