Cata's Endless Diary #2, 29th January 2009

WARNING FROM SHAW: This one is dark and sad. xD Guess I'm a drama writer somehow. But, please read it anyway, I had some fun thinking of this. <3

Here's another diary entry from me, Cata. I hope there are any readers out there, so that my call is heard; if not, it's fine, maybe it'd be better if I didn't share all my thoughts...
But here are they, anyway.
I woke up normally, scretching, yawning, full of excitement while thinking what would happen today.
I opened my eyes and - and froze.
WHAT was THAT?
It was cold. So cold. A strange feeling was all around in the air. And there were big clouds in the sky... no, not clouds - it was dust.
Dust everywhere!

My favourite place, the Crying Idol, even seemed to be darker...

My heart beated through the whole Forest. I wondered if anyone else could hear me. I still felt like frozen. This dust. I knew it from somewhere. But in my brain, there was just mess. What was happening here?
And then, I saw THEM. The bats. Spying me, flying around my head without the less respect.
Since I lived here in The Endless Forest, I took on to like every animal, if enemy, annoying or stupid, but I knew I absolutely DIDN'T like these bats.

I ran away. I ran like crazy. You can never catch a bat. It will always get away. So the only left thing is to flee.
I spied a pictogram I knew. Twenty-One. A friendly doe. I thought I'd get some safeness here. But she was a fawn at the moment. She stood up when I came and we bowed. But I was still nervous. When the bats came again and flew around me, it was too much and I fled again, leaving Twenty-One-Fawn behind. I was sorry, and I felt like a coward.
But I remembered now where I knew the dust and the bats from.
When I heard a howl in the distance, I knew.
The wolves.

Peshewa. Penagashea. Pesh. Pena.
Dead. Because of the wolves.
I ran. I ran to The Pond. A little fawn lay under the tree, sleeping. I went to him and sat down, protecting it from the loud noises the horrible bats made, so loud that you almost couldn't hear it.

I was scared, angry and ashamed at the same time.
The wolves were here! Would they come into the Endless Forest? Would they dare bothering the peace of it? And why were I so scared? I've fought many wolf packs in the past, too many maybe, but I did.
And I failed.
Pesh. Pena. The little sleeping fawn in front of me.
I ran to Twin Gods Hill to pray for help. The bats followed and laughed while flying in circles over the Twin Gods Hill.
I prayed until I got the white pelt.
DO NOT BE AFRAID. WE ARE THE TWIN GODS. WE WILL PROTECT YOU, OUR CHILDREN, AND THE FOREST.
I smiled. Maybe it wasn't real that the Twin Gods were talking in my head. I've heard many voices in my imagination before. But that didn't matter for me now.
I felt safe, really safe now the first time since when I recognized the dust and saw the bats and heard the wolves.

Then I ran back to the little sleeping fawn and gave him the white pelt. It only stayed a few seconds on it, since it had no pictogram.
I kissed its neck. "May you be safe while this dust is dominating."

I went over into The Pond for a bit of liquid to fill my brain with freshness. But when I looked into the water, the whole world was suddenly twirling around me.
I saw myself how I looked after the fight with the wolves years ago, the fight where I lost my wife and a daughter.
Full of wounds and hurt.

But when the white pelt disappeared, the weird effect was gone, too. It was all just normal, the white pelt appears like that in The Pond.
My heartbeat was fast. I closed my eyes for a while, then opened it again. I went over to the little place with grass where the light was always shining onto. That's why it became my favourite place in The Endless Forest after the Crying Idol.
But this time, the light was gone. The bats were laughing and flying.

But this time, I wasn't sad or afraid. I shouted to the bats they should buzz off. I bowed to the place to promise to myself that I would return. Then I ran to The Old Oak and sat down in it. The bats couldn't follow here, there was too little place to fly around, and here was no dust, too.
But I could watch everything safely and if the wolves would really dare to come, well, there was still something of a Shawnee herd leader inside of me...

That was the last thought I remember, before I fell asleep, and dreamt of fighting against all the wolves, bats and dust fingers, with Pesh, grown-up Pena, my dear Paya and the Shawnee herd on my side, being their proud and strong leader again.
And I know: When I wake up again, the dust, the bats and the wolves are going to be gone. The Twin Gods promised it to me in my dreams.

Haha, that was it. Much, eh? When I read there is dust and wolve cries in the forest, I just HAD to go online and make a big story for Cata for it. x'D Sorry about any mistakes in my english, I hope you could understand everything.
And I hope you enjoyed it... <3

How come I'm only seeing this now? DD:

This story was awesome. You did a great job writing it! That reflection in the pond is spooky, I've never seen it. You didn't edit that picture? D:

I still have to upload Lemon's story/journal from the day it was foggy, too. :> This has inspired me to get it all finished up and submitted.

Great story, once again -- very dimensional and sad.
