Depends on your motivation. I write my stories for practice because I plan to write novels later in my life. I also write because I come up with neat ideas and I want to write them down and see what people think.
There are people that read stories and don't comment, so don't think that the stories are completely ignored. I've run into a few people in a different game that were like "Hey it's Quad, the person who wrote (fill in the blank)!", and I have no idea who they are!

It's not about how many people read it, or how many comments are achieved. It's about expressing creativity in the way you see fit - in this case in writing. It's about hard copying your immaginations and ideas for others to see should they like to, and so you personally don't forget your thought up stories.
It also can be about self inprovement in your own writing abilities, and about looking for constructive critique in order to get even better.
