Furfur stumbled through the underbrush on his weakened legs and listened intently for Ama's cries. There was no doubt that she was being tormented again by something, but was it merely her imagination? He kept his head low and pushed forward through the bushes.
He felt unsteady on his new hooves and his new range of vision was disorienting. He was use to the normal blind spots directly in front of him but through the nameless's cloudy eyes he could see a farther range. It would seem a blessing to the unknowing, but he did not deal well with change. He flinched back as a pine branch snapped across his tender face and ducked low. He felt so vulnerable despite having the same points as his previous form. His face was sensitive and he seemed to be far too aware of everything he was feeling.
He peeled out sharply from the trees and rounded the ruins where he spotted his friend. She was cowering low against the wall from Basil.
Figures.
He leaves for a few months and that creep comes out of the woodwork to harass his females.
The large stag was standing over her and lowering her points. It was his normal sense of posturing and he had the usual soft mad mumbling to accompany it.
Furfur did not even wait for the first strike before he leapt in the middle and lowered his bare points in return. It was a meak gesture at best. In his usual body he could easily turn aside The Nameless One, but he felt so exposed and vulnerable.
The two deer slammed their antlers together and tried to wrestle the other to the ground. Furfur tried to dig his hooves into the ground to resist, but the other stag was larger, angrier, and had no qualms about hurting a petty nameless. His joints creaked in weak protests and he pushed up against the larger deer. He was smaller, he was tired, he had a sensitive face and he did not even have to mention the knowledge that he was carrying a deadly dis-
Ah.
Yes.
Furfur raised his head to get face level with Basil and started a loud coughing fit. The disease could not be transferred through breath alone, but the other deer's heightened senses would most likely alert him to the impending danger of infection. The illness was always marked with a sharp scent that drove the other deer of the forest from his side. No doubt even a monster like Basil could not face such a threat of painful death without fear.
Basil wretched his tines away from the smaller nameless and let out a low hiss.
"You little bitch. Hiding behind a nameless...coward! Why don't you just give up and come with me. Hes not coming back to pro-"
Furfur dove forward and cracked his skull against Basil's bleeding face. It was a petty move that caused a sharp pain in his own skull the wail of pain issued from the larger stag's mouth was satisfying.
He lowered his head and tried to ignore the throbbing pain as he prepared for the revenge blow that never came.
Basil stumbled blindly in confusion for a few seconds before charging directly to the side of the two deer and getting his prongs lodged in the crumbling wall of the ruins. He pulled in vain to free his head, but could do nothing more than grow threats.
Furfur frowned and stood up straight to stare. It was somewhat comical, but considering the trapped beast was proactively trying to kill them and could free himself any second it did not bring any amusement.
He shook his head briskly and turned to where Amadahy was standing.
Key word..was.
He followed the sound of pounding hooves and stared as her backside disappeared through the trees.
That was fine.
He never expected to be treated as a hero.
But he had a date with destiny. He frowned and stared up at the sky again in confusion. The weather did not match the day when he was brought back. No..this was a different time..but when?
He took off for the pond and tried to ignore the throbbing pain in his forehead. He needed to find himself and Kita before it was too late.
"Come to yell at me again? I told you already I am not leaving, I am the one who is here to stay"
He stopped in his tracks and stared out through the trees.
There.
They were right there.
"Listen I am sorry... I know that you aren't leaving now. But I mean...I am sorry..I don't know what to say..."
"Well I forgive you then."
Thank you.
Furfur stumbled forward and stared intently. He had to get Seshi away from her..but how? He waited until they laid down to rest. He did not have much time..but how??
He crept closed and tried to find anything. If he outright attacked himself Kita might get in the way. No..he had to draw them apart.
His eyes settled on the mask laying by Kita's side.
It was a stupid plan, but he had no other choice. He ran head long for the mask and grabbed it in his teeth before sprinting off for the forest.

Small eyes stared intently from the undergrowth, tracing the nameless's path as he ran. Perhaps she knew what he was in her heart of hearts, but Ama wasn't quite ready to admit it yet. She had been too convinced that he was gone for good.
Until she came to the inevitable conclusion, though, she would be watching.
Hooray! Beautiful as always,
Beautiful as always, and I love that it's come full circle.
Can't wait for more!
^^
I knew what you were up to
Still, I have a fetish for messing with time.
Mmm, yes. I'm very pleased.
And worried. Probably because I already read that question of if Furfur should be retired.
And know you don't hold much interest here any longer.
It's... Sad.
But whatever happens, I'll deal.
On to the next story.
The last one, at this moment. I wonder if it will stay that way.
Mmm.
Onward.
... Nice title, by the way.
