Wears: The Great Argus pelt, peacock feathers, and the magpie mask.
Characteristics: Desanm is biracial, with light brown skin, jade green eyes, and a freckled nose and cheeks. Her hair is dark brown and dreadlocked, with hints of natural light blonde throughout. She has an assortment of charms, wooden beads, and strips of cloth adorning her hair, and she wears different colored bandannas across her forehead. Her peacock "antlers" are actually just two feathers tied in to her hair. She has a small silver ring through her right nostril and a faded black V E V E under her left eye.
Miscellaneous: She will occasionally wear her "devout" set of the orca pelt and Day of the Dead mask and peacock feathers or Day of the Dead antlers. She often lets her mask hang around her neck. She has a congenital heart defect, like her mother, and can become achy or winded if she is too active.

P E R S O N A L I T Y
Desanm is mostly your typical adolescent. She is a rather nervous with strangers, but warms up to them quickly and will treat them like a best friend after that. She is a bit of a loner, being new to this Forest, but she doesn't mind spending time by herself. Described by her mother as a "free-spirit", she can spend a day chasing birds and insects, hopping in tall grass, and splashing around in the pond. She's a little feisty and a bit of a rebel, but she has good intentions and will usually do what she's told. Her curiosity tends to lead her to watch other deer from afar, and might even get her into trouble sometimes. For her age, she has quite a large vocabulary and speaks maturely, even reciting poems to herself, but other than that, she doesn't say much to strangers. Desanm is very well learned on the subject of Haitian Vodou, a religion consisting of hundreds of intermediary spirits called loas.
Enjoys: Birds, colors, music, dancing, nature walks, dressing up, swimming, talking, learning, singing to herself, poetry, literature, insects, all four seasons
Dislikes: Fights, mosquitoes, being frightened, being alone, anyone being unhappy

As for her looks- you can mostly just refer to the drawing I have of her. Only now she wears a dark red bandana across her forehead (like a headband), and she has a permanent black tattoo-like marking coming down from her left eye of this veve symbol. You could add in a silver nose ring too, if you feel like it. xD
Blah- I could always give it a shot but my writing needs a lot of work. xD But it would certainly be interesting. Might be worth a shot at some point, perhaps after I give my "memories" story a try just so I can get it out of my head. :B
And I'm pretty sure that Essu would appear to her with a close resemblance to her own mother- because that is pretty much what she desires the most. I'm unsure as to whether or not she would appear as alive- because that would be a creepy weird twist to it. I DUNNO. xD

Well, hopefully she wouldn't freak out too much- for some reason death by itself doesn't scare her. Seeing her mother, whether dead or not, would probably just be comforting (which sounds creepy as hell, but for some reason I don't think it would bother her xD). Anyway her mom died from a sickness (dunno exactly what) that just worsened over time. As for her religious beliefs- she was brought up as a follower of the Vodou religion- which basically encompasses the act of praying to specific loas, which are spirits, and each of them have certain control or connection to things like fertility, death, water, lightning, plants, etc. Much like Egyptian gods, actually xD Anyway she happens to know a lot about the religion and the hundreds of different spirits and rituals and such.

Read up a little more on that religion, they said some symbols are too sacred to be traced/re-produced anywhere but during a ritual. That's really neat, and possibly very un-Christian of me...
